so all I can do is just drive normally, stopping at rest station maybe 2 times for 10 mins break like that lor? =/

QUOTE(deckbuild @ Nov 9 2012, 02:24 PM)
Maybe you can stop every 1 hr for 5 mins. If I'm not wrong, there are a few that collected car at Penang and drove back immediately to KL?

Anyway if you read the manual, they mention do not drive for prolong period during breaking in.

Added on November 9, 2012, 2:25 pm

Also try to vary your speed from 90 to 110, but try to maintain at 90 most of the time.
*
From the manual in v2:
●For the first 200 miles (300 km):
Avoid sudden stops.
●For the first 1000 miles (1600 km):
• Do not drive at extremely high speeds.
• Avoid sudden acceleration.
• Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.

A few stops plus varying speeds on long distance traveling should be fine.

Does any one PC can get FC 48KM/L on down hill? My PC so far havent got chance to test it but my HCH just break the record of 48.2km/l when i bek from my home town Titi to KL.

[attachmentid=3151481]

Er, once I drove to tapau food about 1 km plus away from home, slightly downhill + 2 traffic lights + some flat roads, managed to get 88 km/L. Would that be considered to have broken HCH record?

I m future to own PC owner, I heard from SA now got ready stock for certain colors how can long waiting list....

I goin to order after 18 next month.....

I m hesitating bcos too many older generation ppl means driver which is almost or above 50 are skeptical about Prius C technology.....bcos they believe the saving is not worth the money pay for the car......
Here got any veteran owner? how do you convince yourself? Maybe some sifu or tai kor can teach how to explain to this group of drivers.....

You have come to the right forum. Here, we will brain wash you to get a PC (if it's in your list of consideration lah...) cool2.gif cool2.gif
I'm not a veteran owner, but I managed to convince myself when encountered those Qs...

1. New technology? It is not new, it's a seasoned technology. Just tell them that Prius' tech has been on for >10 years in USA, and Toyota HSD is already proven to be one of the most reliable technology. 10-yr old prius still in use reliably till this day in the states.

2. The savings may not worth the money paid? Of course you don't compare with kancil. Let's compare with Vios 1.5G (Vios beacuse those old folks usually already set their minds with Toyota)...

PC 97K
Vios 87K
Thus, PC +10K

Let's assume after 5 yrs the amount of fuel you used in Vios is equivalent to RM300 x 12 months x 5 yrs = 18K
And let's assume the amount of fuel saved in PC is just 1/3 of Vios
Means with the similar mileage with PC after 5 yrs: RM 200 x 12 x 5 = 12K
Means you save only 6K of fuel, means PC -6K
(Please bear in mind the more petrol you use routinely, the more you save with PC)

So, after 5 yrs, car price + total fuel expenditure:
PC 97K + 12K = 109K
Vios 87K + 18K = 105K
Means after 5 yrs you spent 4K more on PC (savings on fuel can't offset the money paid for the car, that's what those old folks think too)

BUT, then you decide to sell your car...
PC value, say 65K? (agak2 only lah)
Vios value 55K? (most 5-yr Vios in mudah.my ranging 48K-53K)
Minus the 4K you paid extra on PC after 5 yrs...
You get extra 6K after 5 yrs for PC vs Vios

Because the extra money you paid to PC partly contributes to the resale value, but extra money you spent on petrol in Vios DOES NOT contribute to resale value AT ALL

Not to mention with more money you get back after 5 yrs, you HAVE ENJOYED (what Vios 1.5G does not offer):
1. extra 5 airbags
2. VSC
3. Traction control (1-3 may have already saved your life)
4. Keyless entry with push start
5. quieter rideS
6. better acceleration with reasonable top speed
7. (Anything else anyone?)

Afterall, you are the one who's using the car, right? Ultimately you have to convince yourself, not to convince others...

Maintenance is even easier/lower with the Prius/Prius C with:
1. Beltless operations in the engine
2. Less wear & tear to the engine, you clock 100k km in a HSD, most of the time its only 50%-70% was contributed by the ICE (RPM hovering around 1k-2k some more sweat.gif )
3. Regenerative braking...some in priuschat never changed their brake pads in years  wink.gif

Will add up once i can think of more...all this just spontaneously popped up my mind while writing  tongue.gif

If he dun throw a stone at my neighbour house with a big bang sound, I wouldn't go to the window to look out. Stupid move but maybe he want to see anyone in the house or not.  shocking.gif

No regret getting this car. My FC is significantly improving when comparing with it's earlier days.
Today I was testing on it's hard acceleration and speed while on MEX.
Test 1. Was at 90 kmph, middle lane. Some outer lane cars like H city, H accord, mod wira, new saga speeding from far behind damn fast (like 120?). So I got into outer lane and accelerated. I was quite surprised that PC can accl from 90-130 kmph like within seconds, with speeding cars from behind have no time to catch up! icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
Test 2. I was traveling at about 90 kmph. A H city came very fast from behind and tail-gated. I floored the pedal. Immediately my PC distanced itself from that tail-gater. Then I slowed to 110 kmph, it took that city some time to "crawl" to my hind and tail-gated me again. whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif No doubt PC accl better than a regular 1.5 L petrol car.
Test 3. PC was VERY stable during the cornering towards the Putrajaya toll (from KL direction) @ 95 kmph.

