the only research i didnt do is the hybrid technology thing

but for me im looking towards the feel i get from driving the car and the things i get for the price i pay

so far i find the prius is actually quite noisy when revving compared to jazz

jazz also feels more responsive. but i like the look of prius better lol.

but one thing that surprises me is that this car doesnt have auto wiper and auto lights sweat.gif
*
With 5k discount, PC is now same price as Jazz. And dude, we don't rev PC often. You never try driving 140km/h on the wet road, you will be amazed how stable and silent PC is. I don't encourage you to speed here. laugh.gif

The petrol engine at Jazz is on ALL THE TIME, of course you don't hear the big difference like PC. PC petrol engine doesn't run all the time, and its 1.5L, can give in power anytime you want. Therefore it is Honda hybrid average is 18km/h while PC is average 22km/h. With 4 km difference, PC can roughly go extra 120km per full tank pump.

So you got extra 1200km after 10 pumps, and how many times you pump petrol in a year? You tell me. nod.gif

Ran over a ditch tonight at Mex highway during heavy rain, following a iswara in front and tire burst! Luckily air bags didn't jump out. Have to stop by a rest station to change tire under the rain. Luckily keanutan and others told me that the jack is under passenger seat. Thanks guys!! thumbup.gif

So far no damage on car body. But worry got damage on bottom of the car or suspension, other than bring back SC, how to check?

Hopefully I am not the first one who change a PC tire in Malaysia. If I am the first one, the spare tire is damn heavy!!

Now I pity the Jazz Hybrid driver, I would have waited for tow truck if I am driving Jazz Hybrid.

Driving Vios now interested with Prius C n wonder if it is wise to switch to PC. Promo is out there I can buy at RM90500 with 500 service voucher.
Definitely less powerful than Vios when I test drive it but the technology is impressive. Aqua blue is so cool!
Promo ends tomorrow
*
Consumer Report: Prius C the Most Reliable Car 2012 in US

With RM90500, you get
1. The most reliable car 2012 in US (MY PC and US PC come from same manufacturing plant)
2. 7 air bags
3. Vehicle Stability Control (not even Camry has it, only Accord highest spec, less than RM100k only Preve highest spec and other hybrid models have it)
4. 30% import tax and 75% excise duty exempted - you save 105% tax from MY government.
5. 1 tank RM60 for at least 700km.

Is PC worthy? you tell me. icon_rolleyes.gif

Wow, Malaysia road suck, lot of hole & ditch... sigh  doh.gif
Waste money for white elephant project(AES), why not spend a little bit to repair & maintain the road, help to reduce accident.

The tire just puncture or totally unusable anymore?

Must caution driving in raining.
*
The tire got a hole at the side, the wire inside is torn out during my crawl to nearest rest station. Tire totally unusable. Need to go SC Cheras tomorrow morning and get a new spare tire. Bridgetone Potenza 185/60/R15 is hard to find, all the tire shop at my place said need to order and wait. Any idea how much one would cost? hmm.gif

Also I am wondering does the technician there capable to spot any damage on suspension, drive shaft etc, since PC is a new model?

Added on November 5, 2012, 12:26 amDo you think the PC TRD got their TRD suspension set? If it is, then extra RM6990 could be worth buying?

thanks keanutan, conqu3ror and engah.

conqu3ror, u said PC is better than vios in every aspect other than space, means, it will do better than vios in uphill climbing? i see lot of vios do pretty good in uphill climbing at Gerik-Jeli road. I remember got few vios tapau my SEG on that tough road.

I already advertised my SEG for sale on mudah, autoworld and lowyat. hope to get buyer soon. trade in value is very low offered by toyota SA. I think I have to look for buyer myself.

engah, i already find few SA that offer extra 1k rebate, means i can get 6k discount for PC, plus full tank petrol, and 200-300 tint voucher.
*
Hi ZaRR, full loaded PC climbing uphill is less powerful. I tried it to Genting already.

If you looking to tapau ppl or afraid being tapau, better go for City/Vios. After all, there is no perfect car in the world.

