looks like got 2 models of GSM with LTE (A1428* & A1429* - different is the LTE bands based on tech specs), wonder will SG set model be the same as Malaysia. we can try cut n shave sim, cannot work just get replacement and use back the old phone while waiting for actual nano sim. replacement sim/microsim are inexpensive. if our local telco's roll out LTE we dont want to miss the boat.

http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/ - SG is getting GSM A1429 model and it has lte band 3 (1800Mhz). now just try luck with nano sim, worst case scenario, its a glorified iPod touch until local telcos release.

QUOTE(Orpheus1120 @ Sep 15 2012, 11:14 PM) Glesecke & Devrient is the designer for the nano sim, of course they will say cannot cut what. They earn royalties with each nano sim sold. Notice the emphasis of the reason they made in the article regarding the difference in thickness. Moreover if a nano to micro sim adapter allows a nano sim to work in a micro-sim phone, that essentially mean the nano sim chip can work as a mico sim as long as contact point of the sim is placed properly. I'm quite positive about the prospect. i am with you. does not look difficult at all. will try it out too, in fact my thoughts is to get a few other microsim's to test first before actually working on the one you want to use.

QUOTE(Orpheus1120 @ Sep 15 2012, 11:32 PM) I think the best sim card to use is an actual micro sim card, as it has the modern smaller chip. Don't use a DIY micro sim because it may not have the smaller chip as genuine micro sims do. If you do, you may have to cut into the chip to make it smaller. Even if you are successful in modding, it doesn't mean it will work in the iPhone 5, but I'm very hopeful. So no harm practice your cutting skill with other sim cards first. Yes I am aware, digital caliper is key. I am also hopeful it will work else wait for the nano sim to be release locally.
