I understand what you are saying but I guess there are many quarters who are nervous about this QE3 and they would argue QE3 is bad for USD and hence they would want to shift their money to AU and with gold trading at lows of 15xx, it wasn't a suprise to see AU flying. QUOTE(kueyteowlou @ Sep 21 2012, 02:06 PM) why keep show gold? you got buy gold meh? post more about candlestick mah.. so that I can tell you what I see from the candlestick... discussion can improve my TA skill... Most gold buy here have the 'investing' mindset, ie they buy for the long term. If you look at where Au is, yes it could breakout and trade much higher but as you know breakout is very much a buy high sell higher strategy. I wouldn't recommend it for 'investors' at this moment of time. Lilins? Told you the only lilin I play is the ones I use on cakes. QUOTE(Boon3 @ Sep 21 2012, 02:19 PM) LOL! For the gold chart, there's a button to change it to candles, first on the left. Try : http://goldprice.org/live-gold-price.html Which lilin book do you use? coming Tuesday I am going to blow my 22 lilins ad |

QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Sep 21 2012, 02:40 PM) Good to incorporate yr TA skills into a good stock than a bad stock. Some kinda insurance policy to insure the future. I used to stay in AFFIN last time, then BIMB.. after that WCT.... but now I guess I might be wrong in MAS... It is like Apple coming with Iphones could sell than Microsoft coming out many things could not sell. Then u could play this 1stock in and out , with yr TA expertise, than with too many stocks. Just my view only. I will leave my MAS into refrigerator until November as you told me... MAS could lost 50% .... oh yea.. u can call me big gambler.. but this bet I knew it before i putting my money inside... QUOTE(Boon3 @ Sep 21 2012, 02:42 PM) yea true |

We view the potential foreign partnership positively for DRB in leading Proton into next stage of growth. * At the same time, DRB is eyeing to create a mega Islamic bank. It's a lousy bet against the bank and I am handicapped by the one big factor, time. However, Most internal issued W IF big shareholders hold a lot. They would make it an " incentive" for u to buy ( or rather to sell if u hold earlier ) by gorenging up before expiry. They may just announce some special dividends so that people may find it attractive to buy and convert. They ( major shareholders ) are the bigger losers by doing the ways like bankers normally do for CWs. Just sharing my view only. Anyway, not a hard sell on Ws here. They may just announce some special dividends so that people may find it attractive to buy and convert. They ( major shareholders ) are the bigger losers by doing the ways like bankers normally do for CWs. Just sharing my view only. Anyway, not a hard sell on Ws here. Got ex-date la, conversion terms and price la, and then the bankers sells the CWs in multiples, like 2 for 1, 3 for 1, 4 for 1.. Why make the bet so complicating? I especially don't see the need for those 2:1, 3:1 multiples. They should make it straightforward and do away with those multiples. By having all these multiples, I feel the bankers are trying to catch some punters napping. Some CONfused punters could easily forget about the multiples and assume that the call warrants they are buying 'is in the money'. |

Last month the stock had a decent rebound despite the apparent 'downtrend.' It hit a low of 1.76 in early Aug and rebounded to 1.93. QUOTE(john123x @ Sep 22 2012, 04:52 PM) If you look at the advice dished out by learned forumers in this redundant thread. It has given us newbies a different perspective of stocks trading. I would say this is a good redundant thread though it does not unites us. It would be great if contributors can criss cross both threads thereby contributing for the good of everyone other than restricting to a single thread which at present quite a number of us feel suffocating. |

Don't we all love to spice up our lives by mixing everything up. It's in our genes. The big driving factor for SYF is definitely the news about that one boss mopping up shares in the market. The big question now of course is he just a big share mopper or does he have actual plans for this company? If he doesn't have actual plans, like injecting new business, then soon the question is the company worth the current prices? |

