Hi all,

Currently I'm using Toyota SEG 1.6M year 1999, since it is quite old, there are lot of noise in cabin, wear and tear everywhere, and not a comfortable ride enough for me. So, I went to test drive 5 cars recently, H City, H jazz Hybrid, Vios, Prius C and Elantra. Jazz and Elantra already dropped from the list.

So right now I am considering either:
1. Prius C (97k)
2. Vios G Limited (88k)
3. H City E (91k)

The main use of the car will be:
1. my everyday car to work at 10km distance with no traffic jam (in Kulim, Kedah)
2. once in a month I travels from Kulim to Kota Bharu thru Grik
3. once in a couple of monthI travels Kulim-KL thru PLUS highway

Cabin and trunk space is not a factor of choosing between those 3 cars. I am ok with Prius C space.
Regarding FC, also not a real factor, just a bonus for me if choosing a PC, since 9k cheaper for Vios OTR price compare to PC, equal to fuel saving for about 7 yrs of using PC.

Right now I really like PC, but the only concern is that, whether it is suitable for me to use it for travel between Kulim to KB, thru Gerik. The road in Gerik/Jeli is quite tough, lot of sharp corner, uphill and downhill. I need a very good acceleration car between 70-100kph to overtake slow lorry during uphill. During test drive, I realize PC have good acceleration from static but I didn't manage to try acceleration at high speed and during climbing uphill. Need you guys to share your experience driving this during uphill like cameron, karak highway, or Gerik.

Instead of acceleration during climbing uphill, other factors I'm looking for:
- A stable car at cornering around speed of 80-90kph.
- A comfortable and safe car for my family for long distance travel (not bumpy, smooth suspension, low wind/tires/engine noise in cabin)

Do you think I should go for PC instead of Vios or City taking into account the above factors? Is PC on par with Vios regarding uphill accelerate, noise insulation, and comfort ride?

What I like about PC compare to vios/city:
1. hi tech, 7 or 9 airbags and keyless.
2. CBU from Japan (IMO the quality is better from CKD, no?
3. no tax for hybrid cars, the SA told me, the original price is almost the same as camry if including tax
4. my wife like it, compact, easy to drive and park
5. The exterior looks is superb, sporty, aerodynamic. Not a dugong look like vios. Interior also better compare to vios IMO.
6. it is fun to see 20-30km/l in the MID after a journey.
7. got TRC and VSC compare to Vios.

thanks keanutan, conqu3ror and engah.

conqu3ror, u said PC is better than vios in every aspect other than space, means, it will do better than vios in uphill climbing? i see lot of vios do pretty good in uphill climbing at Gerik-Jeli road. I remember got few vios tapau my SEG on that tough road.

I already advertised my SEG for sale on mudah, autoworld and lowyat. hope to get buyer soon. trade in value is very low offered by toyota SA. I think I have to look for buyer myself.

engah, i already find few SA that offer extra 1k rebate, means i can get 6k discount for PC, plus full tank petrol, and 200-300 tint voucher.

good to hear that conqu3ror. now my decision is 90% PC - 10% vios. hehehe. H city, I think i want to drop it off the list.

during the test drive at toyota centre, i bring my 3 large bag, 30L, 40L and 50L deuter bag, filled them with pillow and also bring a big dslr bagpack. put all 4 bags in the test drive PC, still got some room for 2 large pack of pampers.

Hi ZaRR, full loaded PC climbing uphill is less powerful. I tried it to Genting already.

If you looking to tapau ppl or afraid being tapau, better go for City/Vios. After all, there is no perfect car in the world.
*
i am quite confused here, some said PC is on par or better than vios in term of performance.
actually i just want to tapau lorry on hill road. if you've been driving from gerik-jeli then you will know. so many lorry driving at 30-60kmh.

full loaded car climbing, even my 1.6 SEG with manual tranny also no power.
i experience this before on SEG, carry full trunk load, 4 adults and a child, in which 2 of the adults at the back are overweight. the result is, i didnt managed to do any overtaking during climbing. rclxub.gif

btw, when you full loaded your PC, does the rear suspension still doing well? i see vios when carry 3 adults at the back, the rear of the car tend to get lowered, same to my SEG.

finally, finished reading all pages in this v2 topic. huhuhu...
info regarding comparison between pc and vios performance, some said pc better and some said vios better. so, i just assume both are about the same, might felt differ due to individual factors.

one more aspect i didnt find anyone discussing it (or maybe i missed it), between vios and PC, which one is more silent in cabin, and which one is better handling at both cornering and highway high speed cruising?

thank you deeplydeluded. really glad lot of frens here help to give me your opinion.

i also agree with you, faster acceleration is more important than top speed. my current car only one time i drive close to 180kph, just to test it, then i not dare to go more. i am not the super speedy type. 150kph in highway is enough for me, provided that the car is easy to reach 150kph.

i am not too demanding, i just want to make sure that i make a right choice within my budget. either PC or vios. buying a car involve loan commitment for years, that is why i am too particular when choosing which car to buy. i read lot of reviews, test drive reports, and here i'm seeking experience sharing from the owner of PC that drive this car everyday, not just only test drive for few minutes or hours like those reviewers and test drivers. hybrid car is new thing for me, so i am a little bit concern on the power, comparing to vios, the car with about the same budget. but i am not a power hunger. just want to know which one of these 2 cars provide better power, better noise insulation, better handling and better comfort. of course each car has its own strength. but all this comparison between those cars i will gather, summarize them on a paper, evaluate them, and finally make a final decision.

Guys, wanna check with you guys, how much is the interest now? I've been quote 2.52 from maybank and cimb, and 2.41 from affin and rhb, here in penang (9 years loan). However my fren just book a pc in shah alam today and been quoted 2.42 from maybank and 2.38 from rhb. Last week when the bank call me i tried to nego the interest rate but she said the rate is standard and fixed.

Btw according to my fren, shah alam showroom offer 7k discount and free tinted.

i search around, and find out that the TRD bodykit rear skirting got 2 types, one is straight edge and no reverse sensor can be seen (like in toyota website) and the other one got some curve edge for the reverse sensor. (i believe imran's blue PC also have this type of bodykit)

Hope the picture is big enough to see the curve ...  whistling.gif

Finally my corolla seg sold. Drove to kl last night and meet up with buyer at wangsa maju this morning. I just sign the jpj form, give him the key, car cert, ic copy and he paid cash. Hopefully will get my pc soon. Patah kaki. Thinking of cycling to office in the mean time, zero fc, use fat instead, 25kcal per km. Hehehe..
