hi, everyone! i'm new to this hobby and i'm thinking to import a v911 from banggood. anyone tried purchasing a whole heli unit from this site? need advise on import taxes.
*
I didn't try buying a whole helicopter from them before, but I bought many spare parts from them before for my V933. My first heli from a coaxial and I'm very very bad at it.I'm thinking of getting a v911 as well for me as the V933 is unfliable to me rclxub.gif

V911 rm110 from helifix dude on Mudah. Hehe

My attempt at cloud surfing...

Lost site of the plane in my first attempt and saw it coming back down in a death spiral. Manage to get it back up with some elevator and throttle.

This is my second attempt... Rain clouds are heavier and so they are the lowest clouds...

Damn man that must be scary as hell sweat.gif

Do you guys meet up and fly? And is there anybody here in to 3d heli flying? really need kaki and sifu to ajar laugh.gif

i think it'll help more if understand the difference between a coax, v911 and v933.

if you can't fly a coax, you can probably fly a v911, but definitely not v933. hence, your current predicament.
*
There's somewhat of a typo there from my Autocorrect as I typed that out on my phone sweat.gif

Was supposed to say that I started from a coaxial and felt pretty comfortable, then immedietly jumped to a 6ch V933 and after many, many crashes, i'm still very bad at it cry.gif

Btw, who here knows Johnny Lim from Helifix? Just paid him a visit, friendly chap and meeting him again tomorrow to see him demo flight some of his other heli's drool.gif

just to report, i ordered a V911 pro 2 weeks ago from banggood. it reached my doorstep safely in one piece and without additional custom tax! thumbup.gif
*
why not just buy locally? sweat.gif

better get em' spares... i already broke 2 flybars and my motor seems to had lost power compared to my friend's one after around 15~20 full charges....

and another note, do not play outdoor when there's even a slight wind... nearly lost my V911 few days back when i flew to around 4 storeys height, wind blowing the heli towards an apartment block and as hard as i might, i couldn't get it to fly back to me and ended up losing sight of it once it flew over the apartment block. That was at least a good 70~80m away from me and 4 storeys high. Thank god i managed to find it back, with no damage shocking.gif

couldn't land it by the time i hit 40~m away from me as there are thick, thick bushes between where i was and the apartment block...

so yeah, if you have a v911, buy some spares especially the flybar and also do not fly in windy weather. And when you think you can fly against the wind, you really can't laugh.gif

the V911 is also very good for direction training to upgrade to the V933. After around 10~ flights, I flew back my V933 and i can control it much, much better and at least this time i can hover for pretty long without crashing it laugh.gif

Trying to reach the clouds again.

Reach a thick layer of smog instead.

Just shows how polluted the city air is...

Practising on low flying

Caution, noob flying... tongue.gif

yours is an FPV rig or just normal camera mounted on a quad? sorry, noob in quads laugh.gif

the last vid is a fixed wing plane? I saw a shadow on the ground which shows its a plane... hmm.gif

i ordered 2 sets of replacement parts currently otw to reach me. my first v911 is still holding up quite well. broke 2 pairs of blade n now got no replacement blades to continue flight. the v911-pro definitely flies better out of the box, i know most of the parts are identical with the old version but it just feels more stable!
now waiting for the replacement parts to arrive so that i can fly it ROUGH!
*
do you have extra flybars? i ordered the set with 5 blades, 5 flybars and 5 linkages but they had not been posted to me yet, and both me and my friend had broken the flybar sad.gif

and with the correct maneuvres, you can make the v911 go pretty damn fast. push full forward cycling, then slowly push it to either left or right direction(accompanied by the appropriate tail direction) and you can make the v911 go pretty damn fast, full throttle going straight laugh.gif

i crashed my v911 many times, making the thing go vertical and sometimes more than vertical with a few combinations of banked turns sweat.gif

Hi guys!

Wow, looks like most people in this thread flies quads eh?