Alignment is out, chamber also out. Need to leave my PC at SC overnight tomorrow. By the way, the bridgestone 185/60/R15 is quite expensive, SC quote me RM270++ (they don't even have stock) and i got RM245 at my area.

Guys, any good place for bridgestone tire?

I think go uphill is about the weight for PC. aragongon had went Genting with full load 4 adult & 1 child, but seem his not happy about the power, cause keep letting other cars to cut over.

Personally for PC, you won't feel the power all becoz of eCVT, due to it is not eco/fuel save to have sudden boost/pick up. I live in Cheras which have plenty of hills, but I can easily accelerate on hill & cut across other cars whenever I want. rclxms.gif
*
Haha, I am get used to other cars cutting over me. I am very cheapskate on petrol. biggrin.gif Full pedal all the way up Genting still managed to get 13km/l. Not bad!

You are right, driving alone really can overtake anyone anytime. thumbup.gif

bridgestone tyre re080 is the original tyre. If I wanna change to other tire, i need to change 2 at least. hmm.gif

You are right, the tire is very silent during raining.

What other tire you would recommend? Maybe you guys discussed it before but sorry I didn't really read all the posts in V1 & V2.

i am quite confused here, some said PC is on par or better than vios in term of performance.
actually i just want to tapau lorry on hill road. if you've been driving from gerik-jeli then you will know. so many lorry driving at 30-60kmh.

full loaded car climbing, even my 1.6 SEG with manual tranny also no power.
i experience this before on SEG, carry full trunk load, 4 adults and a child, in which 2 of the adults at the back are overweight. the result is, i didnt managed to do any overtaking during climbing.  rclxub.gif

btw, when you full loaded your PC, does the rear suspension still doing well? i see vios when carry 3 adults at the back, the rear of the car tend to get lowered, same to my SEG.
*
Full loaded PC can still tapau lorries and buses, don't worry. Just don't expect to overtake small cars.

PC suspension is good. Maybe it is 2012 model and made in Japan. Other than limited space in the car, it is still quite comfortable climbing uphill and rolling downhill. It is comfortable and stable during rain or 140kmh driving.

tongue.gif  ic, prius c dont have rpm indicator. so, do u hear heavy engine rev sound when maintaining 110km/h?

im quite happy with jazz hybrid FC, slight better than petrol car. haha. to me acceleration is important when i need to come out from junction during rush hour or run a red light  brows.gif

jazz back seat not only can fold down like prius c. it can fold up. if u dont how it can fold up, can go google n c. bicycle can put standing on back seat ^^ bicycle can bring everywhere
*
Prius C is not like normal petrol car where engine RPM determine the speed. At constant 110km/h, I heard wind noise much louder than engine sound. The engine sound is like petrol car 2000rpm. You can join our PC gathering next time and i give u a ride. tongue.gif The engine sound will sound like normal car above 100km/h while above 140km/h

PC have enough acceleration when we need it. The reason we drive it slow is because we want to get good FC, which is the main reason buying this car. i tried to aim 27km/l thus i drive slow. I get 18km/l also during rushing journey. Normal drive I get around 23km/l to 25km/l.

Is good Jazz hybrid can put in a bicycle, but no spare tyre is a big NO NO. I just met an accident last Sat night at Mex Highway where raining heavily. Driving my wife and kid while run over a ditch and front right tyre burst instantly, have to change tire at raining night. Feel so blessed I didn't choose Jazz Hybrid.

Agree that Jazz hybrid has a nice outlook and interior. But for me, RM92k for FC slightly better than petrol car and somemore no spare tire. Not suitable for family ride.

Anyway need to consult all the Tai Kor here, since the door is keyless... wouldn't it be unsafe at petrol station??  Somebody could just press the start button and drive away isnt it?
*
My way at petrol station: Off engine, pull the petrol trigger, get out of the car, lock the car, pump petrol, finish pumping, unlock the car, get in the car, lock the car, start engine, go.