SKI project might have a good business at first I assume.. because people like "new toilet bowl" ( Translate in Cantonese please lol ) .. so the SKI project will have to see the result first.. hahahahaha but one thing i don't like Genting.. there is no such thing call dividend in their mind |

QUOTE(ham_revilo @ Sep 23 2012, 10:43 AM) most of the time genting counter is always high volume. its a gambling counter, some people lazy go up gamble, so they gamble from counter 1 bet cost RM800 ++ ahhh.. I prefer go up there play roulette... Holiday 1bet RM20 only mah... genting has lost around 23% since Jan 2012. from the chart, i see it could continue to slide. temp support 8.5x and 7.7x strong support. with coming budget this friday, imo investor will continue to add oil to reduce its friction and continue sliding. QUOTE(edwin32us @ Sep 23 2012, 12:14 PM) Haha i did not mention that we cant post FA. Just that majority of the post here at TA with Candlestick charts Guys let be open mind about this and not let unfortunate events happen here.Let's not be narrow minded. Basically traders trade ALL type of stocks. Be it Genting, Maybank, Panamy, Dutch Lady, F&N and even REITS and so on, when there is an opportunity, traders will trade it. For these kind of stocks, some understanding of fundamentals will help. Take a recent stock with strong uptrend momentum. Johore Tin. Yes, many will call it as an investment stock because the fundamentals is ok and there is strong earnings growth. However, for some traders, they understand that strong earnings growth is a cataylst. It's a factor that make others want to buy the stock. It creates the buying momentum. Understanding this factor, the trader can profit tremendously by trading on a slightly longer time frame on this stock and easily achieve close to 50% gain or even much more on this stock. Same with a stock like Amedia. Understanding why a stock like that would move up strongly helps a lot. Anyway, just my opinion. I hope to see FA and TA discuss openly on this thread. Simply because traders have an open mindset. Peace la. Don't spoil a good thing here. This post has been edited by Boon3: Sep 23 2012, 12:36 PM |

QUOTE(kueyteowlou @ Sep 23 2012, 02:13 PM) BUY LOW , SELL HIGH = OLD SCHOOL ! BUY HIGH , SELL HIGHER = NEW SCHOOL ! The trend cycle is getting shorter and shorter. Just refer to the semiconductors industries were about 8 years cycle during 1980s, 4 years in 1990s and 2000s. Now is 2010, it has shortened to 2 years. So it is better to play safe within 2 weeks to 2 months holding because we won't know what will happen next . Maybe next it could be Asia crisis like Europe is having now haha.there is no such rule saying that going down will not go down further... the trend could be affect them delist also what... just like US that bank.. QUOTE(kueyteowlou @ Sep 24 2012, 03:45 PM) because ang moh didn't do anything today.. as you see the volume very low... KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 24): Futures players made huge gains early today by forcing down the key FBM KLCI by about 28 points or 1.7% to a low of 1595.85, senior dealers told theedgemalaysia.comthey just let local fund shake gao gao.. they short future.. so today is hammer ... cannot resist the hammer candlestick !! » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « After 12 minutes of opening bell, the FBM KLCI plunged by about 28 points to 1595.85 points, with big-cap index linked stocks such as SIME DARBY BHD [] and CIMB Group Holding Bhd falling sharply. The index closed at 1623.70 last Friday. However, the key FM KLCI index has since recouped losses due to buying interest. At noon break, the FBM KLCI ended at 1610.35 points, losing 13.35 points or 0.82% compared to last Friday’s close. In early trade, the FBM KLCI futures fell to a low of 1,589 points before recovering some losses. At noon break, it ended at 1610 points, down by 7.5 points. In response to this market talk, Ang Kok Heng, chief investment officer of Philip Capital Ltd, said: “Somebody short the futures and the FBM KLCI index followed suit. Because the volume was not high, KLCI rebounded when buyers returned.” “This sharp plunge has got to do with foreign futures players, as local funds do not play the futures. Moreover, the futures market fell first before the physical market,” he told theedgemalaysia.com. Dealers said the futures players gained by snapping up index futures when the KLCI was at its low of 1,595 points and selling at higher levels when the KLCI rebounded. “By creating volatility and wide gap in the futures and physical markets, the futures players make profit,” one explained. He noted that for Sime Darby, only 1,300 shares were transacted when it was sold down to RM9.62, or a loss of 17 sen per share, in early trade at 9.11 am. About the same time, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd lost 20 sen to RM7.33 per share. “This shows that it cannot be normal investor behaviour,” he said. Both shares have since recouped losses but are still trading at a loss. Ang ruled out the sell-down early today as being linked to normal programme selling on physical market, which happen when foreign funds see valuation of stocks hit their target. The key reason was that the future market fell first before the physical market. “In normal programme selling by funds in the physical market, there is no link with the futures market,” he said. A bank-linked dealer said such activity is normally linked to big funds. He said: “Only big boys play the futures market and can control the market. Once in a while, you see them shorting the futures or doing hedging. The legitimate explanation for today’s sharp fall is linked to futures sell-down to make profit.” |

