arghhhhhhhhhh

im torn between this car and honda jazz

both is really really nice car

I think I know how you feel like now. Actually a couple of weeks back, I was trying very hard to make up my mind between Honda and Toyota hybrid. I dun really like Jazz but I was eyeing on the new 2012 Civic Hybrid, an extra of +20K different from Prius C and less 20k from Prius. It price was between the two Prius.

Then I start googling around and do some research between Honda and Toyota hybrid system. Man!!! Honda hybrid technology had nothing to compare with Toyota hybrid and it took 13 years for them to reach their milestone to sold 1 million units world wide. doh.gif But Toyota itself in 1 year sold 1 million hybrid units world wide. Now you tell me who is better. To me is like semi-auto wash machine(honda) and a fully auto wash machine (toyota). So which one you wanted, a semi auto or a fully auto machine (I just giving as example).

But still it depend on the buyer, if he want style and look good than honda (he don't need to buy a hybrid car, if you do a bit more research on their hybrid system). There was a statement from one of the media cons and pros on honda hybrid..."you can still drive it when the hybrid battery is die". So I wonder, if I agree to that statement then as well get a none hybrid car(since their FC is not as good as toyota hybrid). As I did my searching, I found people in State mention their 1st generation Prius battery are still working. So why do we worry so much about the battery giving way. There is a few guys in US repairing those battery as well. Normally after 8~10 years or longer (depend how you use the car), one or two of the cell will give way. So they just replace the fault one which cost them very cheap(you can find it in youtube for more details).

Anyway I'm just sharing my thoughts and finding. Hopefully its help you to decide which one you really wanted(I had make mine decision...its Prius C which I booked a day ago, if Prius driver seat has more roomy, I would had taken it).

Don't take my word for it...do some research yourself and you will know what I am talking about. Cheers!!!

the only research i didnt do is the hybrid technology thing

but for me im looking towards the feel i get from driving the car and the things i get for the price i pay

so far i find the prius is actually quite noisy when revving compared to jazz

jazz also feels more responsive. but i like the look of prius better lol.

but one thing that surprises me is that this car doesnt have auto wiper and auto lights sweat.gif
*
Well, my friend I think you have say the magic word "the feel". The most important is you must feel good when you sit on the driver seat. I call it comfortable, coz we are the one will be driving it around for the next few years.

About the Jazz responsive....I think you really have to check out their hybrid technology. After than only you will understand why Honda hybrid car are most responsive (just like Civic hybrid as well).

For me, I pick prius is purely becoz of it hybrid technology for FC. Currently I am driving an exora, so I dun feel the different with the pick up on both (when I do the test drive on prius).

Is all up to you, you are the captain of the vessel. tongue.gif

The big drawback for Honda Hybrid is the air con compressor off together with the engine. Imagine while driving under the hot sun, your air-con off while you stop, you be sweating & cook if stuck in the jam.
*
Hi guys, I think you all should know that the latest new civic hybrid solves that air-con problem by adding an electric-motor-driven portion to the A/C compressor. So, at a stop, the electric compressor keeps the cabin cool. Don't want the honda ppl think that we are dump, when still talking about thing that honda had solve already(but not all models currently, only new civic hybrid launched this year). cool2.gif

Thanks for that link. I like the part which he mention

"eCVT is an excellent transmission system because mechanically it is so simple. One single planetary gearset, no gear-shifting wear-and-tear, no clutch, no hot-running torque converter, no regular-CVT friction belts.

Unlike a regular-car multispeed gear-shifting transmission that has over 100 moving parts, the PSD transmission in the Prius has all of 22 moving parts. Less moving parts = less potential failure points = lower maintenance."
thumbup.gif

The more I research and google around on hybrid tech, the more I respect Toyota hybrid technology.

After watching this link:-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLNDGUISTYM...=3&feature=plcp

As an engineer myself, I totally salute to Toyota hybrid technology, it real awesome...I pay my notworthy.gif & thumbup.gif to Toyota hybrid system...... biggrin.gif

+1

I think Toyota TRD set is too much. Just LED DRLs, rear combination lamp garnish, a sports stripe along the lower body and TRD Sportivo carpet mats cost you RM7K.

For Ford Fiesta, the XTR version have much more add on then Toyota. UMW Toyota really think we don't know the maths & how to make comparison.
*
I found this at facebook, selling the same thing Toyota is offering....

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1...66020648&type=1

must call to check out the price TRD set. The shop is at Shah Alam. Who know it might be selling cheaper.

