i think it is an easy enough game to be played for any non gamers. Just click on monsters till they become a patch of red paint or flat on the floor.

At least for my engineer with hammer, things tend to turn to a red patch.

I am curious but am i the only one Berserker who mostly plays passives? ._. lv13 and the only active skill i have is the first skill you get w/ Tier 1 bonus only lol.
*
My engineer also have mostly passives, mainly because i want to increase my armor and my 2 handed attack speed.

this game lacks the dynamic interraction between NPCs that D3 has.

I kinda miss my "JONDARRRR" and Scoundrel antics. TL2 is so...lonely.
*
I rather have it like Torchlight's silent gameplay than hearing D3 NPC talking. Some of the characters are so annoying.

Act 3 worse for me.. most drop are common, gems also less.. sad.

I was wondering the same thing, whats wrong with the game as it is giving me so many common items? I think we need to make a complain in Runic forums because of lackluster drops in Act 3. Act 1 and 2 are fine, with a nice mix of different rarity. Act 3 should be dropping at least equal amount of items.

I think the enemies in Act 3 are much more fun to fight though, but no doubt that Act 2 has the best enemies.

Is story in an ARPG that important? I rather have a silent game than having idiotic characters spitting nonsense everything i play Diablo 3. Or those poorly made, cringe worthy cutscenes in Diablo 3. Waste of time and money to produce these garbage content.

It was quite fun for the first few times, but after that,it gets obnoxious. Diablo 1 didnt really shove the storyline at you, while Diablo 2 didnt do it as much as Diablo 3. Even Titan Quest didnt really do it too, but i had my fun playing those games.

Even other games like Skyrim, Sins of Solar Empire and Demon Souls, these games have very much paper thin storyline to begin with, without those terrible cutscenes forced upon the gamers. At the same time, there are lore sneaked inside the game if you really want to go deeper into the lore.

Torchlight 2 has some decent amount of story, but i think the lore parts are kinda lacking. Still, i rather have more randomised challenges/phase portals/quests. The maps do randomise a lot, to be honest.

If i want a story based RPG, i would rather play Planetscape Torment, Witcher series or Mass Effect. These games really do story in RPGs right.

For me yes. Story is important. If not, the game will lack certain aura for first time playing. You will want to know what happen next and in order to know it, you have to play it. D2 and TQ have a much better storyline than TL2. At least it gives you a feeling of as though you are fighting for something. So, I now have to retune myself to play TL2. I have to treat this game just like collecting loots and derive the fun and satisfaction from completing as many set as possible. Thats about it.
*
There are certainly some story elements in the game, not that the game has nothing at all.

The original Torchlight is even less on story, as it is pretty much about going down to the bottom of torchlight to see whats what happened. I dont know what kind of story are you after, as Torchlight 2 does have a little bit of story to explain what is going on.

I am fully aware of this BUT BUT BUT....... The storyline cannot be so thin like this. I mean come on....how long its going to take to produce a slightly better storyline to keep our hands stick at the mouse. Gameplay wise, loot wise, skillset wise, no complain. Well, its just my personal opinion and I think I have to right to voice it out. I am going to do the same at Runic forum.

I totally disagree that we cant mix good story with ARPG.
*
Still, what benefits do we get if RPG games with paper thing storyline, such as Skyrim or Torchlight 2 has better story? That wont make me play the game more, even if it has an Oscar winning writing backing it. And i believe this applies to a lot of people other there.

At the same time, most of the games that i replay frequently all have paper thin storyline. For instance, Sins of Solar Empire, Supreme Commander or Need for Speed World have either none to little storyline.

In addition, if Runic decides to add a storyline, that would cost them more money to hire better writers and maybe even more voice actors where in the end, you might get only half the content this game has. Not to forget there are tonnes of people out there who play games like Mass Effect to skip all the amazing story and voice acting EA put in. So, whats the point of having a good storyline, instead of solid gameplay and more content.

There is a reason why some indie games do not want to have a storyline, because it will cost them a lot more money to do it right. They rather put the money into polishing up the game or add more content. I think that is better in the long run.

In short, i rather have solid gameplay than a storyline that is more than just a background story. If you overdone it, it will be like Diablo 3's cringe worthy storyline.

Even Normal NG+ is much harder than Normal.

I am potting a lot more often and some champions can take about 70% of my HP in one go. Thats scary, cause im an engineer with lots of Vit.

myb in the maps dungeon? have u tried?..shit mang reward for defeat netherlord is set equipment..just can pick one only..how to farm set like that aa?
*
I am doing some map dungeons now, but i am trying not to overdone them so that i dont out level the NG+ content.

I think map dungeons are actually damn fun, IMO, as i find it much more difficult than NG+ content and it yield better loot.

Does attributes affect summons like the gun bot or heal bot?
*
OT a bit, can someone tell me how useful is the Gunbot?

I tried it and it feels quite useless to me. The cooldown is just too long.

gunbot is awesome at lvl 15.
*
If its like that, i rather invest in Sledgebot. It is much much stronger, in tanking for bosses or killing mobs.

Gunbot seems really worthless. Summon time is too short, while cooldown is too long.

Not sure why Runic implement summon times for summoned creature, it feels kinda dumb and tedious.

After 40 hours of Torchlight 2, i can say that Runic does get the Diablo 2 formula right. Torchlight 2 is much much more fun to play than the other game.

Smoother movements even in online play. Crazy imbalanced builds, like my Very Fast Attack speed Engineer. Consistent and increasingly better loot drop. Manual attribute points input. Randomised maps and Map Works. Permanent skill system. Story characters that dont get in the way of the game.

Man, this is definitely the best 15USD i have spent on a game.

Hmm . Is heal bot so useful ? Coz some of my unique eq hv those increase % on pot efficiency . Those % could replace de Hp healing plus I can invest 15 sp on other skill ?
*
Yea, i find it very useful, especially after fights when you have 3/4 of your HP left, then, the heal bot will heal you to full health while walking to the next mob, boss or champions. Thats why now i got so many pots to the point i have to combine them to save inventory.

Just that i dont really know what to do with Gun Bot.

Sledgebot is really good too, especially after Tier 1 upgrade, as it tanks well since it is invulnerable and the sweeping attack helps a lot during boss and champion fights. The Sledge bot might tank for me or crowd control the mobs. Just that sometimes the pathing is a bit off.