After tests 1-3, FC was about 22 km/L (including some traffic within KL getting into MEX). thumbup.gif

Test 4. Tried to get to it's top speed. Not impressive, managed to get to 159 kmph on slight down-slope (hard to push any further but did not insist). Wind noise started to be obvious after 120 kmph. But the impressive part was that other than the wind noise, we didn't feel speeding even at 130 kmph. And even at 140 kmph, the engine noise sounds like 100 kmph of a regular 1.5 L car. 5-minute FC showed about 18 km/L! thumbup.gif

Disclosure: This is not my driving style, nor am I encouraging these tests. These were done to put PC into some on-the-road tests only.

And, hopefully there were no speed traps! shocking.gif

QUOTE(imran6789 @ Nov 21 2012, 07:45 PM)
Yepp, heard about the car. But i dont think its practical enough in Malaysia. Things to consider:-
1. How far the car can go on a full charge.
2. How long does it takes to full charge the battery.
If you were to travel from south to north, how long will your journey take. Remember that our plug point output is only 240v. You need a high output plug point to fast charge the battery.

I guess this are a few things we need to consider before investing on EV car. So my best bet is still hybrid.....

Nissan leaf can go 120KM per charge, each full charge take 8 hours.
This car is only meant for short distance city driving, not even able to reach Serembam from KL probably, even you manage to reach, you need to wait 8 hours to come back  blink.gif  hmm.gif  sweat.gif

I saw the real car before, twice. Once it was in a petrol station charging. Once on the road.
The plug connects to the car looks like those industrial grade plug, like those types they use for the big car elevators in SC.
But truthfully the real car looks very nice and futuristic, both interiorly and exteriorly. Spacious.

I think Nissan is running some test project on Leaf locally. Volunteer users supposed to give feed back after a trial period.
It's a nice but unrealistic car due to poor mileage even fully charged. But somehow it has market in overseas. hmm.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

Guys, regarding door visors.
Does door visor significantly reduce wind noise, including at normal speed?
Does it reduce drag coefficient thus increase FC?

hi all,

I initially booked my PC in July, during September they sent a letter for the RM380 eVoucher, and by October, I asked my SA for the 2k deduction. When I went to my first service, the counter says I do not have any eVoucher creditted despite I show them the letter that I received. I had to pay on the spot(lucky I brought my wallet) and was very angry and called my SA.

My SA replied that "You want the 2k discount or the RM380 eVoucher" and I felt even angrier. So I called up Toyota Support and they ask me to send an email to them with the letter scanned as proof. I sent the letter and by today it's a week's time and no one called or replied my email.

This made me furious somemore, I wrote another email and this time I cc Toyota Japan(email given by timeonce, thanks! =p) and I got a call like an hour later saying the RM380 eVoucher is creditted to my car already. I checked through TribeToyota and indeed, the RM380 is there

Just an experience with lousy SA and lazy Customer Support by Toyota to share with you all =)
*
I had similar experience whereby they sent me the e-voucher but it was not e-credited online during the service. The SC service advisor was very kind to call up the HQ and e-credited for me before I collected my car. It was in Segambut SC. Just in case anyone get into similar situation, you can request the SC service advisor to call up and clarify with the HQ.

QUOTE(wankf @ Nov 22 2012, 12:21 PM)
Here is my assessment in order of what they improve.

1. reduce glair... especially when the sun is low in the sky.
2. allow air in when parked in the hot sun without security or rain worries.
3. reduce air noise when driving with windows partially down.
4. look good without being too obtrusive.

So, not at all reduce to wind noise?

*
I got the 2k discount too. I think as long as you received the e-voucher, just push the SC service advisor to contact HQ. If he still refuse, then tell him it's done by other service advisors and threatened him with poor customer feedback when they send the service feedback forms to you. I think if you do receive the e-voucher letter, means it has nothing to do with the SA.

Complain from an owner in Tribe forum. Is it anyone from here?
really a big disappointment, the prius cabin isn't that "silent" as i expect it to be.. the car looks pretty solid but in fact NOT! my 3 months old prius dashboard start making noise and some in the luggage area.. when i first got my car, i find that it is very bumpy and there are already some noise too.. my first thought was it might be the tyre pressure too high..so i head towards a petrol station to check and find out that the tyre pressure was 300kpaso i reduced it to 220kpa as recommended.. after that it is not so bumpy anymore.. but the riding comfort and sound proof still no way to compare to my previous ride camry..ok i know camry is totally different category with prius so just can't compare with it.. but i just don't expect a 97k toyota car cabin to have the plastic rattling squeaky noise like our old proton car! even my friend's pesona cabin is more quieter and feel more solid than me ..what a shame!! not to mention that we have a very high tech hybrid engine in our car but we don't have and can't have a simple auto door lock security feature which the entry level vios already have it!!! and i've done some research on the internet and find that rattling is a common issue for the gen 3 prius.. another common issue is the smelly air-cond when you first switch it on.. some folks sold their prius just because they can't stand the "salted fish" smell..and it will get worse and worse later on.. this car is totally CBU from JAPAN itself and yet to have such a low quality built! wondering what is happening to the toyota nowadays.. btw i am going to the service center and complain and have them get the job done..wondering anyone here have the same issue with me? if so please share your experience here, tq

i have a 100% same case with you, that's is just a minor issue where i can accepted, the rating sound is actually come from the "hanger/joiner" among your door and the car body (same to the back sit). drive to the ts and apply their grease will do. my car did not have salted fish smell but the smell more like ketiak smell. put some fragrance into the car can solve the problem. More thing u have to suffer when u start facing toyota SC
others.

