QUOTE(ruknu @ Dec 9 2009, 11:12 PM) yeah..that correct, make sure to fully cycle ur tank before add some live stock.. Hi... I heard that we can put live rock eventough ur tank's water is still new.take it slow to prevent money loss of buying live stock.. just put the bacteria..what water conditioner u use??just get rid of chlorine in water.. water change about 1 @ 2 a week.. shout test the ammonia and nitrates.. ammonia should be at 0 and nitrate should as low as possible.. when ammonia in 0, ur tank has cycled.. and u can add live stock... But we should add only Coral Reef & fish after 2 weeks of water circulation. And also, we shouldn't change water within 1 month. Is that true? yes that's true.
I would not add fish for at least 1 month, coral for 2months. Water change up to you. This post has been edited by Evrae90: Dec 16 2009, 02:45 AM |

actually i like to put hardy fish when cycling tank, it will speed up the process, currently cycling a tank, fish only tank, 1st day already dump in damsel.
also i dun use any kick start dosing, just take some live rock and old water from existing tank and put in when i do water change. eventually the bacteria will multiple. |

fish only means there's live rock.
in short FOWLR = fish only with live rock. In all marine tanks its a must to have live rock. The difference is what u keep in it. fish only, or fish+coral, or fish+marine inverts etc This post has been edited by Evrae90: Dec 16 2009, 03:52 PM |

QUOTE(Evrae90 @ Dec 16 2009, 03:50 PM) fish only means there's live rock. I see, thanks for enlighten me... in short FOWLR = fish only with live rock. In all marine tanks its a must to have live rock. The difference is what u keep in it. fish only, or fish+coral, or fish+inverts etc i thought FISH ONLY and FOWLR is two different things How long can marine fish live without filter/air pump/skimmer??? Any of you install somekind of back-up battery or power generator to support your marine tank equipment in case of blackout??? This post has been edited by silverbolt143: Dec 16 2009, 04:02 PM |

some ppl place their rock n sand in their refugium, leaving their display tank empty, its referred to as bare something forgotten.
maybe a day or 2, depends on what u keep n how many fish u keep. More fish will cause toxicity to rise at a faster rate. for my tank in case blackout, i do water change if more than 1 day. n also use a tupperware scoop out water n pour back in from a high place like 'teh tarik', to replenish oxygen in water. if u got corals n lots of expensive stuff in your tank, maybe u shud get a backup generator. Hi,
I am looking for a 2nd hand 6 feet tank and chiller, but must be reasonable price. I already set up my 4 ft tank last month... But i found out that the live stocks that available in market is very expensive. Anyone can suggest to me where I can get better deals on all the saltwater stuffs and live stock? Cheers, Steven Eng |