When the stock hit 1.01 the other day, naturally some will 'anticipate' and 'speculate' a triple bottom will be found around that price. They 'bet' ahead and speculate for a triple bottom play. Same with the YTL chart I posted on Saturday. Last month, YTL hit the low of 1.76 and then it rebounded nicely. Some quickly bought at 1.74 and assumed that a similar rebound would happen. Their bet is based on anticipation of an event would happen. Quite a number of traders who trades on charts trades like this. When they anticipate, they are hoping they will be early and because they are early, they would be the early birdie catching the worm. The risk is the non happening of the event. |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Sep 24 2012, 04:03 PM) Actually it's normal. Take the MAS chat the other day. We seen two succussful rebounds before at 1.01. The risk is the non happening of the event. so you will know what is my timing to harvest this stock.. oh this is just betting.. |

QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Sep 24 2012, 04:13 PM) With CPO prices still lousy NOW, plantation earnings is going to be 'poor' for a couple of quarters.'poor' for planters is such a relative word because at these lousy CPO prices, planters are still making 'good' money. Only problem is the 'good' money is FAR off from the 'mad money' they were earning earlier. A lot of companies had jumped into the palm oil bandwagon. Timber stocks like Ta Ann and Jaya Tiasa should be reclassified as planters because the money they earn from oil palm is more than timber. |

Them contra players were the culprits??
JCY share slides 6% on force-selling, market-maker activity Business & Markets 2012 Written by Ho Wah Foon of theedgemalaysia.com KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 24): JCY International Bhd, a favourite stock by day-traders and contra-players, continued to fall in afternoon trade on force-selling and market-maker activity after opening lower in early trade, according to dealers. "Four (trading) days ago, many people thought the stock was cheap when it was sold down to 94 sen, but it fell further. Today, the contra players are forced to sell the stock or the stockbroking firms will sell them," said a dealer. Under the T+3 settlement rule, players would have to pay yesterday to take up the stock. If they had not paid up to pick up the shares or had not sold their shares yesterday or this morning, their holdings would be force-sold by stockbroking firms this afternoon. At 3.44 pm, the leading HDD maker was trading at 81 sen, down 5.5 sen or 6.4%, after touching a low of 80.5 sen. The third most active stock saw 18.22 million shares exchanging hands. Last Thursday, the stock already came under pressure due to profit-taking after it was played up to above RM1.01 previously. Dealers said there are also signs that the market-making activities by institutions today are also causing the fall of JCY by selling down the share and making profit profit. When a mother share falls, it will trigger a fall in its call warrants. "They are making profit by incurring a small loss in JCY mother share, but gaining profit from the bigger percentage fall in the warrants. These institutions must have sold warrants at higher prices days before and picking up the much cheaper warrants now," one dealer working for an institution said. In fact, JCY saw the dumping of its shares by funds in August on the back of its weaker results, dim outlook for the HDD sector and a downgrade by CIMB. Despite enjoying a lower target price of RM120-RM145 by leading stockbroking houses, JCY has continued to decline since. |

