You really sure want to use D2?
As far as I know (limited knowledge in tooling), D2 is good but once you harden it, it becomes a little bit brittle. A drop onto the floor from good height will chirp the edge from what I heard. If you are looking for tooling steel, no need to look very far. ASSAB STEEL in Batu Caves offer a good variety of it and provide simple milling and hardening service. However not many engineering shop offer profile milling, but you can ask if they will do it or not. ASSAB is generally cost more but all their tool steel are sourced from their parents company in Sweden. Some poeple said Sweden is the best place to source for tool steel.

Hey, I'm looking to import a Next Gen/D2 KA-BAR full sized knife, is this possible by Malaysian law? I found no clause anywhere that states blades above 6" are prohibited.

Also, www.bussecombat.com. It may be a bit too rich for most of us though, but knifetests.com loves their INFI steel.

D2 will not chip upon dropping. Come on, use some common sense here.

Hey there alqa,

All my knives are back in Sabah, I'm currently in Penang so the only knife/multi tool I have with me now is the Leatherman Surge.

It's pretty much my EDC (every day carry)

When I go back end of september I will post more pics.

Cheers
