For casual snapshots in Auto mode without fiddling with any of the advanced settings ie. taking out the phone from the pocket, switch on the camera function and start snapping pictures, is the Pureview 808 a significant improvement over the N8 in areas of accuracy, detail, colour and low light performance?

In bright sunny conditions, the N8 takes great pictures. Only in low light conditions the N8 fails by producing pictures with grainy quality. In sunny bright conditions, is the difference between the Pureview 808 and N8 big or small? I guess small? In low light conditions, will the difference be significant or at least appreciable?

Would appreciate thoughts from those who own or have compared both. Thanks.

In not related to title, i really wish 808 have OIS as in L920 D:

bro, based on my experience with N8 about 1 year and half is that N8 is very easy to use. You have like what, ISO / EV / WB / Contrast just like that and you are ready to shoot with any angles that you wanted. It will produce one of the most finest quality comparing to any camera phone (except 808) without a problem, inshaAllah!

but with 808 PV, it is a bit pain on the ass to snap out pix with it plus the annoying ISO, banding issue that was unfixed until now. with 808 PV, you cannot pull out angle much, it will produce weird kind of picture (due to its 26mm wide angle which I think was too wide, should have stayed with 28mm instead). but if someone was keen with photography, I think they would truly love how 808 PV works with just the correct settings.

It is hardware. not that I am against wider angle but at least they could have tweak it to make it a little bit more natural pictures rather than producing a balloon/oval/stretched pictures

not really, i think the problem started half year back, where i need to keep restart the cam or phone to get the camera working..

We are actually talking about the issues with the phone that happened 1 year after the owner bought it.

For a person who owned and still owns both the n8 and the 808 pureview, i find the 808 miles above of improvement over the n8.

The interface is easy to use and camera is much more responsive(eg, launching camera app with press of shutter button even at lock screen, having dedicated "green and red" buttons to easily close apps).

As for the picture quality, we don't have to go there lol

time to try Nokia Lumia 920 it low light this monster blows those two away.

True but I still love the shutter speed/ISO setting and angle that N8 produced, 808 just sometimes not that pleasing in low light handling (no, not about the quality, how the phone handles the low light)

banding issues and ISO is my biggest problem here, anything else 808 is just superb but like I said, anyone can use N8 but not anyone can use 808.. None of my friends can't handle 808 very well even I CAN'T HANDLE IT

can you give me some example situation you cant use 808 but can with n8..

When snapping pictures with weird angle (or killer angle, at least I named it that way)
N8 clearly wins because of its 28mm, even Galaxy S II can't do a killer angle like N8 could do!

yep, close-up also but I like how the 808 control mechanism over macro shots,
just touch and focus, but don't take at any weird angle, if you still wanted that then zoom a bit so the picture that you want to snap doesn't look so stretchy to the edge (26mm to wide and fish-eyed)

The benefit n8 over 808 is because I can control how the phone focus thats how I take amazing shots on 808 u cant it keep auto focus. Dont believe me try take a dragonfly like my pic with your 808 and u will understand

808 pureview win in more detail, but nokia camera got 1 1 weakness, when light explore level in room very bad, blur!

snapping in a room is a no go for nokia.. somehow i like Iphone white balance more (snapping in room level of course) but I do recall some of nokia phones snap well in those conditions also and produced less flare..

they fixed that issue on the Nokia Lumia 920. Try it to shock your life. ISO 100 in low light look like day

I do have to agree that 808 camera is harder to handle compared to n8's camera...

even the zooms are way different and I gotta read the manual guide to understand how to zoom...

n8 zoom - digital zoom ( crop image, quality drop )
n808 zoom - feel like optical zoom ( no croping, still good quality )

nokia n8 is a decent camera phone (well it was 2 years plus ago, wasn't it?) had it for 2 years and I'm happy with its performance. the only thing i don't like was its Symbian Belle other than that its a good phone

808 better, thats for sure coz it is the last symbian phone.

L1020 lot worth, more flexible control almost could shoot at any lighting conditions. But if we were talking about the price, I'd say buying 808PV would never be a regret

Currently im using both of it.

OS : Happy with my Anna in my N8 more than 808.
Basic Phone Usage : 808
Camera : Of course 808. But if preferred just point and shoot, N8.

still no smartphone can beat the 808 Pureview 41MP camera! I'm still using it as my point n shoot camera when travelling!
