Hey guys, is the Nexus 7 good at handling documents? As in, smoothness and all. Specifically PDFs, PPTs and .doc. How do they compare to the iPad (which is undeniably the benchmark)? As in, is it smooth while panning around? Pinch zooming? Flipping pages?

On my Galaxy Nexus, they all appear to take some time to render. ezPDF Reader has a crazy long rendering time, while Adobe Reader is still ok. So I was wondering if it's a hardware thing (Galaxy Nexus vs N7 vs iPad) or an app thing (diff PDF reader).  If there's an app that can handle documents smoothly I'd gladly consider, coz I've invested too much into the Android ecosystem, and would hate to start all over again on iOS.
*
ipad is pretty much useless in handling pdf.
my gf got lots of lecture notes wana send into ipad to read.
download pdf app#1, send one by one using wifi. bloody troublesome.
need long press hold, slowly organize into folder until she got bored.
suddenly heard pdf app#2 is better, install and try, omg...all the pdf sent using pdf app#1 not detected by pdf app#2
all the pdf app use in app wifi transfer to receive from pc. and their not detectable by other apps. and need send 1 by 1.
how is this useful i have no idea. and those are paid pdf app sumore. sweat max. sweat.gif

at that time i was using tab10.1, just drag and drop all her pdf notes (already organized into folders) into it.
bam, works like magic. but that tab10.1 laggy la, slow to open and scroll.

nexus7 very fast and smooth, but the screen small.

i tried alot android office app.
the fastest one is office office pro hd.

all app when you scroll/pan, text will blur, but went you stop scrolling,
quick office pro is the fastest one to clear up the text. the time is almost instant.

the first page got mention which floor.

i dont think the price is lower than 999, unless you buy online from garage sales

white color is developer version that was given free during google io.

RM999(cheapest RM900 I found) can have such a nice specs,u don call that cheap?
*
i agree its cheap at that price range.

google selling in US for 245usd, thats RM750+
that low price is achieved because google subsidize. they earning back from play store, that consist of books, magazines, movies, songs, and apps. US people very willing to spend on those.
(some silly people cannot understand this logic and claim its expensive here, expecting 750 price)

in malaysia only got app store. so google dont make money.
asus is the one that earn money. they selling at 999. which is higher than other country.
(main reason that piss people off)

but even 999, its still a good deal compared to tab2 7inch.
plus this is a nexus device. before end of this year new android OS out,
nexus7 first to get it. other device at that time probably just get JB, and probably a not very good one since it will be skinned.

i just notice dont have to do titanium backup when want to switch roms.

new titanium backup can restore apps+data from cmw backup.
make a cwm of your old rom. when switch to new rom, just restore your apps+data using TB new feature to extract from cmw backup.

no longer need extra space for TB backup, save about 1GB

did u check your gmail sent mail whether it has been sent or remain in your outbox? also, depends on the recipient's email - is it gmail too or other provider? if other provider, maybe the provider problem...
*
the receipient is gmail too. but i dont think is gmail server problem,

it should be the android device,
its stuck in gmail app outbox with status "sending"
very very long still sending. i leave it overnight with wifi on, very very long like several hours only sent.

the issue is the app doesnt send the mail out from the phone. sync is on. i manual sync it also it stuck at "sending"
wifi connection is good. even plain mail also fail.
so angry.

it dont happen all the time. it suka suka just fail one sometimes. sickening i have to always go outbox see it delivered or not. if it dont, i have no way of sending anymore with the app.
have to use broswer go to gmail mobile site to send.

Has anyone encountered any issue with Nexus 7 displaying chinese characters?

I tried to load some chinese songs into my Nexus 7 which was recently brought back from US and all the details appeared as weird symbols. So, does anyone knows what kinda format (I'm using Chinese PRC) i should use or how can i solve the problem? Thank you.
*
use ttpod.

the default player and many other player also cant read chinese.
been using ttpod since i got my android device.
it can download lyrics and got online radio station too.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...oid.ttpod&hl=en

i tried poweramp that seems to be the people's choice,
but i find ttpod more user friendly and more features.

hi guys, im an apple user for long time and never tried android before, so now wanna try android tablet but im having hard time deciding whether should i go for nexus 7 or galaxy tab 2. i like all the specs of nexus 7 but the only problem is that i heard the screen crack easily, can anyone clarify this? isit true?
*
ok so you heard the screen crack easily. from who? who says its easy crack and why you believe ALL nexus 7 easy crack?
people here tell you other wise, say not easy to crack. why you find it hard to believe?

but seriously, you buy a tablet, made of glass. sure will crack if you drop it la.
common sense. every touch screen product same la.

another thing, depends on how you drop, sometimes lucky drop at a 'safe' angle, it will survive.
if unlucky drop face down, confirm spoil lo.

you should ask yourself how careful you are,
instead of how durable the screen is. truth is all tablet made of glass, gorilla glass or not, its still breakable.
and have risk of damage during a fall.

Guys if want to install Nexus Toolkit N7 2.0.0 do u need to uninstall wugfresh root toolkit v1.5.2?
*
no need. i totally abandon wugfresh one since got some report of its failure.
i use the other guy one. where need input number to choose option, very fast and easy too.

but seriously first time see the UI so old school will lose some confidence in it.
but its actually a very functional one.

easiest way is if you have done a backup in recovery before you flashed the custom rom..
jus go back recovery, wipe data then restore from backup
*
i forgot to do backup, so i use toolkit return to stock.
but remember save your titanium backup files to your pc,
return to stock will wipe internal memory.

Hey, thanks a lot, it works like magic and the UI is simple and elegant enough. Anyways, is there any other players that I can try out?

Really wish the stock player can display Chinese though. Too bad.
*
i tried alot of players. ttpod is the best one that suit my needs.
the one that come a close second is kugou player.

basically same features as ttpod, but it looks way uglier.

ok, i guess i will go for nexus 7 then, i did some survey d. the screen crack thingy only appear on the first batch according to a user tht exchange few of his nexus 7 after screen crack.
will grab case and screen protector first, is 8gb enough for normal use? no movie and no music, only some games and mostly ereading.
*
Go with 16gb. You get 13+GB storage.

If buy 8gb one you only get 5+ GB of storage