So best is dont give key to ppl and dont bypass ppl wth devices this big
*
Man!!! all of those are selling at alibaba website for only USD 1~2 per unit. Only take 20 secs to complete, so fast to do it when you sent your car for washing and servicing. Later get someone to tail you back where you stay and find a best time to take your car without breaking anything. People are getting smarter nowadays.

So we have to be smarter then them. Well, since I am in the electronic field. Now have to burn some mid night oil to make some thing out before I get my PC. Have to design some new electronic gadget which is not selling out there in the market. Hope this wouldn't void the Toyota warranty... unsure.gif

Looking at some of these copy devices, they do need access to the Diagnostic port in order to retrieve the security codes.  If a mechanical lock is put in place to prevent access to the port, it will surely discourage them to try to hack your system.

I'll look into how to make a lock.

Only unlock it when servicing at the SC.
*
Good idea, bro. thumbup.gif If not I can make a electronic digital code lock at the dashboard, whenever start car need to enter 4 digit code to release alarm. With out those code, got smart key also no point, car wouldn't start... brows.gif

As for tracking car, just register a mobile sim card and use some phone apps to track it. Unless they drive it into a metal container then nobody able to track the car and start removing all the parts. sweat.gif

Another good info on smart key cracking which I want to share here:-

http://vintrack.com/Relay%20Attack%20Train...letin%20SIU.pdf

Very interesting....so now we have to be careful when ppl follow us around at shopping mall or at car park.. sweat.gif

Here is an article from a Swiss Researchers on how to hack smart key system:-

http://spectrum.ieee.org/riskfactor/green-...researchers-say

Cool stuffs....

But anyway those guys will go for Prius or more expensive car first before coming to our PC. brows.gif So no need to worry too much!!!!

THEFT RATES FOR PASSENGER MOTOR VEHICLES STOLEN IN CALENDAR YEAR 2010 for Prius is 78 units only in Malaysia. Comparing with CAMRY in same year is 691 units, its just like chicken feet.

But i read article. The car is being theft by either tow or owner left key in car.

Well, if those guys really want your car. I think there wouldn't be anyway to avoid. Like one of my friend, his dream car is Mercedes and finally he got one. But less then 3 months, its was gone. Best part is that he was rob by two guys drove a Mercedes Benz and well dress with tie. Come up to him and ask him for the key, Told him they know where his son study(mention the school name and class room his son in) and wife name & where she is working. Not to mention where he live as well. So they know everything about you before they rob you. And teach him how to make the police report as well for insurance claim. shocking.gif

Those guys are really pro.... so don't worry so much, sweat.gif if they want it nothing can stop them. blink.gif

Here is another pretty cool gadget for our PC,

http://www.lelong.com.my/scangauge-ii-obd-...7-01-Sale-I.htm

I might get it for my PC once I got it. Can help to monitor our PC most vital systems and provide the kind of real-time information it have been missing. Features include more than 15 built-in digital gauges, 5 sets of trip data and an easy-to-use Scan Tool that shows both set and pending trouble codes. It come along with a detachable six foot cable cord.

It can check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and if found, can display how many there are and the Trouble Codes themselves. Using the internet or repair manuals, these can be translated to the failed component and repairs can be made. It provides real-time gauges to show you what is going on “under the hood” so you can catch issues early before they become more expensive problems.

Well, I think it a good gadget to have that only cost RM550 which I love to have one. So those SC can't cheat or bullshit me any more. What is your thought, guys??

The tire got a hole at the side, the wire inside is torn out during my crawl to nearest rest station. Tire totally unusable. Need to go SC Cheras tomorrow morning and get a new spare tire. Bridgetone Potenza 185/60/R15 is hard to find, all the tire shop at my place said need to order and wait. Any idea how much one would cost?  hmm.gif

Also I am wondering does the technician there capable to spot any damage on suspension, drive shaft etc, since PC is a new model?

Added on November 5, 2012, 12:26 amDo you think the PC TRD got their TRD suspension set? If it is, then extra RM6990 could be worth buying?
*
Funny thing is UMW always did this. They include those tires that is hard to find at our market. Happen to my Unser many years back, they are doing the same old thing again. vmad.gif

US Toyota are using 175/65R15 Original Equipment Bridgestone Turanza EL400-02 and for Prius c Four factory option size tire is a 195/50R16. Wonder we can change it to those size or not?? and any different feeling on those size? hmm.gif
