That is one of the most practical uses of NFC tags but I am not sure if there is a common standard or are there a few NFC standards? E.g. The tag sold by divlin is not compatible with Balckberry's NFC app. Not sure what the issue was tho'
It's the chip on the tag. Mifare Classic 1k is not NFC Forum Type1-4 compliant and uses NXP proprietary security protocol. Blackberry and Windows Phones cannot read Mifare 1k. No problem with Android phones so far though. So if you want to get NFC tags to work with all devices, current and future, choose other chips such as Ultralight or NTAG203. They are NFC Forum Type 2 compliant.
