not use too much C draw
but need burst for take off

should work, but please get a reliable high discharge li-ion, for safety. samsung/panasonic/sony are good ones. not those lousy ultrafires. do note though that 3 piece of high discharge li-ions are more expensive than a 3-cell lipo. cost wise. you can easily get these high discharge li-ions in vape stores. 20-35A is pretty easy to find.

SupermotoXL did share how he connects the batts together some pages back. that will help you get the general idea. nod.gif

from my own experience, both li-ion & lipo will get the motors to the same max speed(volt), but lipos will get you there quicker(C rating). also in load bearing circuits, lipos will be able to handle better load since C rate X capacity(in Ah) = max Amp.

*see, i've learn a lot of electronics mumbo-jumbo from this hobby laugh.gif .

a question on GPS module. is there an orientation in which to physically install it?

i've managed to setup mine, getting a lock and everything, but do i need to pay attention to the physical orientation?

ahh...great. it doesn't have a compass. i keep looking for an orientation arrow of some sort doh.gif . cant find any. now i dont have to worry about how to tuck in the wiring.

thank you very much. thumbup.gif

yea..

or normal alkaline battery better?
*
li-ion is 3.7v nominal. alkaline is 1.5v nominal. they are not the same. depends on what the transmitter required. general rule, more voltage than required = boom!. shocking.gif

the reason i got this idea is because the controller got 1 usb port which able to charge up the helicopter..

im thinking if im using bigger mah battery on the controller, then im able to charge the helicopter more...

but, dono isit workable..  laugh.gif
*
that would mean it needs 3.7v(4.2v max). the controller is probably using a 1 cell lipo. li-ion(any size) works as well. you can get either lipo or li-ion as long as you can figure out how to connect it. please note the discharge current output from the controller though. your new batt must be able to provide the same or more. else, the charging cycle will be slower. shouldn't be a problem with cheap lipos, but cheap li-ion can really be wonky. rclxub.gif

my company (my department) now owning DJI PHANTOM 3 Pro
and im the pilot
when using DJI GO, i feel DJi go function system is useless, only POI i can use
the function waypoint is different like i though

so im serching any 3rd party system that i can use,
and i found LITCHI
anyone use LITCHI?
*
so your phantom actually have video feed in dji-vision? not like many others who were screwed by dji updates?

i've tried litchi, it doesn't allow you to control the gimbal. at least i can find that function rclxub.gif . also, i think litchi consumes more battery.

Hi guys,

I'm new to racing drone scene and still learning acro mode and FPV flight. Very2 hard to find a suitable place to fly my quad, thus slowing down my progress.

Anyone here from central KL area? Usually I went to fly at Padang Merbok.

Any good location to learn flying quad around KL or Putrajaya?

Let me know if we can fly together.
*
i usually just fly around any nearby field. be it a football field, playground with not much obstacles, a bit flat ground no ones using or even the main road in front of my house....never flew in a designated rc field before. as long as there is enough clearance. sweat.gif

i do agree though, fpv requires a lot of space. else you'll just end up worrying that your blades might hit something, thus doing more LoS than FPV flight. shakehead.gif

Hi guys... after months of studying while waiting for the parts to arrive from Banggood, I have finally gotten around to building my first ever mini quad using a Kingkong 210-sized sandwich frame + CC3D on LibrePilot.

It's soooo satisfying to fly something I had handpicked the specs for, assembled, screwed together, soldered with my own two hands and configured on my laptop all on my own.

Now I can finally graduate from RealFlight 7.5 simulator and my stupid toy micro drone to the real thing. LOL...

Already I learned that a low voltage buzzer is not an accessory but a necessity because I stupidly drained out my two new 2200mah LiPos. One went puffy... the other one, well... I'm learning how to recover a badly discharged LiPo now. *SIGH*
*
congrats.

badly discharged lipos are pretty much dead if you managed to get a cell below 3.3v. it is easy to over discharge when you are having fun. nod.gif

battery tester & voltage alarms are pretty much staple. for programmable quads, you can make due with OSD + voltage sensor.

TIP: use those tester and alarm combo thingy. one that you can set the alarm level. i like to set the alarm at 3.7v during flight. that way, when you land, you batt will be around 3.8v = storage voltage. thumbup.gif

btw, puffy doesn't just mean overdischarge. it could also mean over draw. as in you are drawing more than what the lipo can provide. usually happens when you are too aggressive with the throttle. in this case, get higher C rating.

Hey good tip!

BTW.... where can I get locking nuts for my propellers? My RCX motors came with those spinner type thingies that have a habit of coming loose. The other day a plastic bag floating in the wind snagged one of the props and the spinner just disappeared. Now I'm grounded until I can find a way to screw down the prop.

The specs say the prop mount has a 5mm shaft, does that mean it'll take M5 size lock nuts?

http://www.myrcmart.com/rcx-h18066-2400kv-...ame-p-7990.html

Also... when throttling down to land, my quad has a nasty habit of bouncing like a yo-yo before even touching the ground. As a result I tend to cut the throttle causing the quad to land hard. Is this normal?
*
M5 nut is 5mm, yes, but you need to check the thread spacing as well. if you don't plan on removing the props after each flight(to store in a case or something), just get some thread lock(blue).

throttle is usually pretty linear, and prop wash wont really cause bouncing. does it happen in all mode, rate and stabilize mode?

Here just sharing another evening flying my F-15 EAGLE EDF jet in the open area, all stock electronics no upgrades.  Flew well and very floaty too.

Any cheap and recommended 3D heli for beginner. Previously I've fly a V911, so what i am thinking myb go for WLToys V977. But is there any other good and reasonable price option out there??
*
i my view, WLToys IS the definition of cheap and affordable. nothing hobby grade would come close to the price...unless you count used units.

greetings, would like to get a drone.

which brand would you guys recommend for a beginner?
*
well, that depends on:

- what you want to do?
- your budget?
- skill level?

too many to choose from. you need to ask specifically to get a specific answer. else it's: "get want you can afford as your 1st drone".

For QX90c so far ok except for some complaints on flying props,  why not get QX95 since its extra +5mm in length and racer like specification for almost the same price.  I'm happy with my QX95  biggrin.gif
....
*
Q90c is lighter and smaller while using the same component as QX95. i think the flying prop problem applies to all eachine's model that uses that motor/prop combo. just a hit or miss thing. the qx90 looks better with a prop guard than qx95 nod.gif .

already ordered yesterday, and now for the long wait. sweat.gif

for the cheap solution, try some those syma x5 & x8 variant with cameras. since it will be your 1st, don't go with brushless.

as a first drone, don't get something with GPS, you wont learn anything with those things. unless your plan is not to learn anything about RC fliers and just take pictures laugh.gif

i would also advise against building your own 1st drone. concentrate on learning to fly instead of how to make it fly rclxub.gif .

now go shop away. a budget of 1k allows for a lot of choices thumbup.gif .