Always put the key in your pocket, anytime you leave your car, your car can't go far. In case if someone try to rob you of your car, just run. They can damage the car but can't drive it away. However, PC is not a popular model for car thief. One of the reason is whoever get a stolen PC, need to get back Toyota service centre for maintenance.

Opted for fully synthetic oil. Including alignment plus balancing, the bill was RM397.50. Overall FC rate stands at 27.5km/l for 10k km.

27.5km/l for 10k km? shakehead.gif It means every full tank you can travel 1000km!

Added on November 19, 2012, 11:28 pmI found out that on the highway, set the cruise control between 80km/h to 100km/h, the FC will just slowly climb up to 25km/l. Up hill down hill let it climb let it glide. Longer journey better FC.

The only challenge is there is always car/bus blocking in front.

I saw the real car before, twice. Once it was in a petrol station charging. Once on the road.
The plug connects to the car looks like those industrial grade plug, like those types they use for the big car elevators in SC.
But truthfully the real car looks very nice and futuristic, both interiorly and exteriorly. Spacious.

I think Nissan is running some test project on Leaf locally. Volunteer users supposed to give feed back after a trial period.
It's a nice but unrealistic car due to poor mileage even fully charged. But somehow it has market in overseas. hmm.gif  hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
Nissan Leaf in Australia

Nissan Leaf is selling around AUD515000 (around RM168k) in Australia, what price could it be in Malaysia?

A car which single charge can only go 170km worth RM170k, will you buy it?

Say a single charge take about 1hour (which is very good for a car, my laptop take longer than that), means you need to spend at least 2 hours waiting at charge station on the journey from KL to JB. drool.gif

Don't forget where does the electricity power comes from in Malaysia power plant? It is still natural gas/petrol/coal. So the energy conversion is petrol/natural gas/coal --> electricity --> battery --> car wheel. There are more energy lost during conversion. So the car save the environment or make it worse?

No regret getting this car. My FC is significantly improving when comparing with it's earlier days.
Today I was testing on it's hard acceleration and speed while on MEX.
Test 1. Was at 90 kmph, middle lane. Some outer lane cars like H city, H accord, mod wira, new saga speeding from far behind damn fast (like 120?). So I got into outer lane and accelerated. I was quite surprised that PC can accl from 90-130 kmph like within seconds, with speeding cars from behind have no time to catch up!  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif
Test 2. I was traveling at about 90 kmph. A H city came very fast from behind and tail-gated. I floored the pedal. Immediately my PC distanced itself from that tail-gater. Then I slowed to 110 kmph, it took that city some time to "crawl" to my hind and tail-gated me again.  whistling.gif  whistling.gif  whistling.gif  No doubt PC accl better than a regular 1.5 L petrol car.
Test 3. PC was VERY stable during the cornering towards the Putrajaya toll (from KL direction) @ 95 kmph.

After tests 1-3, FC was about 22 km/L (including some traffic within KL getting into MEX).  thumbup.gif

Test 4. Tried to get to it's top speed. Not impressive, managed to get to 159 kmph on slight down-slope (hard to push any further but did not insist). Wind noise started to be obvious after 120 kmph. But the impressive part was that other than the wind noise, we didn't feel speeding even at 130 kmph. And even at 140 kmph, the engine noise sounds like 100 kmph of a regular 1.5 L car. 5-minute FC showed about 18 km/L!  thumbup.gif

Disclosure: This is not my driving style, nor am I encouraging these tests. These were done to put PC into some on-the-road tests only.

And, hopefully there were no speed traps!  shocking.gif
*
Yes, whenever people say that "H Jazz/Insight are more powerful than PC" during their test drive (normally less than 5km, do you ever have 10km test drive??). I am like shakehead.gif.

Well, if those are the minor issues which you're referring to or talking about. Yes, you better use another models instead of Toyota hybrid car. If not, it will make your life miserable everyday when you heard those sound and aroma smelling of glue, recycle plastic with paper and rubber. Those painful feeling which I know you will be very hard to bear with.

