Not talking about speed, but innovation.  In the past, there's cloud storage, SIRI, FaceTime, etc.  This time, it's... LTE and earpods.
*
bro to be honest i think apple has done quite some innovation here. just that all these innovation cannot be 'seen' by normal everyday consumers.

for example, the phone is now thinner, lighter and has a bigger screen. bigger screen and faster processor wud need more power to run, hence bigger battery, but apple has done the exact opposite by making it thinner and lighter. i kinda call that innovation.

i know what you mean when you say that from the outside, it aint much different from the previous generation, but i think if you look into the details, apple did make a leap, although it might be a small one.

all that being said, i think its not as impressive the launch of the iP5, considering its september now, and all the competitors have already launched their phones in the summer. perhaps the general consumer would be more impressed if this was launched first.

But I'm not talking about features, I'm disappointed solely on the 16:9 aspect ratio and its aesthetics.

This has nothing to do with marketing.

ps: I'm a dumb user who has a IP4 who wanted to stay with iOS and was looking forward towards a more useable screen due to deteriorating eyesight.
*
yeah im quite disappointed at the aesthetic when i first read on the rumours. was hoping the end product that will be released wont look like that, but it did.

either way, i have decided to upgrade from my almost 2 years iP4. already placed a pre-order for the iP5. will b picking up at the apple store on the 21st. hopefully it wont be too much disappointed when i do hold it in my hands.

where are u from and where did u pre-order iphone 5?
*
currently studying in australia.
didnt have to camp/line up to pre order it. did it on the phone with vodafone. they did sent me a text saying a confirm a unit of the iP5. i ordered the black iP5 64gb. planning to use it for awhile.

but after reading that there were 2mil pre orders and it exceeded the stock they have, im abit worried i wont be getting mine. we'll see in a few days.

now just thinking where in the world to find screen protectors lol.

Sorry to disappoint u, i'm an iPhone 4S user... picking up my brand new iPhone 5 WITH nano SIM and 4G LTE networks to use on first day.  tongue.gif
My point is... for some of u... an un-usable iPhone 5 is better than no iPhone 5. I see some of u even willing to spend extra money to travel overseas or order overseas when u know u can't use it in your country yet. Why not wait? Is there value in staring at a SIM-less iPhone?  I fail to see your logic. It's like buying a BMW with no key (nano SIM) and no highway (LTE), and then telling your neighbour how u are one of the first to own the car, but need to park it in driveway for two more months.
*
yo bro. take a chill pill. does it hurt you in any way if people here really does decide to do that? dont have to come off so harsh about your opinion bro. everyone's entitled to their own, and what they decide to do.

Is it worth it to change from 4s to 5 when the contract is still on hand ? hmm.gif
*
bro i dont think it wud be a worthy upgrade from the 4s, unless you REALLY need that extra screen space. one of the forumer did mentioned that the LTE/4g will not be available in msia for awhile, hence you might wanna hold back upgrading until the connection speed is available, making it more reason to upgrade besides just a faster processor + bigger screen.

QUOTE(sharulzzz @ Sep 18 2012, 02:00 PM)
imho, this weekend will be crucial
as a lot of people will get to use the phone and write review
if 9 out of 10 say it is a good phone to own then it will be big big hit
if only 3 out of 10 feel satisfy with the phone
then it would be easy to get the phone already

the current trend is ..people anticipate it to be a good phone.
but you dunno how good it is until you have a phone to play with.

for me, i think this phone will just hot for 2 weeks then it will become cool as this is not something have WOW factor there , just another 4S phone.
*
true what you said about this weekend being crucial as ppl wud have the chance to review the phone, and have it hands on. but with that said, apple has already sold 2mil units.
and not to look down on any other brands, but apple does have a way to infecting ppl in a way that makes them want the product regardless of they fare with phones from their competing brands. this cud have be influenced by the link it has to other apple products ie. mirror playing function etc.

so i dare say that regardless of how the reviews turn out to be, if consumers have a decent first impression of the phone, and is satisfied with the function, they wud purchase the iP5.

QUOTE(idoblu @ Sep 18 2012, 02:00 PM)
This is what U-Mobile have to say (but treat it like an SOP reply).
I was at their Sunway Pyramid outlet, asked them about microsim card - they say they dont have microsim but will cut their normal sim to microsim. I am thinking if they do not even have actual microsim after all these years, they will take forever to get nanosim  sad.gif

It's probably because the main reason ppl choose iPhone is bcos of iOS and AppStore. But review still review. Sure have good and bad. U can expect a godlike product...
*
yeah iOS and AppStore is a major selling point. i agree that reviews wud be good, what i meant is that it would cater for people who are still in doubt of whether or not to purchase the phone. for people that have already decided (due to various reasons), the review wudnt really effect their decision whether to get the phone or not.

QUOTE(sang_kanchil @ Sep 18 2012, 06:16 PM)
That's the power of ios that droidfags always fail to understand.
It's not just abt the hardware, quad-core, 2GB RAM, 5" screen but the overall user experience.
Here iPhone excels over all.
*
i agree!
users of other platforms (fanboys) sometimes fail to understand that apple performs better in user interface and responsiveness, altho what is written on paper (specification) sometimes does not represent that.

QUOTE(hewegia @ Sep 19 2012, 01:29 PM)
Review from "Pocket-Lint"

"Ditching the glass back and reducing the thickness of the glass panel on the front has affected the design of the metal band around the edge of the iPhone. It is now chamfered and while that looks pretty, we've already noticed that on the black model the edge has started to wear, revealing the shiny silver aluminium metal underneath the "slate" coloured coating and, indeed, we've witnessed it on two separate models, ruling out a fluke manufacturing error.

These small scuffs will catch the light and make the phone look visibly worn. We suspect that it won't be as noticeable on the white model because the metal edging is silver, so that's worth bearing in mind when you come to order your colour choice."

white will be the choice now?

been using the iPhone 5 for about 2 days now. battery is an issue for me. its kinda similar, if not worst than my iPhone 4. i dont know whether its the way my settings are. bcos i just totally synced everything into the iPhone 5. yes it is faster etc, but the battery is really disappointing. but at the end of the day, not sure whether its my settings or the phone's battery itself. pfft.
