alex, what do u prefer..,2 african clown or 1 african and 1 tomato clown in 2ft tank??
and, which less aggressive..
in my tank, already have 1 yellow tail damsel,2 anemone,1 coral banded shrimp,..
and i would like to add 1 blue hippo tang(the smallest one), 2 clown fish(above @ other clown) and
fire or cleaner shrimp..
what do u think??my last claki clown died yesterday..very2 sad.... cry.gif ...

if i were u, i go to 3ft tank with sump pump(package and come with cabinet) it about rm 700..all u need to buy is skimmer, light,
wave maker and filter media (wool, carbon, phosphate remover, and etc..)
u also need to add some live rock..it all up to u,,only my suggestion..
*
hi ruknu, sorry for the late reply, was oversea for few wks
try not to host too many fish, 1 clown/anemone will better.
blue tang need rock to hide , get small one to start will be good, more chance of surviving

Hi, i plan to start a small marine aquarium in my study room. Any suggestion where can i view all the necessary equipment and setup in Klang Valley. Prefer a pet shop with wide marine variety and reasonable price. I just need a very small aquarium with cabinet to rear clown fish, some corals etc...really noob in this area but excited each time i saw colourful marine aquarium in midvalley.

just make sure is not carnivorous, it wil chew off your bottom dweller fish like goby and so on.

try to get the biggest tank possible, if your house have the space than go for 3ft else minimum 2ft
go and visit several shop first, see how ppl setup their overflow and sump, don't buy anything yet, learn & learn.
all your secondary school days knowledge will come into handy, biology, chemistry & physics.

this hobby can be cheap & very expensive, did help several frs setup their tank b4, most of them have bigger tank than mine even newbies.
lately just help make a skimmer for a 4ft reef, a nw skimmer for this vol of tank normally just throw you away with rm500-600
make ourself will cost around half but you need to have the time to do it.

welcome back, cool looking thing u have there. i think if u go with 3 feet, the protein skimmer only costs about 200-250.

my new 20 gallon fish only set up with 5kg live rock, in future i will add a few more little pieces to the right side of the tank, looks a bit empty.

this not the final version, need to have good cone head design only bubble will burst more effectively. depends on what kind of result and budget u have, creativity doesn't have it's limit.

and u r correct, thats a powerhead to generate the bubble.

i discovered that just recently lol. i got a powerhead for my 20gallon n i noticed it produced bubbles when the water inlet is in open air/clogged.

btw ruknu i tink u can get a protein skimmer for 3ft less than 300 cause i asked my lfs before when i was considering 3 ft.
but i dont know about its effectiveness or appropriateness.

not necessary big budget, it will depends on what you want to keep and many other factors, certain corals prefer murky water with higher nutrients.
skimmer play important roles not just removing doc , toxic. also provide enough oksigen for your fish and corals, enug to control PH swing etc.
so sure good skimmer is important, tips also i can't say much coz still experimental stages and learning.

depends on what type of coral u want to keep bro or if u can maintain stable and suitable water temperature in your aquarium is good enuf unless ur house is hot.

this website http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_di...724&pcatid=2724
recommend to keep corals til 78F which is approximately 26 C.

lol or u make urself a chiller..look at this http://benkrasnow.blogspot.com/2009/03/diy...um-chiller.html

i prefer 27c, just incase anything goes wrong, temp goes up, using fan we still archieve 28c
some coral temp above 28c will be stress to them.
chiller not worth diy , we try before. i using resun but plan to upgrade soon.

chiller is a worthwhile investment, you noneed to worry so much about water vaporizing, constant water temp , your fish & coral will luv it.
can look for 2nd hand, most ppl using small chiller but once they want to upgrade to bigger than they change to split con unit.
