A question to clarify.

My cousin sister was just gotten a job in s'pore (company 1), and she also obtained the EP approval already to commence job in Feb 2013.
However, she was just awarded another employment contract by company 2 (which has better prospect of course).

Accordingly, she needs to ask comp 1 to cancel the EP first before Comp 2 can submit the EP application on her behalf. Is that true?
During my time, they are free to submit the EP application for approval. Only when come to issuance of EP, then comp 1 has to cancel it before comp 2 to apply for EP issuance.

There is a potential risk though if she rejects comp 1 ; while comp 2 failed to obtained the EP. (which I think quite impossible since comp 2 more establish).

There is also a possibility that MOM will reject second company EP application, it is nothing to do with the company but the applicant, which is your cousin sister.

they are right. company 1 needs to cancel their EP first since its already approved before company 2 able to submit an application for your cousin.

Yes I heard though. But on what basis? The applicant herself? What's wrong with the applicant that cause MOM reject 2nd EP, given that she will apply using the same qualifications which had been approved previously.

Penalized but her action? Come on. I though it is on the merit basis? In fact, I myself also experienced the same previously. But that time, 2nd company can just submit the application without the need of requesting 1st company to withdraw the EP.

MOM has just clarified to her that the approval is assessed independent from previous application. If they seriously want to penalize applicant, then they should have made this clearer. Or else it is not convincing.

p/s EP with first company not issued yet. But I guess she has to take her own risk. Just went to the office and clarify the issue on her behalf, it seems positive and nothing to prevent / penalize her to do so. Maybe Joshua you can share with us your point?

As far as I know, 1st company would need to cancel the EP, then only 2nd company can apply for the EP application. But not sure if this applies to your cousin sister since she has yet to collect her EP.

There have been cases that applicant been rejected, just like your cousin sister situation. Nothing to do about her merit on this case, but MOM has approved for the 1st company, she yet to come into Singapore and now switching another company so soon, MOM will take consideration that the applicant is not 'sincere' enough in working in Singapore. Of course, MOM would not provide you this reason. I am telling you there is a possibility they may just reject the second application.

MOM has been rejecting/ban for new and renewal applicant for native Sabah & Sarawakian. But MOM did not mentioned that it does not exist in their policy, they simply just mention they continue to approve the work permits of workers from Sabah and Sarawak who are found to be eligible and suitable to work in Singapore.

Anyway, can just appeal if got rejected.

Yes, that is the policy NOW. If she has collected the EP (issuance of EP), then second company can submit the EP application.

Thanks for your clarification. But MoM should be "smart" enough to know why the applicant switch the company what... obviously the second offer is better and came in much later. For me, it is still better than you ask the first company to pay for your EP and resign after like few months. It is weird though to justify the "sincerity" of this person in this sense.

p/s Just a side note that she wants to change the company only, not the job position of what she applying for.

Of course MOM knew why the applicant switch the company, pretty quite common sense. They can be strict if they want to and can really filter only those really good so-called FT. biggrin.gif

It is almost the same as employer going through resume. Why keep on change job is a question will be asked.

What to do, we are 外劳 (foreign worker) who come to SG for work. sad.gif

Nope. She won't be banned forever unless she has criminal record. Just need to appeal with valid reason.

Hi guys, if I want to make calls back to Msia, what's the best choice? Skype credit or typical mobile line?

And btw, have anyone been issued a WP/SP/EP with only one year validity? What's probably the reason?

Are you on postpaid or prepaid?

If prepaid, just key in 019 (singtel), 018(starhub) infront of the number for free IDD call, you will be charge on the normal local rate only. No idea what is M1 IDD call number.
EG: 0196012xxxxxxx / 0186012xxxxxxx

If postpaid, request to activate the IDD call at monthly $5 subscription fee.

Is the one you are using. You can either use access card (if you apply for one) or the passport.

Anyway, the autogate for the local and PR, can be used by the normal access card or passport. It is just dedicated for the local & PR, but who cares?
