hey weelong i dont see anything wrong with your protein skimmer. just leave it, its working i guess. dont worry bout the bubbles n stuff, as long as your skimmer got come out bubbles then its ok.

since your tank is new, i dont think u will see much stuff or dirt collecting.

sump - increase total water volume, can put all your equipment there.
BUT have to drill hole, fix water pumps n stuff.

dont worry, your live rock wont 'die'. at first i started my tank about 2 months ago, alex said my live rock looks dead but now
it has some living organisms like feather dusters.

bacteria just follow instructions on the bottle.
if u have ro water u can use it to mix with your salt without using any dechlorinator or other stuff.
some ppl avoid using tap water cause it may contain silicates, encourages algae growth but i dont know our 1Malaysia tap water suitable or not.

hey alex, my 2ft tank what's the lighting specs you recommend for a reef tank?
if the lights too expensive i dont think i'm going reef with my 20G. Mabe just fix the normal 20w lights.

27c is good but don't let it swing up and down.
if ammonia detectable than you need change water more regulary.
get a botol of biofuel to speed up the bacteria growth.

depends on what kind of corals you keep, deep or shallow tank.
4watt/gallon just a guideline