Gold had a big slip yesterday night.
Gold down nearly 1%; dollar gains on growth fears SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) — Gold futures sold off on Monday, as a stronger dollar and profit-taking after recent highs took a toll on metals and other commodities futures. The broader metals complex tracked gold lower, with palladium among the top losers, off nearly 4%. Despite the daily losses, however, metals and particularly gold are far from having lost their allure. Gold enjoyed price forecast upgrades and renewed interest from money managers and retail investors through exchange-traded funds. Goldman Sachs made a bullish call for commodities, with industrial and precious metals among its top picks. Read Goldman Sachs's bullish call on commodities, including copper. Gold has gained for five consecutive weeks, buoyed by the U.S. Federal Reserve’s latest round of quantitative easing and policy action by central banks in Europe and Japan which has encouraged buyers to seek tangible assets amid fears of inflation. Gold is viewed as a safe store of value and tends to benefit from expectations of currency debasement. Monday’s fall chipped away at monthly and yearly gains, but those are still at a respectable 4.7% for the month and nearly 13% for the year. Gold for December delivery (XCEC:GCZ2) declined $13.40, or 0.8%, to end at $1,764.60 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. Many investors wanted to be long on gold over the weekend as a cautionary measure, but dumped gold and other metals on Monday to take recent profits, said Carlos Sanchez, director of risk management at CPM Group in New York... ![]() This post has been edited by Boon3: Sep 25 2012, 08:25 AM |

In a statement released from Melbourne, the rating agency’s credit analyst Andrew Palmer said: “We have lowered our base case forecasts of 2012 real GDP growth by about half a percentage point for China to 7.5%; Japan to 2.0%; Korea to 2.5%; Singapore to 2.1%; and Taiwan to 1.9%.” He has also revised his forecast down by one percentage point each for: Hong Kong, to 1.8%; and India, to 5.5%. He added the forecasts for other Asian economies remain unchanged except for the Philippines, which went to 4.9% from 4.3% due to the strength of its domestic economy. “Our lower forecast for China recognizes that its government had elected not to inject an economic stimulus of a size and speed necessary for an 8% growth rate,” Palmer noted. China’s slowdown is seen having a flow-on effect to the export-oriented Asian economies of Japan, Korea and Taiwan, and the trading port cities of Hong Kong and Singapore. Exclusive Iris hopes for govt push in pre-fabricated building systems in Budget 2013
Business & Markets 2012 Written by Syarina Hyzah Zakaria of theedgemalaysia.com Tuesday, 25 September 2012 14:16 BUKIT JALIL (Sept 25): TECHNOLOGY [] company IRIS CORPORATION BHD [] hopes that the issue of affordable housing will be addressed in the upcoming Budget 2013, as it will serve as a catalyst for its integrated building system (IBS) and agrotech division. "There's a lot of talk on affordable homes and hopefully this will be announced in the Budget. People often associate IBS to low cost housing but its actually a good material in creating affordable homes," Datuk Tan Say Jim, managing director of Iris, told theedgemalaysia.com after its annual general meeting (AGM) on Tuesday. Moreover, its agrotech business — which started in 2006 — has started making headways after "not going anywhere in the past three years". Currently, the company has a number of projects which utilises its Koto IBS pre-fabricated building panels, which are most notably used in its Rimbunan Kasih (RK) projects. Earlier this year, the company secured a RM22 million contract with the Pahang state government to build an RK in Kuala Lipis, which will be launched next month. The RK requires Iris to build affordable housing, a high-tech integrated farm and renewable energy solutions for some 100 families. It also features a community and learning centre, modern sanitation facilities, a resource centre and place of worship, effectively making a small township. "We have just completed price negotiations with the Melaka, Terengganu and Johor states and are now awaiting the letter of award. The RK's in these states will be completed by the year end except for Johor which will be launched early next year," he added. At 2pm, Iris's share price was at 17 sen. |

