hello all...

does anyone happen to know how to convert 3d files (3ds max) into a flash file....i know its possible with Swift 3d...but that is too expensive and i cant find any working version on the net (u know what i mean)....the trial version doesnt allow rendering. found out the hard way sad.gif

is there any other plugins beside that...thank u very much

the only alternative method I can think of is..

export 3DS into a video.. then compress the video in Flash..

if you're hardworking.. take the 3D video.. bring into a video editing program to shrink the movie resolution.. export it out and later import into Flash and render a SWF..

What do you want the output to be? Vector? Or just bitmap?

If you want a vector output, well, I think Swift is the only way.

As for bitmap, you could do it like what etsuko mentioned. I'm not too sure whether Flash can import image sequences. To have a toon shading, you could try mental ray contour shaders, or just use flat shading equivalent shaders in Max (I can't remember what's the shader though)

Flash can import image sequence - confirm.. i used it for my lego advertisement.

1st - convert 3dmax file to 3ds
2nd - swift 3d can import 3ds
3rd - if you want swift3d also have a vector output.. RAVIX if i'm not mistaken same as maya... and the option when you convert to vector, you can export it also as macromedia SWF single file
Preview & export editor > output options choose vector > target file choose macromedia swf > target file choose flash 5 ( i wonder if swift3d never update the output file target )
4th - the file is single SWF file - here settle the problem oledi.. u want flash but

5th - if still want to enhance with flash.. just import the vector exported from swift 3d into flash.. then it will be a whole long row of frame by frame animation when you import to flash.
6th - can put effects or color enhance or sorta like that ( if you're using flash 8 )
7th - then publish.. hoho

i'm not a good explainer so if u din understand.. sorry my bad english
