Nah. Anet said that the expansion itself is priced at $50. The base game is free. The only thing to do, if you want a cheaper price is wait for a discount.

Yeah.. I don't really like the plans as well.. It feels like they aren't really any benefits or effort to value existing players..

At the very least there should be two plans of the plans. Like for new and existing players. Like for $50 new player get the expansion plus base game while for old players get the expansion and extra character slots or a slot and maybe bank expansion or something.. Man..