Palm Oil stocks.
With the CPO going lower recently, much focus is on where the big fat bottom is. Many people just loves to play bottoms. I randomly pick 5 palm oil stocks and look at the 5 year charts. IOI ![]() KLK ![]() SOP ![]() TDM ![]() Utdplt ![]() Where is the bottoms? One quite obvious thing that I am sure everyone can see is end 2008. If not mistaken, CPO prices were around 14xx-15xx then. Another obvious note is that since end 2008, these 5 stocks, randomly selected planation stocks, have gained tremendously in prices compared to current price. Compare how much CPO has risen since then. CPO closed at rm2669 yesterday. Is this the time to bottom fish plantation stocks? This is the 5 years for CPO, many thanks to Chef. ![]() This post has been edited by Boon3: Sep 26 2012, 10:21 AM |

This is why we can see EPF buying and selling on the same counter at the same time. Last time he bought about 14M at 14sen, and later it shoot up to 32sen. I remember u made 100% on that. |

QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Sep 26 2012, 10:09 AM) Ya, MBSB is in the cooking. I see 2 ways to play this. One is to do it the aggressive way. Which is to buy now. Early birdie gets the wormie. The other way is, wait. Previously 2.50 was difficult to break past. For one month, Jul-Aug 2012, MBSB just could not gather enough buying momentum to see it break past 2.50. The wait-er could wait for the buildup in momentum, watching the volume indicator and if MBSB can breaks past 2.50, then only buy. Got any other way? |

QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Sep 26 2012, 10:35 AM) BTW, China stocks up 6 months of commodities odeli. I won't be surprised one bit if CPO falls below 2k again. China is not in a hurry to buy more despite QE3. Who else can increase the consumptions of commodities. Despite the recent weakness in CPO prices, most of these plantation stocks prices have not seen any significant correction (except PPB) yet... |

QUOTE(kueyteowlou @ Sep 26 2012, 11:07 AM) yea also.. because I heard those uncle aunty say.. if 40years ago.. u buy 1 lot Genting.. now you are millionaire.. with 1 lot only.. There's one big difference now.'now compared to 40 years ago' will be very different than '40 years from now compared to now'. Confused? Last time, 40 years Genting is almost nothing. When you compare nothing to now, the growth will look super big. This is just the simple law of numbers. Take a biy aged 20. If you compare the age versus the year he was born, the boy's age would have grown 20x. When this boy grows to 40 years old. We make another 20 year comparison, we compare this 40 year old man to when he was 20 years old. The age only doubled from 20 to 40. Same 20 years difference but the growth in age only doubled. More confused? What I am saying is the next 40 years growth for a company like Genting won't be the same as Genting's past 40 years growth. Now I am talking super male chicken. |

Sorry my TA knowledge is very noob Some forumer mentioned before, the cost per tonne is range from 1,200 to 1,700 (Applicable for company). So they still earn money, but not so lucrative as before. |

QUOTE(yhtan @ Sep 26 2012, 04:46 PM) It's just an observation based on charts. You can correct me anytime if I am wrong. Based on my on-off observation (meaning I wasn't watching 100% lah), when the stock went from 70 sen to 1.00, I observed the upward movement to be very well 'controlled' or 'managed'. Amedia then went pass the 1.00 region. Come rain or shine, the stock was solid, it continued to remain in the 1.00-1.110 region. Now September rain is almost going to close shop. Which means close to one month, this stock with such a strong uptrend, is stuck in this region. And the longer 'stuck' in this region, the chart pattern will become clear. Can you see the chart pattern if Amedia remains in this region for a longer time and the implications? Not asking you to dump and sell but I think it's good to be more cautious. Hope I don't say wrong things. Later. |

