i dont think there's a specific size for a chiller but since the chiller so expensive might as well u invest
in a big tank maybe 3 to 4 feet?
NOTICE: IM LOOKING FOR CLARKII CLOWNFISH, if anyone saw at megamall or anywhere around KL town center do tell.

o damn i must contact them.

my 2 ft with cabinet n lid cost 280 without pump n light.

if 3 feet with cabinet i think around 500-700, then with that size u can get a sump to put in ur cabinet.
the cheapest 3 feet i saw is RM80 with cheap metal stand Rm60.

QUOTE(ruknu @ Dec 9 2009, 11:38 PM)
just put the bacteria..what water conditioner u use??just get rid of chlorine in water..
water change about 1 @ 2 a week before cycle..after that, u should change water 1 week @ 2 week..
shout test the ammonia and nitrates..
ammonia should be at 0 and nitrate should as low as possible..
when ammonia in 0, ur tank has cycled..
and u can add live stock...

u should buy bigger skimmer..not ur tank not enough protein, the skimmer use to get rid of toxic in ur water..
so u must have good and efficient skimmer to ensure ur tank health..
for water changing, discholorine the water in ur mixing container and
add salt to right spec gravity and add in to ur tank..
*
bro... my water conditioner is "AQUA PLUS"... which mean i need to change my protein skimmer rite?

QUOTE(alexlow @ Dec 10 2009, 12:05 AM)
for new tank, change 30%-40% each week.
as your tank mature than can consider changing less often but need to dose trace element.
always fill up water first before add in salt, never salt than water
your tank still new and clean, nothing much to skim, protein is waste.

thanks a lot...

add water first then mix the salt in a bucket or whatever, leave it for 1 day.

bubble not see water, see your equipment.

early stages i dont think u will see much waste in your collection cup.
*
bro's... please refer to below pic... this is what i refer too... is normal for a new tank?

roger that..just test it first..if the reading is 0, ur tank already cycle..
then, change about 12 to 20 % water..
and ur tank is ready to add live stock..
if u don't sure or afraid if ur live stock died..wait about 1 @ 2 day..
test ur ammonia level..if reading is 0, ur tank is safe for adding live stock..
make sure find the hardy livestock..
*
but my tank already have life rock... will it die? i added on 3rd day... alamak...

hey weelong i dont see anything wrong with your protein skimmer. just leave it, its working i guess. dont worry bout the bubbles n stuff, as long as your skimmer got come out bubbles then its ok.

since your tank is new, i dont think u will see much stuff or dirt collecting.

sump - increase total water volume, can put all your equipment there.
BUT have to drill hole, fix water pumps n stuff.

dont worry, your live rock wont 'die'. at first i started my tank about 2 months ago, alex said my live rock looks dead but now
it has some living organisms like feather dusters.
bacteria just follow instructions on the bottle.
if u have ro water u can use it to mix with your salt without using any dechlorinator or other stuff.
some ppl avoid using tap water cause it may contain silicates, encourages algae growth but i dont know our 1Malaysia tap water suitable or not.
hey alex, my 2ft tank what's the lighting specs you recommend for a reef tank?
if the lights too expensive i dont think i'm going reef with my 20G. Mabe just fix the normal 20w lights.
*
many thanks for your kind advise... still manything need fromall of u... hahaha...

Added on December 10, 2009, 2:19 pmi jus check mine...

4watt per gallon. 20gallon x 4 = 80 watt
will cost you rm200-rm250

27c is good but don't let it swing up and down.
if ammonia detectable than you need change water more regulary.
get a botol of biofuel to speed up the bacteria growth.
*
thanks... then will change the water... which brand u use for the biofuel?
By the way, any standard parameters that can follow?