I'm flying a Walkera V450D03 heli and also have WLToys V977 and V933 micros.

Recently just got a Walkera Devo 10 transmitter and now I can fly all of them with one transmitter! Woohoo! Deviation firmware is awesome!

Thinking of playing with planes and racing quads next time if the budget permits, currently keeping my fleet airworthy is already costing me enough money laugh.gif

I see some people asking for physical shops eh, can head to fb and search for this group 'Dunia RC Group Malaysia', there have quite a few sellers and also once in awhile some people will post quite useful tips etc. Pretty nice platform for discussion there.

I fly quads &heli, transmitter become an huge problem when u own multiple quads & heli. So  I Bought this devo 7e and modified it so it can control all my quad & heli.
Added 2 transmitter module inside the devo 7e.  Now I can fly every quad&heli that I own .
Seem like very little forum discuss about  walkera devention (Devo) with deviation TX firmware.

For those who did mod your devo Please share your modification also biggrin.gif
*
huahhhhh a Devention user! Pretty rare haha. Took me quite some amount of hours to set up the transmitter to how I liked it though, damn complex mixing menu is complex indeed

Mine is installed with the NRF24L01 module ripped off from a V262 quad controller, and a A7105 module ripped off from a V911.

Did you do the range mod on yours though? My friend is asking me to help him do the range mod on his 7E, but does the range mod affect the NRF module as well or just the built in module? As my friend flies with the NRF module usually.

Loving your tri-antenna design though, thinking of doing that as well, but yesterday flew my V977 micro and the range is plenty enough, flew it around 100m away until I had trouble seeing it but it was still under control, so thinking whether is it worth the trouble, plus preferably I would like white antennas on mine tongue.gif laugh.gif

Soldering both modules on the Devo10 is a real killer, it looks like the Devo 7E is easier to solder than my Devo 10. By the way, where did you get your neckstrap CG modifier add-on? And what quads and helis do you fly and where do you fly? brows.gif

i did the range mod, power my devo up but i didnt test the range. Everything work fine.
BUT
i ordered NRF24L01 but it was faulty (vcc and gnd is shorted). i didnt know at first, so  i soldered it in (causing shortcircuit in my devo).
after the NRF24L01 mod, my devo behave very weird, so i suspect the stock module cyrf6936 got fried too. so i ordered the cyrf6936 module for devo 8s and soldered in to my devo 7e ( if u see the pic  clearly, my stock module is different).
*managed to get a refund for that faulty NRF24L01

since u r using devo 10, i highly suggest u use the multi module board. i ordered the 3 multi module board. i will do multi module mod for my fren devo 7e and my own devo 7e. will definitely buy devo 10 in the future since i got extra multi module board.
By using multi module board i can install 3 extra module cc2500 +  NRF24L01 + A7105 ( i dunno why i need cc2500 cos i dont have any frsky receiver , i do it just for the sake of doing it
*
Where you ordered the CYRF6936 module? I see Banggood had stopped selling it already. Asking it just in case I need it in the future, currently so far so good laugh.gif

Well don't need the cc2500 at all so won't bother doing it. I'll be using the main module for my 450 heli and my NRF module for my V977 micro mostly, Installed the A7105 module to bind with my V911 for fun but either I did something wrong or I fried my A7105 module while desoldering it from the V911 tx. It can bind to my V911 and it the cyclic controls work smoothly with the heli in my hand, but once I spool up the throttle, all cyclic movements becomes jerky. It's like the refresh rate for the servo's are like 2 times per second. Searched around and can't find any definitive answer at all. Tried everything from using other people's model file, reflashing the firmware but nothing seems to work. The V911 is pretty flyable though since the cyclic stick is usually full forward anyways laugh.gif

Also, rerouted my modules location so the antenna is on the upper portion of the transmitter, seems to get better signal now for my V977, tried going roughly 80m without loss of signal, will try 100-120m tomorrow and see if the signal breaks.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Still sad that my A7105 module can't control my V911 nicely though, already tried binding with other V911 and still the same sad.gif