One option is to set your quit price higher, in order to preserve your great profits. You could either assign a price level, for example if Amedia drops below 95 sen, you quit your position immediately and as Amedia moves higher, move this price level higher to say 98 sen or 1.00 etc etc... Another way is you could use a percentage + price level to determine your quit price. Have your quit price set at 95 sen and include a 'if Amedia drops more than 6% in one single trading session', you call it quits. And if the quit trigger is not triggered, just ride Amedia for as long as possible... |

QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Sep 26 2012, 07:46 PM) Nice idea. I am not aware of such feature. I read a few months back that Bursa incorporates the CL feature, meaning u could pre key in a lower future selling price if price does drop to your CL point. Does Anyone use IT There are many ways to incorporate a CL. Sometimes, if you are trading on a longer time frame, one can base the CL on fundamentals too. Having said all these, no matter how smart and careful we are, this is the shark infested pasar we are talking about. There will be many times we can be shaken and stirred and made to look like a dummy whose brains are in our bottoms. Best example I can share now is Johore Tin. I traded it based on the earnings growth factor. Then I got my brains shifted to my bottoms and made to look like a dummy because I got shaken out of the stock all because of the rights issue announcement. The rights issue seemed totally redundant to me and I can not understand the need. 10 out of 10 times, my decision will still be the same and I would still continue to quit given such circumstances. Sad thing is the stock continued to fly but only without me. If there wasn't such an announcement, I don't think I would have exited the stock yet. Oh well. No regrets. This is the share market and yes it's hard to exit the stock at the best possible price every time. Many times, the stock can still go higher without us. |

Hello, I cannot give you any advice but I cannot help commenting on the statement underlined. You said you entered HWGB at 34 sen but then you said unfortunately still holding. I understand that HWGB closed at 33 sen, up 0.5 sen and your purchase is higher than the closing price but why 'unfortunately'? On one hand, I can see where the 'unfortunately' comes from, you declare yourself to be unfortunate because the current stock price is cheaper than your purchase price. However, you have to realise that it's very common that after one's purchase of shares, the share price could trade lower. This is normal in the stock price and should not be considered as 'unfortunate'. It's not a must that a share must fly sky high after you purchase. Just saying only. It does carries some sort of importance if you are one who believes that one should trade in a clear mind and in order to be a good trader, luck or lack of luck should not be part of the equation. After being so long winded and so male chicken talking on the luck factor.. What was your trading goal when you purchase HWGB? How high do you expect HWGB to fly? What's your back up plan if HWGB fails to fly? This post has been edited by Boon3: Sep 27 2012, 08:37 AM |

SAPInd surprises with 7 sen dividend!
Profits, however, was a shocker. Down 43%. I have not seen why. How interesting! The other day we saw SAPInd stage a techie rebound, climbing back to 1.6+. Did someone caught wind? More interesting. After giving their 15 sen dividend, SAPind kept on falling and falling. Did 'they' know that this quarter earnings is going to be that bad? Some who bought the stock for the dividends, could have vomited all their 'dividends' back with the sharp fall in stock prices. |

Ireka is not big and probably would be gauge versus the smaller one like Fajarbaru, Gadang, TRC, BinaPuri etc. |

QUOTE(yhtan @ Sep 27 2012, 10:05 AM) Let's look at the good side, Scomi does has expertise in Railway and Oil and Gas. IJM did that to enhance its civil engineering, maybe in the future has more chances in securing related project. Scomi's railway expertise is in its subsidiary Scomi Engineering. When u do not have expertise in certain field, 1)Joint venture with others (Profit will be share equally) 2)Hire third party to perform work (Expensive and very hard to master the skill) 3)Internally provide training and course (Costly and result is uncertainty) 4)Buy in a company No.4 is the best option to tap into the field they intended to venture, fast enough, no need to wait years. Construction sector itself does not provide a sustainable income, that's why they venture Plantation, Property development etc. The chairman intended to grow IJM become Sime Darby v2, a wild wild dream I understand but why insist on Railway and Oil and Gas? |

