Just collected my Aqua Mica Prius C today  thumbup.gif.

Nearly went home without the car key because the SA had the key in his pocket when I drove off but luckily he remembered on time and called me so I waited for him by the side of the road to pass me back the key. Was told that I could still continue driving without the key but won't be able to start the car again later unless i have the key with me tongue.gif.

Engah, thanks for your sharing. Just 2 questions:
1.) when you are cruising, what speed are you maintain on?

2.) during acceleration, how you manage your accelerator? slow acceleration or fast acceleration? on what speed only you kick in petrol engine?

Thanks a lot!!! notworthy.gif

for me.. my PC kick in petrol engine when speed more than 70km/h... i'll will reconfirm...

70km/h is awesome. You must be very patient. I am trying my best to stay till 60km/h. Mostly accelerate till 55kmh already give up and kick in petrol engine.

1. Morning rush hour, max I could drive was 60 to 75 km/hr, most of the time below 40

2. On flat land, 65km/hr, down hill, 72km/h

This morning, when I left my house, petrol engine started to kick in even when I was driving in the housing estate at a low speed, with battery more than half charged. Something I do not understand.

well are ur frens hybrid drivers as well who "warm up their engine" before setting off?

improved automotive technologies have vastly reduce the need for engine warm up, and even thats hardly apply to our country weather.

and how quick or slow the car moves depend on u stepping the accel. u floor it both will kick in to give u max power. light footed and only EV will used.

yep.. he own prius 1.8 ... what he tell me that after our prius ready.. gear at P, hand brake ON.. press a little bit accel paddle.. until your petrol engine start... the petrol engine will run only 30-45sec .. and then go to standby mode.. after that u start to drive your PC...

for me on the logic.. quite true.. coz our PC will start move using battery motor... and then after few KM/speed the petrol kick in... at that speed i think it a little bit " shock".. to the petrol engine... hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

Wow. how u do it ? I try my best off air con at 30.3km/l.. is it weight and road matter most ?

l found out that the battery level effect our PC FC a lot .. i can easyly get over 30km/L with battery level at least on 5-7 bar .. just drive over the eco ev zone to charge up the battery and the next thing u know is the FC getting over 30km/L .. i think engah manage to get his high FC is bcos he is charging uo the battery on highway so that the Hybrid system will use more electric motor to run the car ..

no need to warm up engine even on prius and prius c .. our car come with a tank that store the heated oil so that when the engine is cold it will pump into moving part and the atkinson system help to raising up the correct tempature for the engine ..

even none hybrid engine (new engine ) manufacturer also not recommend to warm up the engine ..

saw some article also say early morning stationery warm up engine do more damage than start up drive slowly ..

the only thing need to do is not to high rev the engine .. on early morning start ..

i also realise when battery level higher, much lower FC, and it even got more power to climb hill. i realise after my car service by taman shamelin, the battery charge very slow. i think the brake adjustment will caused the MG2 (motor/generator charging from the brake and wheel) run out. i check in other forum, some even said after they remove the 12v battery, some variable in the computer will reset and it will caused the PC to relearn your driving ways. this is my 2nd services, first service in bangi they dont change my brake, but this cheras one they adjust without my agreement....

i think warm up engine some time might need, especially when the PC left 2 bar battery, definetely the PC have to run in engine, so that time better let the engine charge enough then only move the car. but on toyota, their manual do mention no need to warm up the car.

Prius C will start the engine if the car engine temperature is low, no matter you are driving on EV mode, this is to warm up the engine.

I stay in the hill top, when temperature below 24c in the morning, the engine will auto start even my battery is 7-8 bar full and driving slow.

Thanks for your explanation. Now I understand. This morning the temp was relatively low, that 's why the engine kicked in as soon as I started driving

Yup both my sis who own big prius do tell me. Always go for P when stop at traffic light and so does the manual. But i found it very dangerous esp uphill trafic light as when shifting with break step on. The car will reverse a bit ^^

thanks engah for the tips. Manage to get my best km/l today with aircon + gps + radio + light on @ 30.4km/l . Airon blast at 24 degree celcius and for 13.8km journey.

Seem hover at cruise speed with EV on really works. ^^ . will try to perfect this cruising speed at EV ^^

Has anyone managed to get Toyota to:

(i) Replace the rubber whetherstrip at the driver's door to minimise the loud wind noise from entering.

(ii) Replace or apply anti-rust coating on the exhaust pipe and hinges that were rusted since the delivery of car.