I vote "Yes" to you to change a different car nod.gif Don't want you to suffer, bro  tongue.gif

Agreed!

kelson86, maybe you should change to others like Vios, City, Forte. Their engine sound will cover the rattling, squeaking sounds so you won't have issue above. In PC, sometimes it is "annoying" that the I can hear the pedestrian sneezing/coughing while I am running in EV mode. smile.gif

the problem not as bad as u all think actually, the rating sound can be hear because our PC consider no engine sound. most of the asean made car have much more problem such as gap of the assembly part. PC so far i only have 2 place got rating sound, is it consider bad? the ketiak smell not 100% sure is sillicon smell or not, but it's look like the smell like recycle material. if you always switch on the aircon while driving, u shouldn't smell it.

different people got different needs on the car, if you look for a very good fc and with those trouble free. LEXUS CT200 ?

my PC sometime ago can achieve 930km for full tank, that compensate me for everything unhappy already.

about the Sound Deadening.. i will not consider it, Sound Deadening = air deadening. if you fart in the car, the smell will forever there.. kidding... some sound is important while you driving, eg if car too close on you or people hon you.
*
Agreed.

I think the noise is obvious due to high level of quietness in PC. A cough during bed time is always louder than a shout at bus station. Sometimes my TnG tag in passenger drawer generate loud noise, simply the car is too quiet.

The quieter PC is, the more external noise driver can hear. Sound/air deadening will only isolate the driver from necessary noise like nearby motorcycle or car horn.

I don't think assembly quality got problem, our cars are manufactured in same production line, same factory as Japan, US, Australia PC. It is no possible for Inspira-Lancer similar built quality situation.

Camry's value also around RM59k before tax (that's why Camry lowest spec priced RM97k at Langkawi). Unless you agree that Camry is also poorly built, else RM59k is not the reason of assembly quality.

My 2 cent...

Actually I have no doubt about Toyota quality, what I meant was Toyota might not include those soundproof stuff into PC as much like other model due to the cost of the hybrid and other cost factor which we don't know of. And the same time, the quietness of the PC had make us think those are the issues we had, which other model do had but can't be heard due to the noisiness of their engine.  doh.gif

Question now is, if we add in those stuff like AutoFoam. Does it make it more quiet and can even hear a insect flying around inside our PC. If it does, then we will have more issues coz we'll hear everything more clearly(as you say "A cough during bed time is always louder than a shout at bus station". nod.gif
*
Total agree! rclxms.gif

I think our car built quality is good overall, soundproof may not be part of the car design.

Looking on Proton Inspira/Preve forum first page where they share New Car CheckList list or Things could Go Wrong. I do feel lucky with PC built quality.

No offense to Proton owner.

Article from Toyota Hong Kong website:-

Soon after the official debut of the Prius C the "Prius C Longest Drive Challenge" got underway in Hong Kong.

A Prius C with a full tank of petrol travelled throughout Hong Kong from 8am to 8pm during the several days of the Challenge. After more than two days, the odometre reading showes that Prius C had put on a total of 910.8km. of an average of 28km/L.

That's why the Prius C deserves the distinction of being called the "Best of the New Generation of Fuel saving Cars!"

Really can get 900km plus for full tank?? A new record for us to break....rclxms.gif  thumbup.gif

What is the best record we had here so far??  800km+??

If Toyota can organize a Prius C Mileage Challenge for the PC owner, how nice would it be.... rclxm9.gif

Challenge travel from KL to JB(331.8 km) then from JB to Kuantan(361.0 km) and from there back to KL(252.6 km) using 1 full tank....total distance is 945.4km....what you guys think huh??

Well, just a thought.....  tongue.gif

Anyway Hong Kong road is not like ours. Their road are pretty straight(highway) and in city have not much up hill or down hill. But I am still wondering how he make through all those traffic jam there. Every three months I have to travel there for meeting and their traffic jam is almost as bad as ours(KL or PJ).

The driver in the video achieve 28km/l for 1 full tank only (aka 910km).

Over here in Malaysia, Engah's record is RM27km/l for 10000km.
