Exabytes is local hosting, GoDaddy is international hosting.
Normally local is more expensive due to bandwidth.

I need some advice. I am looking for web hosting for my word press. My site has quite good stats. Which web hosting I should use. Most of the international web hosting companies, including wordpress are quite pricey. I have visitors coming from Malaysia (mostly) as well as from overseas. I would like to know if I use a local web hosting company such as exabytes -will it effect my international visitors ? Meaning that is it better to get an international hosting company than a local one for that.

It is better to host locally and have a .com.my domain name if your main visitors are Malaysian.
International visitors will have a slightly slower loading speed as they will have higher ping.
Just buy a CDN so that the speed of loading will be the same for all.

GoDaddy is obviously the better choice. But I dont believe Exabytes charges is RM500 a year. That is ridiculously expensive for a web hosting account.

TS got the wrong info, Exabytes most expensive shared hosting plan is only at RM291.85/year, which is the unlimited plan from their website.

As long as the promoter gives good input, and not so bias.. I don't really mind

But seriously, I am using Arvixe. Unlimited space, unlimited bandwith. I think that is the best so far. Hardly any down time as well. The support team is world class. Always attend to you immediately.

the term "unlimited space" is merely an advertising purposes only ... Still many are unaware on this and trust on the gimmick..

Yeah.. how come such unlimited thingy exist when there is no unlimited space hard disk ever exist yet.

Agree on this, I think they don't expect you to use up so much disk space as they have.
If you over use it, they may switch you to a semi dedicated or dedicated server which has bigger disk space.
But since not much people used so much disk space, they can still charge at a shared hosting price.

Things I consider as a developer when searching for hosting service:
1) security
If you ask me to choose hosting service that I want in the market, I will definitely not choosing both of them mainly because there are better services out there. Since you are just giving me two options here, I would say I prefer godaddy over exabytes because of better and more transparent vulnerability disclosure. You need to know that, there are no 100% SECURE hosting, including the most advance cloud hosting companies like aws or google. You can achieve optimal security with both providers and users work together with best practice. As a user of a service, we need to know what should we do and how serious is the problem affecting us when shits happen. We need them undercontrol.

2) technology level and transparency
Godaddy is better compare to exabytes in technology wise. Exabytes buy their hosting platform technology from company like softaculous and others which they didn't build themselves. Godaddy build their platform from the ground up with infrastructure software like openstack and kubernetes. They have several quite useful opensource project which they build themselves. You can check these at google. It's really important to know their technology level, they might not able to provide you zero day patching for vulnerabilities on infrastructure like spectre and meltdown because they didn't build the hardware like aws and google, but they can provide zero day patching for their platform because they build that themselves. If you have no idea what is zero-day, ask google.

3) affordable pricing
Believe me, what you need is affordable and reasonable pricing, not the lowest pricing. Choose the lowest price without deep understand why that company can provide lower price compare to others will definitely bring you a dreadful disaster later. One point that most people forget is scaling their web or app.

4) shared hosting vs vps
You will definitely agree with me, we should not use shared hosting anymore in 2018. In fact few years ago, people already switching from shared hosting to vps because of scaling and security. You might not need dedicated hosting, and in fact most of us do not need dedicated hosting. What we need is vps or so called cloud hosting.

yeah, old trend. basically what you really want to do whenever you want to start something is to start at lowest price and slowly upgrade your way up. Getting an expensive package upfront doesn't mean you will succeed immediately.
