Try with same dosage and 1:2 ratio and short stop at 20 seconds. Taste and see if it's more acidity or not. 1:3 ratio is Lungo, definitely more body..

Got more acidity now rclxms.gif but still not as acid as previous beans, I guess that answers why the huge difference blush.gif

I've tasted latte made from that WPM espresso machine. I'd say it looks pretty decent for its price, in taobao its like 3300rmb only shocking.gif

Oh, in that case..you can maybe try grinding finer.. Your beans are medium roasted?

Anyway, gonna try the Kinto Slow Coffee..

Just comparing the filter it comes with to the Able Kone. Results and method wise, I would say they're similar. I initially needed a smaller carafe to fit the kone and such a pleasant surprise that it's own filter has the same performance for a fraction of the price. But of course, the Able Kone would fit the chemex better because of the bigger bumper.. The Kinto filter fits it as well, but a tad closer to the sides..

I've searched a bit on it.. It runs with thermoblock, not really a boiler.. Seems there are issues with it lasting for long.. Just Google "em6910 issues".. Maybe look at the Breville?
*
you're right, it's running on thermoblock. read about the differences between a boiler/thermoblock.. descaling is thus very important on a thermoblock..
on a budget perspective, the entry level for a single boiler is still very much higher than this wpm..

actually the em6900 carried more issues prior to em6910.. some of the issues are electronics in nature, others are materials (e.g leaking grouphead caskets).. it's definitely a caveat emptor to all buyers..
for below rm3k, would have a complete espresso machine and a proper cornical burr grinder..

thanks for your views though, i learnt something new.. smile.gif

Jura is a good brand great customer service here in states
If u looking a fully automatic machine Jura is better than saeco. But entry level these days made in Portugal

For < 3000 can get http://www.shopjura.com/factory-certified/...50-classic.html

For < 3700 can get a very nice http://www.shopjura.com/factory-certified/...-touch-tft.html

Thing with Jura u have to buy their cleaning products. They do last from my experience. Those who don't maintain them they break and do cost a lot to fix!

I read that Breville BES870 online saying that its a good model for home barista. Anyone using this encountering any problems? Am planning to get this for my home smile.gif

Currently using this machine. This is my first machine. Thus, unable to compare with other.

The like,

Grinder and brewer in one machine. Small thus, suitable for small kitchen.

Pressure gauge. Can know whether tamp and grind are consistent.

All in one. Tamper and milk pitcher were given together.

Good customer service, they sent technician to my home to have a look at my machine.

Don't like

Initially the grinder don't grind fine enough for espresso (at least on my unit) . Can't get the pressure gauge to the correct pressure. Done some adjustment and now the grind can choke the machine

Low steam pressure, longer frothing time. however good for beginner learning to froth milk

The Not so sure

54mm instead of 58mm Portafilter hard to find alternative tamper and portafilter

For me, the machine is perfect for me who enjoy good Cup of coffee every morning. Been making a minimum of 2 cups a day for the past 2 months. However, I'm still unable to produce decent latte art (don't have the skill yet).

Woo, you mau PID a poemia, its a thermoblock unit, non regulated flow through a thermoblock, hard for the SSR to control power in time for temp change due to drift.

If you are talking about boiler based, sure. Thermoblock...eh?