I may be able to get some cheap used Devo 10's though, someone I know might be selling his, only problem is that he's in Indon and he's letting it go pretty cheap. He have 2 of it, and one of them seems to have a failure in a pot I think as he said the rudder control is gone. Not sure should I take it or not though

What else do you fly by the way? I see a V911 in the photo with the modded paddle flybar. Used to have one of those but broke it and lazy to order again tongue.gif

Here's some photos from last week's flight with some friends. Mine is only the V450D03 with the gold canopy and the V977 micro next to it, no money to afford larger helis laugh.gif

Ultimate goal would be to try everything, fixed wing and racing quads. Already flew Phantoms and Inspires so that's ticked on my checklist laugh.gif

QUOTE(davidwyl @ Aug 30 2015, 12:35 PM)
i hightly suggest u use conductive ink to do the devo 7e range mod. the component inside is almost impossible to see.
if u screwed up the stock devo 7e module, u can always buy module for devo 8s just like what i did to mine.
u can get the neck strap balancer from ebay, i got mine below RM10 2,3months ago. now u need to pay more thanks to our impressive currency performance.
*
Is that diode really that small? I'm actually thinking of just dripping a drop of solder onto it, totally covering the diode. Do you think that will work?

I see they sell the balancer on Banggood, might consider getting one then.

Woah bro, awesome scale model you have there! Looks like your ADI isn't exactly tallying up with the actual attitude of the aircraft tongue.gif laugh.gif

Looking at your post history and website, damn man you have such extensive history with flying! Sifu!

Want to ask though, usually when you fly FPV, like on your Mustang, what equipment do you use and how far do you fly? vtx, goggles, transmitter etc. Looks like your camera follows your head movement so I'm guessing you're using goggles?

Also where do you fly bro? Would be very interested to meetup with you laugh.gif

i fly lot of quad mini quad but all brush motor, i thinking to buy cheerson cx-20 for my next quad.
for heli i fly v911, v977, super cp, master cp.

didnt noticed any jerkiness in my v911 or v977, seem smooth.

btw, i successfully installed MUlti module into my devo 7e. so not all the protocol is enable.  thumbup.gif
got 1 exta multi module board, thinking to buy devo 10 or not.  laugh.gif

[attachmentid=4897983]
regarding the diode mod, u can drop a soldering iron on top but i strongly advise u work under magnifying glass and using a super fine soldering tip.
conductive ink still the best la, cheap also.

banggood stop selling CYRF6936 chip. maybe run out of stock.

my flybar broke also...didnt know will break so easy  doh.gif , now use back the old flybar
*
Probably my module is defective then. Shall try ordering a module from fleabay and see how. Though I'm still considering it since I don't actually fly my V911 anymore, just sometimes play v911 battle mode with my friends laugh.gif

Where to get the conductive ink locally and how much it costs?

Standard la V911 flybar, that's why last time when everyday play V911, buying the parts box from Banggood is the most worthwhile laugh.gif

Is the Cheerson CX-20 compatible with Devo? Don't think I saw that in the list of supported models though I do remember CX-10.

But seriously though, the Devo10 is so nice to hold in the hand, much better than the Devo 7E since the Devo 10 is a full-sized transmitter, and the white version looks cool tongue.gif

QUOTE(davidwyl @ Sep 5 2015, 06:20 PM)
i fly syma x8 too, so i added a 5.8ghz fpv with a extra 3s 500mah battery to power my fpv transmitter & cam.. view the fpv using my phone with easycap.
[attachmentid=4898074]
*
I have a friend with the Syma X8, don't really like it too much though the way it flies, especially with the slow as hell yaw rate! It's even slower than my V933 micro and I consider that super slow already!

Not sure where to get conductive ink  locally, I ordered mine from aliexpress.

Cx20 came with nice remote and everything pre set.  So don't think I will fly using devo.

