Well, at my hometown, telco shops (e.g Authorised Service Agents) do also place some "home-made" buntings for promos and products (especially iPhones) last time. So it's not necessarily fake, but it can be the shop went the extra mile as they haven't yet received their media stuffs from telco in anticipation of a launch already known by them.

Yup, but if I own a shop and if I'm gonna just do that, i'll straight advertise to the crowd "iPhone 5 Available Now".
Thinking as an AP set seller, it's always a good idea to capitalise on impulse buys for such product. So physically advertising a booking for AP iPhones doesn't really makes sense. But I'm not totally discounting the probability of them may doing just that.
