Last week met a friend who had a nice piece of sharp steel to sell.
I've always been a sucker for tactical knives and Buck 184 used to be on top of my wish list quite some time ago. So when this friend offered his for sale, I just cant help myself from giving it an eyeball. Here's some shots of the merchandise: ![]() He bought this blade from UFL through World of Sports outlet back in the late 90s. This item have never been used and have been kept in storage, gathering dust for over a decade and a half. It have since lost its box, small pouch and silva compass, so only the knife and scabbard left. ![]() ![]() This is a later model, most probably post 1986 production of Buck 184 a.k.a. "Buck Master". For more info see here: http://www.buck-184.com/ ![]() Upon inspection, the blade doesnt show any sign of use, or resharpening and still retain the original factory edge. only nicks and scratches visible (at least to my eyes) are caused by the sheath. Even the sharpening stone doesnt show any sign of use. ![]() Although unused, the condition is far from pristine, the dust and years of neglect havent been kind to the 184. It'll require some serious cleaning, restoration and TLC.... nothing that a good loving owner cant provide. ![]() ![]() I would've loved to relieve this piece of knife history from its current owner, unfortunately I've already stretched my cash flow to the limit and with a few more events to be concluded in the coming months, I had to decline this most tempting offer. If anybody interested in getting it, shoot me a PM. |

and now for eye candy:
This is something a customer bought from me and with his permission, I took some photos for a quick review.. here's the pic of the box: ![]() Out of the box.. it contains the knife itself, wrapped in safety sticker and a spare pocket clip to affix to the opposite side of its body if you so choose. ![]() Here's the knife coming out of its red safety wrapper: ![]() A teaser... the prominent blade shape that reminds you of a kukri ![]() The brand.... aaaaaahhh... ![]() The name.... ![]() Compared side by side with a proven jungle performer: The king and the bushman ![]() If you think its a pocket knife, think again.... is your pocket big enuff? ![]() |

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply... i just got back from running an outdoor teambuilding camp.
gtasaboss: balisongs are a total no-no! its listed in the Offensive Weapons Act, and therefore illegal to own or carry. I dont and wont sell them. I cannot speak for others. tnehsc: I sell those... just havent got the time to add them to the website. PM/email me if you are seriously interested in getting one. CocoMongo: Sorry I dont sell Benchmade. You can try to source for them locally at CoreZone or mycorezone.com nitevision92: I own a boker subcom CLB, part of the magnum range. I like them a lot, small, compact, sturdy, sharp, secure lock and good edge retention. unfortunately, due to its economical pricing, it uses a cheaper high carbon steel and prone to rust if not regularly cleaned and oiled. mine a Malaysia Knife Forums' limited edition like the one pictured here: ![]() This post has been edited by alqa: Jun 20 2010, 11:46 PM |

bro, tnehsc... i apologize for not replying sooner. I just came back from running an outdoor induction camp in Melaka.
well its good for you to take the effort to write to kastam, pdrm and later you'll be referred to KDN. I guess, you've just successfully poked the hornets nest. that's why the americans come up with this policy: "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" cos once you've asked, you might not like the answers, and since you are now well informed, therefore if you still persist, you have legally breached the law and eligible for persecution. On the other hand if you dont ask, you didnt know and therefore you were 'uninformed' on the matter and might just get away with a warning. ..... aaaah ignorance is bliss. I've sold a few Kershaw Outcast, which uses D2 steel. In the case of Outcast, the blade is coated with black oxide coating. However after considerable use, the coating will slowly diminish due to wear and tear. Based on the users feedback, if not properly cleaned and treated, it will rust and rust fast.
Yes the D2 is more wear resistant, easy to sharpen and can hold the edge considerably longer.. but you need to care for it as well. keep it sharpen after each use to ensure shaving sharp edge and make sure its clean and oiled/coated before lengthy/prolonged storage. best method to coat/oil is tuf-glide.. wipe using its tuf-cloth. available here: www.blade.my |

hi guys... sorry for the long absence.
Recent arrival of new family member had screwed my scheduling. My in-laws had insisted that my wife and baby stay with them throughout her confinement period and that have resulted in me having to commute from Shah Alam to Seremban on a daily basis. sorry that i couldnt keep up with this thread, but if you have any request or inquiries, just shoot me an email at sales@blade.my |

QUOTE(nitevision92 @ Jul 12 2010, 12:19 AM) Ha ha... I sell both Boker and Emerson... and you are comparing a Beemer to a Perodua. Emerson LaGriffe is neck knife that results from a collaboration between Ernest Emerson and Fred Perrin, both are renowned knifemaker. Its made of 154CM and meant to be worn as a concealed/backup weapon. The 154CM is easy to sharpen and can hold an edge making the LaGriffe a premium neck knife following in the tradition of earlier Perrin's LaGriffe (french for Claw) style. The Subclaw is another member of the Boker's highly successful Subcom series. Its a sub-compact folding knife that can fit in your wallet and can easily be passed as a money clip. designed by Chad Los Banos, a Hawaiian martial art practitioner and happened to be a friend of mine. manufactured in China under licensed by Boker Solingen of Germany. The blade is made from AUS 8 and hence its affordable pricetag. The LaGriffe is designed to be a sturdy concealable fixed blade, whilst the subclaw is meant as an economical compact folder. Which is better? depends on your needs and budget. The LaGriffe is made of better material and features top class craftmanship.. but its purty expensive and rather hard to explain when stopped at a roadblock due to its aggressive design and offensive form. on the other hand the subclaw is prone to rust if not cared and maintained.. pretty nimble looking when folded and might even be overlooked when you have cash clipped to it. and if confiscated you wont cry over it cos it cost less. please understand that both of these tools resemble the shape of a kerambit, which in the eyes of Malaysian lawmaker and enforcer, is a very dangerous and very illegal offensive weapon. I'm writing strictly from memory... so please correct me if i'm wrong haha.. i just stumbled upon this pic from google.. ![]() This post has been edited by alqa: Jul 19 2010, 04:12 PM |