For flying mini  quad/heli devo 7e look more "appropriate"...but I do agree devo 10 is better choice. for those who want to get first devo tx, just go for devo 10. Cos if u get 7e u Will want to get devo 10 one day..

Syma x8 is super slow yaw  can make it abit faster by using deventionTX setting but still slow.
If u plan to hang a camera on x8 guess slower yaw will be an advantage cos less shaky video.
*
yeah I see the remote looks pretty decent, but still would prefer to fly everything with one transmitter haha.

IMO for serious video, nothing beats a 3-axis gimbal man laugh.gif

Cant sleep well tonight after i flew away my quad into the skies & never returned
Luckily its just a cheap s quad, but still.....the adrenaline rush & nervouseness haunts me....quite worried too as it seems to lost from sight at some housing area, hopefully it lands on some trees & not on top of someone's car or worse, someone's head...but 1 thing for sure, im quite impress as its still controlable that far just that the wind and ofcourse my noobiness couldnt react fast to recover is the main cause..

Ahhh man....the moment it flew away & getting smaller n smaller with the sunset in the background....damn
*
What model quad is it? I know how it feels bro, I lost my V262 quad on it's first flight after I got it 2nd hand from my friend. Took off from my house and I flew it too far and too high and the wind up there was stronger than expected, couldng't counter the wind and lost orientation, killed the throttle then saw it dropping to one of the houses, spent more than an hour looking for it but no luck eventhough I know roughly where it fell. Most probably stuck at someone's roof already by now. Oh well, at least I managed to scavenge the transmitter for the NRF24L01 module I used to mod to my Devo 10 laugh.gif

QUOTE(SupermotoXL @ Sep 7 2015, 02:48 PM)
I use FPV video goggle with head tracker capability, Ground station unit and high dbi directional patch antenna. Fly between point A-B  distance is between 5~7km on normal days with mileage ~25km per-round.  On cloudy windy days it can for further and longer thanks to wind lift.
I live in borneo, move about from coastal to coastal to find perfect spot to fly and also check if the zone/area above me is safe to fly.
*
Damn man, sounds like some really nice kit indeed. Define ground station though? Kinda confused with that terminology. Not too familiar with FPV terms as of yet. You fly in the more remote areas bro? 5-7km is AWESOME range man! What transmitter, vtx and etc do you use? I know you listed in your video but couldn't play it back again as I'm staying outstation now and currently low on quota laugh.gif

QUOTE(azyune @ Sep 7 2015, 04:39 PM)

Only with deviation 4.0 though, else is stock as I don't fly wltoys anymore, wouldn't bother to do any module mod  biggrin.gif

Hi all... new here.... might i ask...

can point me some tips on where to start if i want to build my first low budget quadcopter?

And in penang where do you guys normally go fly on weekends?
*
You can join FB groups like Dunia RC Group and Quadcopter Malaysia etc there are sellers there offering packages and they are really cheap! With a FlySky T6 bundle, you could get one in around RM700. Kit comes with basic frame, 4 motors, 4 ESC, rx and a basic QQ flight controller. Personally really tempted in getting one though, but not sure want to get a plane first or a quad. Also you can find a local hobby store there, I'm sure they have one.

QUOTE(IvanWong1989 @ Sep 7 2015, 11:26 PM)
I tried those ready to fly low cost imitation quadcopters before. using tiny brushed motors...

Flying basic should be ok. Just i can't stand brushed motors wearing out...@@... haha. Does brushless motors wear out too?
*
Brushless motors almost never wear out, at least not in the methodology brushed motors wear out. Also they run much cooler. Only thing that wears out on a brushless motors are the bearings but even those are very rare.

A guy named 'Low Hong' from Melaka seems to have alot of budget quad parts for sale, he even offers package deals

Can check out his store page here

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1653233401557900/

Disclaimer though, I had not dealt with him before and am recommending solely from looking at his adverts on DRC and various other RC/quad groups. He seems to be pretty reputable and experienced for quads and airplanes. Don't look like he have heli stuff though.

