QUOTE(rifle_m16 @ Jan 6 2013, 10:43 AM) Thanks, bro. I'm gonna kill my E372 anytime with -444 value. For the meantime, I don't need LTE because the speed is like graveyard shift and web surfing is F awesome. Signal Strength :- [attachmentid=3246744] does it increase your connection speed ?

QUOTE(digilife @ Jan 6 2013, 01:59 PM) not abt money, i have a few unuse modems around , moreover if one of my modem failed, i will inform you guys to stop........btw, my e1762 have the best result, from RSSI -95dBm , set to -200 ( default is 80 ) gives me RSSI of -65dBm , speed 4Mbps ( 7.2Mbps modem) , shaved off -35dBm , without Antenna........... Fiber Like [attachmentid=3247049] nice one. Signal strength is even better than antenna.

QUOTE(chuahcs79 @ Jan 6 2013, 03:10 PM) try to add 200 to original value,. original value -226 , add to up = -426 then u will see effect, dont over than -450 value have you compare speed before and after tweak? I also think this tweak may just makes modem read signal strength wrongly.

I was curious so I search it "NV_WCDMA_VGA_GAIN" google, only got 1 result , a Master thesis from China Shandong University.
It's not easy to translate, so i just translate it in my way I guess DVGA is Dynamic Variable Gain Amplifier. This value is to make sure modem DVGA signal strength (RSSI) same with tower's power value, under living temperature and given frequency. Every 12 value = 1 dBm minimum value = -512 maximum value = 511 Recommended value = - 74 dBm ------------------- Too bad he didn't state the side effect of under/over value.

QUOTE(raizo7 @ Jan 6 2013, 05:19 PM) which means when we change the value, the signal strength not same anymore with the tower's? i mean the modem didn't show the actual value? ------------------- btw, I tried what chuahcs said tweaked it to -426 speed not much changed but browsing is much more smooth now still wondering what this tweak actually done to us.. ya I think so. Manufacturers tweak to "correct" value according to each modem. Tweaking this value screw up RSSI display value but we get better signal because every location has different optimum value. Tweaked my E372 VGA value from -224 to -424/-444/-324 , no positive effect. One negative effect is Mr3420 v2 can't connect to Maxis after tweaking. So I back to -224 . I am happy as flahsing mr3420 to older firmware and now it running at full speed instead of 8mbps cap.

QUOTE(Vista-X @ Jan 6 2013, 11:25 PM) Nice find bro, . Before tweak the value of "NV_WCDMA_VGA_GAIN_OFFSET_1" my browsing always lags or stuck at loading, now its as smooth as land line. And it works even with panel antenna. Nice to hear it works for you. I think the reason I don't feel any changes is because my page loading speed is fast already.

QUOTE(z720 @ Jan 10 2013, 09:28 AM) hey guys out there, did you guys facing a problem when sharing 3G using router, does the speed impacted when someone downloading ? Coz I'm using E372 with vodafone HG556a router having this problem ler, when I'm downloading, my tablets loading web page like snail, and my IPTV totally stop to response. Everything back to normal after I stop downloading. It looks like speed is there but the bandwidth not too sure .. it never happen if using TM "stimme" You should limit your speed when downloading. If your broadband is 10mbps and your download takes 10mbps, surely other devices can't connect internet well.

QUOTE(z720 @ Jan 10 2013, 10:34 AM) OIC looks like the modem dont know how to split the load. tq. Not all routers load balancing function. Even if got that function, you have to turn it on manually. Maybe you can login your router and see if you can limit upload/download speed per user.
