1st, thanks _Buyer for your questions. Seems a lot similarity to my curiosity as well.

Anyway, as i read a few posts by shinjite and lowyat82 regarding his questions, I've tried to get some quotation from few local brands exhaust distributor and the price is shockingly, quite expensive as well.

By the way,

notworthy.gif low yat 82 did mention to check for some local brands' midbox such as topcat, matola etcs. Any specific reason to this? Are they really compatible with local made cars in Malaysia? inlet/outlet need to be the same as piping as well?
notworthy.gif how do we classify a good muffler? is it a must that the muffler inlet size needs to be the same size as piping or else will kacau the air flow? Btw, i saw some same inlet size with different body size. Is this affect as well? (pic included)

Thanks Otai2 icon_rolleyes.gif

ps:
1. i asked few shops while requested for price quote, and they said that lowest exists inlet/outlet for campro is 1.8" which is the standard one, not the performance one. Is this true?
2. just joined LYN, as i'm so noob and penniless to fail on my 1st attempt. whistling.gif

1st, like PedoJokerBear-XII thanks _Buyer for his questions. i have some question here. my car is an old honda accord ca1 and need to be change due to its rusty condition. so im planning to get a new exhaust system with good fc on it and less noise. my current engine is carb A18A with auto transmission. what is the recommended setting for it? if perodua and proton have hotbit, powerzone, marco what brand is suitable for old honda? TQ!

Lets say if your piping is 1.8", using a bigger muffler like 2" is still okay, no problems
Not until too big like 2.3" or 2.5" for the muffler

Finally. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Same goes for midbox right? So, seems like i got few shop in mind to finish up my exhaust mods. As i'll just maintain my current piping, then i'll just my parts separately, depends on my needs. Powerzone/hotbits 421 extractor, 2" inlet/outlet matola/everco straight bullet, and probably 2" inlet/outlet magnaflow s-flow muffler. I think it should be fine if i grind and weld it myself isn't it? flex.gif

just wanna share. do look for this shop for exhaust setup:

1. ah heng - usj 1
2. jian hang - taman bolton
3. ijan - batu caves

these are good exhaust shops, but a bit pricy if u compare to Kweng/Wai Heng, ofc. sweat.gif sweat.gif

..but most of all, you got the best out of your penny. icon_rolleyes.gif

yes. more loud than sflow.

there is slight different between sflow n straight flow. like u noe, sflow gives u more power on low or mid hp, mean while straight is d other way. if u change from sflow to vice versa, u can feel there is different although not much.

if goin for halfcut, better make sure its japang mali, wit jasma tag (ribet on d muffler).

kanasai lu... u kasi besar itu piping of course la... generally, for most car straight flow muffler pair best wit stock piping..
if u wan cheap n cheerful, kweng shop is d way to go..

topcat/matola etc hav better inner side quality.. generally, muffler in malaysia r universal.. MOST r 2" inlet...... so vry difficult to find smaller size..

well... it all depends on which school of tuning u r at. some school tune for most little resistance to exhaust flow, some tune for best sound wave pressure, n alot more schools..

generally, people will tune for little resistance to exhaust flow.. when u r this type of school, then using 2" muffler is better choice.

generally, resistance for straight flow muffler; -100cfm or below, resistance for sflow muffler; - cfm for inner diameter divide by 2. this is rough estimation based on more well known muffler..

cfm for different piping is here..
http://www.exhaustvideos.com/faq/how-to-ca...-pipe-diameter/
u r r lookin for performance or jus wanna ganti it n hope abit performance gain?

woot..
i came back after few weeks of tests for my exhaust. I installed PowerZone Extractor 421, Matola oval mid box (straight flow) and Matola S-flow muffler (big size) while maintains the stock piping. Sound-wise, i cant say more. Really silent, close to stock's sound, and a bit nice bassy sound when revving.

However, the result on my setup was quite a frustration to mine. I cant feel a lot of differences, oni a bit of pick up lower-mid (3.5k) rpm. Currently, it's getting better as my ECU relearned my driving style. Top speed? Weird case, i lost top speed. Cant reach 200kmh anymore. 185 topspeed at ~5.3k rpm. Cant go more. wtf shakehead.gif

So, i went to see an old friend, a vtech formen which tried my car. He scared me till my pants off as he said that my driving style doesnt suit the s-flow muffler i bought, as for now the muffler itself has become the flow resistance and there's a chance that it will affect my HEAD, as the backpressure was too high.

Can anyone verify this? Do i really need to change my muffler to straight flow instead? Is there any straight muffler which can provide low frequency bassy sound instead od praaaangggggggg sound?

Thanks Sifus. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

How big is your Matola S-flow? 2" inlet?

For straight flow, to avoid the pprraanngg sound, avoid types like the 5zigen Border 304 muffler
*
Yes. Currently is 2". Gonna sell soon anyway. doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

I see, that was what they call trumpet muffler isn't it? So, which type is recommended? Currently, i'm looking for JASMA approved muffler at half-cut but sadly, 2" seems like do not exist at all. Minimum inlet i can find is 2.3".

owh, btw, is there any good immitate stuff out there which is reliable?

Thanks. notworthy.gif

wats a vtech?
n go try out the mugen twin loop

and 2.3" straightflow muffler is fine with 2" pipes... had that setup last time...coz its nearing the end already
*
You know what i mean laugh.gif

The problem is i maintained my standard piping which is 1.75" i believe for campro iafm. 2.3" is quite some gap is u asked me.

Btw, someone offered me Kakimoto Racing R muffler for quite a good price. Inlet 2.3" but the inside piping is 2" all the way. Any comment guys? rclxub.gif

Added on May 12, 2012, 2:17 ambtw mugen twin loop immitate is ok? btw, just wonder twin loop is consider straight flow or s-flow?

I plan to change my LMST muffler. Noisy like.... doh.gif What size of inlet/outlet is best for my car? The exhaust system 3is stock, I just want to change the muffler. And will S/straight flow have any difference? I'm looking for bassy sound (but not very ahbeng loud) while idling brows.gif

i heard, if you're not planing to change your extractor, changing a good s-flow muffler will provide some improvement. I'm not sure tho, as i changed my full exhaust setup from extractor to muffler.