QUOTE(SupermotoXL @ Sep 10 2015, 09:20 AM)
A ground station a secondary FPV monitor, a DVR and sometimes a telemetry module attached on tripod to record the plane movement, telemetric information, tracking and also most importantly as plane 'BLACK BOX' should anything happen to the plane.  I only use standard 5.8ghz vtx, video goggle with head tracking system, standard FCC compliant radio control transmitter.  What make it a successful long range flight was a home made modified video/radio antenna transmission which i built my self thanks to the internet.

Yes it has GPS telemetry data on my OSD, fly beyond light of sight from cockpit view.  As you can see inside this video below somewhere in the middle of the video clip there's an inset of HUD(OSD = pilot view) layout that shows instrumental flight data, altitude, orientation and other stuff which allow me to fly without looking outside scenery if i do stuck inside the clouds or flying in the dark just like real pilot.

Video:

*
Sounds cool! So you actually record the actual video being transmitted by the VTX on your setup on top of the seperate video recorder you placed inside the plane eh. What is required to consider it as a 'ground station'? Is your antenna actually still on the default positions or is it an external antenna module of some sorts? I see you're somewhat avoiding the question of what TX you're using, but looking at your site I'm guessing some Turnigy model? laugh.gif

QUOTE(IvanWong1989 @ Sep 10 2015, 07:02 PM)
hmmm.... any recommendation on beginner quad flight controllers?

I might be getting a

Flysky i6
450mm quad ---> usual... 4 esc, 4 motor, 4 props
4500mah lipo for quad
Lipo charger

How about qq super thunder?

Honestly I have no experience on quads so can't really recommend but I see CC3S and QQ being pretty popular.

Anyway, I just got hold of a WK-CTL01-D Telemetry module for my V450D03, now I can monitor the voltage and important temps directly on my tx and quickly land before my battery explodes! Woohooo!!

After a quick flight today the connection seems to be pretty intermittent and unstable, hit up the Deviation forum and they asked me to install the latest nightly. Apparently the 'Nightly' under downloads section isn't exactly the latest nightly. I thought my 26-7-2015 firmware was the latest nightly already but the real Nightlys are under 'Test Builds' and can be reached here. Did a quick bench test earlier and all seems good!

Also had a near-major crash earlier today when a component of the swashplate, being the anti-rotation pin and pitch control ball link unscrewed itself, mid-flip! Managed to hit throttle hold in time and somehow got the heli back upright and landed pretty damn hard, but on it's skids! Zero damages from that 'crash'. Need to inspect my rotating components more frequent and also add in some loctite. I think my heli did 3-4 hours of flight time without inspection in this area which is why it happened.

I'm a bit of a tinkerer.

I build robots. Mini. . Study ai.  Open stuffs to know how they work.

I also like to fly
But so far my experience limited to flight simulators.  N private pilot license.    Is way out of my league. Just an average jor not rich not very poor.

interested in quads for a long time but $$$ prevented me from engaging when I'm still a student.  Now after 1 2 years working.
Considering put aside some money for it. *financial people will say it's stupid.  Better save money buy house. But life isn't just about saving saving to me.. there's more. *

as for the goal.
I'm going for a smaller quad n hopefully branch out to fpv.
Later on only think about aerial photography.
I want to view fpv flying High n fast.
*
I guess you can join those facebook groups I mentioned and I'm sure you will find what you want. FPV racer or Drone Rempit as they call it(laugh.gif) are flooding those groups and there are plenty of stuff to choose from multiple sellers. Once you get hit by the flying bug you won't stop bro, unless you become like what debonairs91 mentioned. Set a goal, find out what really interests you, do your research, make sure you know how everything works, what component does what etc then make a list of components you need to get. Also not forgetting to get the necessary tools. For heli you'd need at the most basic a hex key set and a decent small sized screwdriver set.

