So many ip5 threads in this iphone forum - hope the MODS will do a cleanup of others now that the official phone is released
In Singapore, the iPhone 5 will be available without contract for a suggested retail price of S$948 (US$772) for the 16GB model, S$1,088 (US$886) for the 32GB model and S$1,238 (US$1,008) for the 64GB model.

Those thinking to get it first in Spore, think twice as Msia telcos DO NOT support nano sim yet. So if you buy it use it only as a wifi only phone until our local telcos has such a nano sim available

Theoretically it can be cut but depends again largely on how the simcard connectors are designed ; if same as present micro sim than is not an issue
I will know it when I get mine on 6 Oct ( my daughter is buying it for me from UK)

can't be probably..
this had became their marketing gimmick dy.. not providing superb major improvement on a new gen product..

consumer will still buys tongue.gif

Every manufacturer does that - improvements are always in small increments. Look for the iphone 5S or iphone 6 for the next major improvement

Note no good if you used to iPhone smoothness. I only used Note, the first week still ok. Second week started to lag and random shut down. Third week, decide to flash to other rom. Fourth week, sell it out and lazy to catchup with custom rom. My iPhone 4S serve me well till now  smile.gif
*
My experience completely different. Dump the ip4s after only 3 weeks. Have been using my Note since Nov 2011 till now n extremely happy with it
Guess different users different needs
Does not mean is not good for you is not good for others

Does that mean it only work for some carriers only? Or it means it works for all carriers but not on some locations in sg?
*
As long as the carriers support 1800 MHz it will work but do not expect full 4g service due to users congestion. It'd be ideal if ip5 supports 2600 mhz but it doesn't. i guess So we are getting a half baked 4g capability only
The article has pointed out only certain regions are covered only for certain telco

Get from retail online store less 17% vat as is considered export . They will delivered to msia. Most you pay rm100 sirim permit up to 3 sets imported in. No other taxes or duties. If you buy from apple store delivered to uk address must pay the 17% tax which is included in the £529

Based on this 2010 survey in msian only 0.48% of population uses iphone while spore is 8.3%. Spore ranks 11 while msian is 26 in Asia
To apple msian is really small market
http://asiancorrespondent.com/37156/iphone...ge-across-asia/
In another survey in msia only 28% uses iphone while 38% uses android while rest is other os
http://www.today-malaysia.com/battle-of-an...nfographic/513/
So don't think we are great iphone users
So Apple will not treat us better

Nano Sim wont be a problem since we can cut the sim with proper tool.
Will try to see if it works once I get my hands on it.

Read several posts back few links on how to do it
Main difficulty is on how to reduce the thickness only

Iphone have a tendency to overwhelm when you see it in the flash for the first time and hold it in your hands. People can say everything they want : underwhelm , nothing special, no innovation bla bla bla but when you go to the launching and actually have the phone to play with, you will be sold in a second.
*
Depend on user ; I have used the first iphone till latest iphone 4s still not impressed. Longest i have was iphone 3GS about 6 months , the iphone 4s i dump it within 3 weeks
So it boils down to user preference
Yes i agree its UI smoothness is great but that is not the only important aspect of the phone
BTW I am also getting it. I always believe in reviewing stuffs myself and do not just listenn to others or read a lot of the bias reviews ( including androids too)

I was at Samsung showroom just now (Mid Valley). The Indian SA (really from India wan) was telling me that the S3 is now on ICS and can upgrade to Jellybean. Just take to Service Centre...bla bla bla....wait a minute! I said, you mean I cannot update it over the air? He says no, must take it to someone.....LOL

I think if non-techie hear this also pening already. I consider myself techie also I pening to hear this.... I pay and bought something, now I must go pay someone to do something else to it....what a joke
*
That Indian sa obviously know nuts how to upgrade
Not necessary to send to service center if you know how to use a pc. Just connect use kies or use odin flash yourself

Hear!
Use to be a person who hack, flash, mod, overclock, tweak, optimised every possible way on every device I brought (NexusOne, BB, Playbook even HP Touchpad) Now? My Nexus 7 still stock rom, I just jb my iPhone 4S to enable push for Sparrow mail (For work). New iPad still stock rom..
No time and mood now to do such things when time is better to use for other more lucrative thing like work that generate income. biggrin.gif

Maybe those Android user should put less effort on mod, rom, tweak and put more effort to generate more income. Then U got more money to spend on iOS? tongue.gif Just saying..
*
Not everyone wants to earn more money like you
Many are just hobbyist n like to tinker with it
If you spend too much time tinkering at expense of earning an income than is definitely wrong

Even iPhone n ipad you need connect with pc n use iTunes to update your firmware
And it is free even if you send in service center to upgrade firmware for both Samsung n apple products

Based on this Msian LTE is 2600 Mhz but iphone 5 will only work on 1800 Mhz LTE spectrum
So does this mean we still get only 3G and the 4G is not useable - any experts care to clarify this ?

Sorry to disappoint u, i'm an iPhone 4S user... picking up my brand new iPhone 5 WITH nano SIM and 4G LTE networks to use on first day.  tongue.gif
My point is... for some of u... an un-usable iPhone 5 is better than no iPhone 5. I see some of u even willing to spend extra money to travel overseas or order overseas when u know u can't use it in your country yet. Why not wait? Is there value in staring at a SIM-less iPhone?  I fail to see your logic. It's like buying a BMW with no key (nano SIM) and no highway (LTE), and then telling your neighbour how u are one of the first to own the car, but need to park it in driveway for two more months.
*
Such users will just use it as an ipod lah n uses its wireless features instead while waiting for local issued nano sim
Actually it is their choice if they so wish

the question on LTE is not the telco readiness, but more towards when MCMC announcing who gets the license for LTE. Major telco have already tested LTE since the beginning of the year
*
Dont expect too much from Msian LTE which is based on 2600 Mhz while the iphone 5 works only on 1800 Mhz. So what does this means - you won't get any 4G lah !! Stick to 3g and some guy has quoted 3.5 G maybe ??
Spore at least slight better as 2 telcos has both 1800 n 2600 Mhz spectrum but than limited to certain areas only

Summarised CNet review of spore situation
http://asia.cnet.com/blogs/iphone-5-may-no...re-62218716.htm

The iPhone 5 may not support Singapore's new 4G networks perfectly, while handsets from competitors Samsung and HTC will, based partly on a report from Digital Life, Singapore's weekly tech digest.

4G LTE sounds great but we have a big problem of fragmentation. There's no standard frequency band for LTE network--they differ from one country to another. Here's a list of the various networks around the world. You can also check CNET's LTE FAQ.

Reportedly, the iPhone 5 will support only the 1,800MHz band. Since SingTel and M1 are using both 1,800MHz and 2,600MHz bands to provide coverage in Singapore, the iPhone may not get the LTE signal in areas where the 2,600MHz band is being used. Competing handsets like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S III LTE and HTC One XL will support both frequency bands.

Consider all this before buying an LTE phone. I'm looking forward to LTE for it signals a relief from the terrible congestion we have for 3G data today. So I'd be shattered if my handset didn't have full 4G coverage even after paying about a thousand bucks for it.

Buy in spore at listed price add another 7% gst.
This 7% can only claim when you leave spore by AIR not by road

but ppl always reply "u can afford something but u cant even afford a little percent from ur purchase" That is totally a nonsense reply

Is not nonsense reply. Plain logical I would say
Only cheapskate will want stuffs free. It is not even 1% of phone price. Most owners will spend up to 10x more to buy sp n cases for it
Seriously don't buy iPhone if you think rm25 is rm250
And is cheaper than spore sim card changes dollar for dollar