mas is now a steal
buy? KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has signed a general terms agreement (GTA) with Airod Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of National Aerospace and Defence Industries Sdn Bhd (Nadi), to collaborate in providing aircraft engineering and maintenance support. In a joint statement yesterday, the two companies said the two-year partnership will enable MAS’ engineering unit and Airod to take advantage of each other’s strengths to provide cost-effective and competitive maintenance expertise for all aircraft ranging from propeller to jet-engine types. Nadi’s executive chairman Tan Sri Ahmad Johan said the GTA will help the companies co-optimise resources and share existing facilities to undertake additional third-party aircraft maintenance work. “This is a bold step for Malaysia to become the world’s largest independent third-party MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) service provider,” he said in the statement. MAS and Airod will also explore and evaluate future business opportunities, in relation to the expertise sharing, and develop it into a profitable and viable business model. MAS executive vice-president for engineering and maintenance Mohd Roslan Ismail said the coming together of the two leading local maintenance, repair and overhoul (MRO) organisations will not only strengthen the capacity and capability of the local MRO industry but also position Malaysia as a leading global MRO service provider. “We are glad to share our expertise with Airod and, at the same time, tap its skills in order to improve our competitiveness in the market,” he said. The two companies have a total manpower of 6,400, and their collaboration will allow them to handle 64 wide-body and 364 narrow-body aircraft heavy maintenance visits per year from global aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing, Airbus and ATR. |

IJM tells analysts Scomi buy “not political, not bailout”
Business & Markets 2012 Written by Ho Wah Foon of theedgemalaysia.com Thursday, 27 September 2012 10:38 A + / A - / Reset KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 27): The management of IJM CORPORATION BHD [] yesterday held a briefing for more than 80 analysts and fund managers and told them that its move to buy up to 25.08% stake in oil and gas play SCOMI GROUP BHD [] was not political and purely business. According to a report by CIMB researcher Sharizan Rosely, IJM managing director Datuk Teh Kean Ming said the deal marks IJM's exposure to the lucrative local oil & gas sector and rail jobs overseas. In the exercise, IJM will subscribe to a 10% stake in Scomi for RM39.3million and another 15% via subscription of convertible bonds for RM110 million. IJM's investment in Scomi would amount to RM149.3 million, to be satisfied by its cash of RM1.9 billion. Post-deal, IJM is expected to emerge as the single largest shareholder with a 25% stake in Scomi, with board representation in Scomi Group, Scomi Group's 42.8% associate Scomi Marine and Scomi Group's 67.4% subsidiary Scomi Engineering. According to CIMB, the IJM management yesterday argued that its decision to acquire a stake in Scomi was "purely a business deal with no political strings attached". It also said the investment is “timely” as it provides IJM a cheap entry into the oil & gas segment. But it acknowledged that Scomi is in need of funds to satisfy its bond repayment of RM200 million by the end of this month. This is now deferred pending this deal. Defending its decision which did not go down well with investors, the IJM management highlighted that Scomi has been shortlisted to tender for Petronas's risk service contracts and was reportedly in the running for two marginal field jobs worth between US$600 million and US$1 billion each. Also, Scomi is one of the three major rail car manufacturers in the world. Scomi's total outstanding order book now stands at RM2.9 billion and is good for another 2-3 years. IJM's management explained Scomi’s reported losses in FY10-11 was largely due to impairment and forex losses and its 1H12 RM19.5 million net profit looks sustainable as the business is turning around. But IJM also acknowledged that Scomi's management should address investors' poor perception of Scomi's execution and future prospects. Despite the lengthy briefing, CIMB is not fully convinced by IJM. “We are neutral to slightly negative on this exercise and takeaways from the briefing…Yesterday's briefing shed some reassurance but we are more lukewarm on this for now,” CIMB’s analyst said. Early today, CIMB cut the target price of IJM to RM5.30 from RM6.40, but called for a “trading” buy on the stock as it had been oversold after falling 11% in the last two days. “This move by IJM was a big surprise and may take time to attract buy-ins from investors. But reassurance comes from IJM's track record in past M&As,” the CIMB report said. Another analyst who attended the briefing told the theedgegemalaysia.com that he is still pondering what recommendations to write as he is not fully convinced. |

