I think it's like retail pharmacists doing what doctors do the best - diagnosing the problems and giving out medicines?

Got the BB1M recently and considering text books to buy. Looking for pharmacology books, any suggestions?
Btw, is the Lexi-comp Drug Information Handbook worth to have in hand? already had BNF and MIMs in hand.

Btw I'm a 2nd year BPharm student. smile.gif

I just did my placement at hospital and Lexi-comp Drug Information Handbook is one of the frequently used reference by the pharmacist in drug information department.

Other useful text books I'm currently using:
- Rang & Dale
- Aulton's Pharmaceutical
- Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine

You can ask your lecturer as well.

First batch graduated students are in their 2nd year of government service if I'm not mistaken.

and where can we purchase the pharmacy law books? 100 questions on pharmacy forensic is quite torturing though..in australia our written exam only consists 8 forensic questions and the rest (142 questions) are calculations and clinical.
*
Aside from passing the forensic exam, you'll need to obtain Certificate of Exemption from the pharmacy board by writing a letter to the secretary.
Maybe Pharmacy Board should include calculations and clinical questions too brows.gif

application for provisional exemption yea? I was reading the application guide and it mentioned that applicant has to attend an interview conducted by the Public Service Commission. In my circumstance I have no intention to work in public hospital though. Does this requirement still apply to me?
*
I'm fairly certain you still need to get the certificate of exemption as long as you want to work as a pharmacist.
To my understanding, it is so that the Pharmacy Board recognises the experience you gained by working overseas and have the required skills to be a pharmacist in Malaysia.

Hi, i m very interested in doing pharmacy in Monash University Malaysia. From the previous posts, I was informed that the certificate awarded will be different from the one awarded in Australia campus. Is this true ? May I know what are the differences between them ? Also, I was a bit confused whether the certificate awarded by Monash University Malaysia will be an honours degree or not for pharmacy ? From the previos posts, I got to know that one needs to score above a certain point in CGPA in order to be awarded an honours degreee , may I know what is the point in CGPA one needs to get ? Thank you.
*
They are overall the same except on topics related to local context such as law. Lecturers usually will add in extra information or extra slides to further elaborate them especially when it is different in Malaysia compared to Aus.
Well, your final academic transcript does not state where you graduated from.
To be awarded with honours degree you'll have to achieve at least weighted average mark (WAM) of 60%.

You can read more on the grading schema here:

Then , does graduating from which university be it Monash ,IMU ,AIMST or orther universities make any significant differences n impacts on one's work prospects ?
*
Personally I think eventually it depends on the individual but I do see a difference in the quality of graduates from different universities.

What do you mean by new interview system in place ? Pharmacy board will have interview with students ? O.O #longtimenottalk
*
The interview used to be casual and as a formality only and questions asked were random and not related to pharmacy at times. Those who went for the interview mostly got accepted and offered a post.
Nowadays it's stricter and more relevant questions were asked thumbup.gif & not all will be selected.

Hi, I would like to ask after I done my prp in hospital, can I do my compulsory service in community pharmacy? what is the salary range in community pharmacy? is it 3000-4000?
*
No you can't do that but you can do locum sweat.gif
I subscribe to job street so that they send me email whenever there are job offers that matched those I set (community pharmacist). From the offers I received, for FRP (after PRP), the basic is generally from RM5000++, up to RM8000++ for those with 1-2 yearas experience.
