@tescogot
Mind sharing how much he charged you for your knife?
Been thinking of sending my 2 ZTs for sharpening as my Sanrenmu and Enlan are sharper out of the box

I have 0900 and 0562CF.
I did post the photo maybe a few pages back.

I bought my ZTs overseas so they are still reasonably priced, if compared to local prices.

Meanwhile below is some of the Chinese knives that I have.
Not in the picture are a red Ganzo G704 in my glovebox, a Ganzo G739 with Carbon Fiber handle still in the mail from China and 2 Sanrenmus I left in my kampung.

hey guys it's been a while.
ZT is good value for the materials and the designers in place. if you ask me.. KAI is one of the stronger big shop knife manufacturers out there. covering kitchen knives (KAI), EDC and hunting (Kershaw) and with Zero tolerance covering the high end production knives, has covered almost all factors of production knives.
since their production is covered through so many brands and production lines QC is good, customer service is good and most of all, they have good economies of scale.

there are quite a few places selling it. i often see them during the craft fairs that the local craft organization organizes. and someone on facebook is selling it quite extensively on the likes of Blade.my and jual pisau di sini groups
however, please note that Kerambit are explicitly illegal according to our local laws and regulations
I would advise agaisnt getting that in the first place
very much a single purpose self defense blade.
which is illegal

Finally manage to find Hnderer XM-18 3" slicer, Gen3 in the exchange.
The knife feels good in the hand as I do find my ZT 0562CF kinda large for EDC duty.

Now the bad part is, I'm feeling a bit underwhelmed wih the knife.
I'm a "flipperholic", if there's such a word for it :s13:
The latest Gen3 3" has stronger detent than the earlier 2 gens, but the blade just doesn't fly out like my 2 ZTs.
But I think I should be contended that no wrist action is needed to flip open the Hinderer.
My second peeved is that the pivot screw will come loosen after a few flipping, so I need to go out and search for loctite.
Thirdly, even though it is a slicer grind, the blade is still quite thick and it doesn't do very well in peeling some mangos skins biggrin.gif

congrats on your new acquisition, the 3" slicer grind hinderers are one of the only ones i would get. (the 3.5 and above... im not a fan, i do like the skinner grind though, odd as it is)
about the pivot screw. loctite would work but if you want a cheaper, non invasive method that might work too. try using a bit of teflon tape (the white tape that plumbers use on threads) on the threads and then screw it back in

welcome to the world of accessorizing.
may the words Steel Flame never cross your path

good luck finding low strength loctite here.
i looked before also couldnt find.
medium and high strength got, but those later if u want to undo it needs heat.

there are some other similar ones like v-tech or permatex available in ace hardware that comes in low strength...but i cheapskate so i just used nailpolish as a temporary thread locker.

As for the strong detent, leave the knife open halfway so the detent ball rest on the blade instead of the notch. If you want quicker result you can wedge a coin between them. Works well for my overly strong ZT detent wink.gif

Thanks for your reply guys.
The strong detent is not a problem, as I'm already used to my 2 ZTs.
I think I'm just underwhelmed by the flipping action, which I kinda understand as Rick Hinderer designed the XM series many years ago to be serviceable in the field, hence the use of Teflon washer instead of bearing.

But fast forward to present days and the use of caged-bearing in some of the latest knives makes the XM-18 kinda dated, although the ergo and the feeling in the hand are still top notch.

Well, it's good to see this thread is still alive. Anyway, I'm not really a knife collector, but I do have some interest in knife as I'm often going for outdoor activities such as camping, fishing (casting) and bowhunting (compound bow).

I do have bowie knife that I bought from local shop with 6-7 inches blade length but I'm not really fancy about that blade as I found out it's not really practical at some situation. So for the last few days I started to lurk around Ebay and Aliexpress to look for good and affordable EDC neck knife. I also watch some review in Youtube to decide which is the best for my use.

my first choice is ESEE IZULA neck knife, but the price is quite stiff for my wallet. There are also fake version of ESEE IZULA in aliexpress at the price of usd8 but youtube review say it's low quality finishing.

So I keep lurking around and found this SCHRADE SCHF16, at about usd15. I did search the company background, it's USA origin and manufacturing their product in China, so chance for me to get fake version is slim as it's cheap and widely available. Good review in Youtube as well biggrin.gif

Checked in Mudah.my and the price they sale is way more than I get from Aliexpress, so I place my order from Aliexpress and hoping my rm61 will not burnt (pray for kastam to release my package..huhu). I am Ebay & Aliexpress regular customer, usually I ordered compound bow, broadhead, arrows, fishing rod & reel, camping equipments, motorcycle parts & apparels, electronic stuffs.... and this is my 1st time ordering/purchasing knife from abroad.

below is the picture from seller page, package should be here within 2-3 weeks if everything goes smooth.