PETALING JAYA: Young aspiring shuttlers who aim to be the next Lee Chong Wei will now have an additional outlet to hone their skills with the launch of the AirAsia Badminton Academy (AABA).
There will be three AABA outlets, one each in Petaling Jaya, Kepong and Klang. A total of 120 shuttlers aged between 12-18 have already signed up to join the AABA. But the biggest boost for budding shuttlers will be the inception of an Under-18 tournament – the Air Asia Cup – later this year. “I came up with the idea for the academy because we currently lack a successor to Chong Wei, who will eventually retire,” said AABA president Jason Lim Tiat Long at the launch of the academy at the SP Forum 19 Badminton Centre here. “What is important is that we give some of these shuttlers a chance to compete in more tournaments, which is why we came out with a plan to introduce the Air Asia Cup. “We’ve actually started the academy unofficially since July and some of the players have had to opportunity to compete in tournaments. “They were team champions at the Hong Kong International Tournament and third at the World Chinese Badminton Championship in Beijing. “Some of the players under our wings are already state players and one of our aim is to supplement the BA of Malaysia (BAM),” added Jason, a former national back-up shuttler. AirAsia group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, who was present at the launch, said the main objective of the academy “is to aid promising shuttlers who are struggling with funds”. “We like to support future stars who find fundings hard to come by and when Jason approached me with this academy idea, I couldn’t say no,” said Tony. BAM secretary Ng Chin Chai lauded the efforts of the private sector to aid in grassroots development. “Academies like this and KLRC are very good for the grassroots levels because it’ll generally help to improve the standard of badminton at schools and district levels,” said Chin Chai. “It also helps take away a little of the burden BAM face in trying to produce young talents and it’ll also help to improve the quality of the national team in the future. “We (BAM) are happy with such efforts and will try our best to support more academies. ![]() this fella banyak panai branding AirAsia |

For the time being, I just paper trade Futures. Thanks what you need is a plan.. as long as the risk you can take it.. why not? FKLI is TA battleground.. |

But I think it was an intention push down then before the budget. |

It's good that you are willing to share your experience. What I, myself learned, I learned it mostly from the net and some books of course. Never joined any classes at all. Try to broaden your horizon. Stocks itself is not bad, some say much better than Cws. Haha! The main key is you have to be patient. Give one example. ( Better give if not someone send their male chickens to me! LOL! ) Oh ah... TH Heavy. Last month, not sure if you realise it, I talked with Magika about it. TH Heavy is a PN4 stock but this PN4 stock is all dressed up already. Reformed - just waiting to let from from jail. Those who followed the news/announcements would have known it. It's all just waiting for the chop and then it can be release from jail. The theory - actually the punting theory. Historical records would show that stocks tend to jump after it let go from jail. Profits tend to be good. But for TH Heavy, this stock, moved while still in jail. LOL! Chasing it, perhaps is not a preferred choice for many. What one could have done is just put the stock in the watchlist. Recently market corrected. TH Heavy corrected too. Now if the stock was in the watchlist, what was the observation? The stock found a decent support at 0.505. Was 50.5 sen a decent entry for the stock? Where was the recent high before TH Heavy? Answer: 0.615. Is this a decent try at 0.505? You used risk/rewards ratio a lot. Would this sound like a decent trade? Stock today jumped a little bit. It's now 51/51.5 sen. Oh, you asked me about INIX. Why ah? The first Goog link, wasn't nice read about INIX. But the third or was it the fourth link was interesting. I made small comment saying it was interesting but got no feedback from you. LOL! Question now is INIX is now 14.5 sen. Is there trading possibility for INIX? |