I'm planning to branch out to fixed wing and quads when I get the chance financially smile.gif

I do it bcoz it can be done  😂 & frsky is a famous brand in RC. With cc2500 I can use frsky receiver (planing to buy a 250 size quad  diy kit in the future).
And I noticed frsky receiver is cheap compare to other brand (I might be wrong due to limited knowledge in receiver)

@Nightstalker1993 can u share your v450 .ini model file?  Just want to see how others do it.
Btw I did another deve 7e for my fren
[attachmentid=4953881]
*
yeah no doubt FrSky is a famous brand in RC but I don't think their receivers are that cheap. FlySky I know is cheap though. Does the Deviation protocol for FrSky do telemetry and also I heard the FrSky protocol can alert you when the signal is weak, does Deviation have that? Maybe I'll swap out my A7105 module for the CC2500 if I find a need for it in the future. Don't fly my V911 anymore so the A7105 module is kinda wasted space.

For me my next aircraft I'll still run a Devo RX. The RX601 is only RM60 or so after convert from Banggood and the 10ch receiver is around RM100 from Banggood as well.

Awesome job on the 2nd 7E bro! Looks awesome with the tri-antenna man. My V450D03 model file is attached, you can have a look at it. I set mine in flight mode 3 to be for autorotation though as my heli's receiver/gyro is kinda unique in that the gyro only works above certain throttle value so if I hit throttle hold for autorotation practise, the gyro doesn't work and it'll be a beaaaatch to control.

Also recently installed the Walkera telemetry unit onto my heli, now I can remove the annoying low voltage beeper and fly with much more confidence having the battery voltage in my hands and also monitoring tail servo, ESC and battery temperature in case any of them goes beyond limits. Main page looks messy as hell now with the telemetry data on the main page on top of each other covering the heli icon laugh.gif

Bro. What do you fly currently ?

Also.. Normally where do you order your stuffs ? Wondering which site is reliable.  I normally order from cytron for non rc stuff.  Just electronics.  Local seller.

But for rc stuff hmm......

Well I fly a Micro heli WLToys V977, and a 450-sized heli, a Walkera V450D03.

For my V977 I get most of my spares from Banggood.com and also certain items for my 450. If I can purchase locally and the price does not differ much I will purchase locally. My Devo 10 I got it from a dude from the DRC Facebook group.

Don't know of any one-stop website for multirotors yet but I think there are some local sites selling it yet to be discovered. I think it's easier to find sellers on the fb group and contacting the sellers directly. Can check out the Melaka dudde I mentioned, seen him posting alot of stuff recently and his price seems to be pretty cheap. My personal opinion though, spend more initially for your transmitter and choose a good one. A good transmitter can last you for ages without needing to upgrade etc.

Anyway, just rearranged my screen, now it looks better laugh.gif

MyRCMart? Only Penang one I can think of haha. When you building it up then? Do post your progress!

Thanks for sharing SupermotoXL! Very informative article you've written. And no wonder you can get so long range flight, youre using a high gain directional antenna laugh.gif

I see in the article you wrote about antenna tracking, how exactly does it work? How does it home in on the antenna signal to know the direction and adjust the antenna angle from there? hmm.gif

Anyway, today I helped my friend with the Devo 7E range mod and holy shit the diode is bloody small! You really can't really tell how small it is from all the photos online until you really see it. My eyes hurt after doing the mod, using my flashlight for illumination at the highest brightness and also the solder used to maintain my soldering iron tip condition goodwhile removing that damned radio shield!

The diode really caught me by surprise how small it is and i do not have conductive ink with me. Masked the area with masking tape and somehow managed to desolder the diode unintentionally then I used a single strand of wire and used that to help bridge the two points with the solder and it worked! After the solder dried, cut off the test of the wire and triple check that there is no short and reinstall the rf shield. Flight test and the range mod worked!
