Worker killed in LRT project site mishap

KUALA LUMPUR: A construction worker was killed when he was sandwiched between a pole and a segmental box girder launcher on a Light Rail Transit (LRT) track under construction at the Taman Muhibbah People's Housing Project (PPR) in Puchong near here Thursday.

Mohammad Hanafi Abdullah, 23, from Kedah, was pronounced dead at the Kampung Muhibbah 1Malaysia Clinic at 1.28pm.

Bina Puri-Tim Sekata JV construction manager Kenny Tiew said Mohammad Hanafi, who was an employee of a subcontractor, and several other workers were working on the track when the incident occurred at about 11.20am.

"A worker immediately contacted the Fire and Rescue Department who brought down the victim from the track.

"A medical officer managed to resuscitate the victim, after which he vomited and fainted again," he said when contacted.

Tiew said Mohammad Hanafi was taken to the Kampung Muhibbah 1Malaysia Clinic before he died, apparently from internal bleeding.

He said following the incident, construction work on the track has been suspended pending investigation by the Department of Occupational Safety and Health. - Bernama

A lot of other Malays do this kind of dangerous work even with good qualifications. It saddens me when ppl joke about malays as a bunch of lazy ass wipes and always opt for easy jobs. I met some of these brave malays tonight during the yaasin recitation for my late cousin.