i found this "fuel suction plate sub-assembly" = RM298 in our 4th service, any one know what is that?

Rattling (front) and squeaking (back) sounds, yes. Sent for repair in July and posted in this forum.
Smell, yes, mine is a kind of sour smell, like those silicone glues. Forgot to complain. Normally I wind down the window and turn on the fan before using the air cond.
Currently, I still have some noise, seems to be from the glove box. When I open the glove box, the. noise disappears but the vibration noise of the glove box latch appears

Congrats to those who just got their car. Im still waiting for it to come which they say tmr is the day they capture in system n dunno when is the day i could collect the car. Btw, there's few question i came across that is question back by my friend :

1) Is Prius C a CBU car from Japan? ( He said can be seen on AP)
2) Prius C has a spare tyre but Honda Jazz has a tyre repair kit which is much more high tech rather than changing tyres which is so tiring and traditional. So what u think? ** I was thinking if is a CBU from Japan then should have some better tech like Honda Jazz do. Jazz is CBU from Japan.
*
Please tell your friend that Question 2 contains errors, as quoted by others. I think probably those fellas asked you that question had been fooled by Jazz hybrid SA trying to justify a car without a spare tyre. High tech? shakehead.gif That's a lame excuse.

QUOTE(KeLtiC80 @ Nov 28 2012, 12:44 AM)
1) Prius C is CBU from Japan - need to keep copy of it with car reg incase you want to sell it in the future
2) Is the repair kit reliable? can it fix all tyre failure conditions?...eg tyre burst?
3) IF you;re a guy and changing a car tyre the traditional way is tiring for you - shame on you? hit the gym more /get more practice or you have been changing tyres the wrong way?... biggrin.gif
*
QUOTE(aragongon @ Nov 28 2012, 01:52 AM)
Maybe you didn't change tyre that often! Simple question: how do you find the hole? Skilled tyre specialist also need to put it into the water and check.

The movement you take down the tyre to look for hole, you are already half way replacing a spare tyre.

And normally you will have tyre problem at the worst situation eg. raining + night + no road lamp + highway etc. Coz stock tyre - Bridgestone Potenza re080 is a good tyre and won't get hole at road if nothing happened (Toyota SC quote RM270++ per piece).

Tyre repair kit by the way no very high tech tool. It is sold at Tesco also.

Lastly it is a CBU unit and 105% tax free written on my PC kastam form.
*
QUOTE(wankf @ Nov 28 2012, 10:16 AM)
Question is what kind of tyre repair kit they provided in HJ. A bottle of sealant and an electric compressor or just a normal tyre repair kit that most tyre shop are using. The problem with the sealant is that it won't work for larger leaks, and the glue leaves the tyre beyond repairsweat.gif

The manufacturers' main consideration is, of course, the bottom line is even those little donut wheels cost up to RM300+. A repair kit, on the other hand, costs about or less then RM100. Do yourself a favour and check the arrangements in your car's boot. That way, when you next get a flat, at least you won't be surprised.  nod.gif

Guys , plan to get a PC , what is the current best offer for Pc year end car ? My Sa offer 7k . For those who own PC , do you having difficulty to overtake Car on highway ? How's the power for range from 80 -120km ? Does it take long time to climb to reach that speed ? Understand it is hybrid , just hope it wont be worst than my current drive myvi 1.3 auto. I've test drive the PC , but only in those residential road. NO chance test it on highway . Appreciate for you guys feedback.
*
There is no difficulty in overtaking cars, be it on a highway or normal road. And you do not feel speeding at 120 kmph, except wind noise is obvious (but acceptable) because background engine noise is low relatively compared to petrol cars @ 120 kmph. Hybrid does not mean compromised performance. Acceleration is smooth and good, even when you accelerate from cruising speed of 100 kmph onwards. Myvi 1.3 or even 1.5 no fight, can even hear those myvis engine working very hard to keep the pace at high speed.

The only problem when you try to accelerate is you will see your FC decreasing.

Do you guys ever try accelerate in highway from 100 to 170km/h? (Was bored driving, so just for fun try over take other cars & test the performance) It just take less then 10sec to reach 170km/h, & I notice the battery bar from 80% drop to 50%, never see the battery level will drop while using engine(only charging). Seem the motor really assist when we attempt hard acceleration.

Though that will reduce the FC, but still FC better than, say civic, accelerates 100-170 kmph whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif
