Let me try to dumb down k3's shifu teachings with my 1KB of RAM in my blain .

1.Intake stroke - Stroke jor, the push in
2.Compression stroke - Squeeze it, compress it, while stroking
3. Explosion stroke - After stroking, and squeezing, it explodes
4. Exhaust stroke - After all the above, exhausted liao

There you go, the Stroke, Squeeze, explode, exhaust process of a 4 stroke engine
