Hi guys I've got a question about "connections" in the Auditing industry.

How exactly does "connections" help you in gaining entry into the company? I mean, unless your connection works in HR dept the influence should be limited no? I know existing employees can give a recommendation or referral to HR but i'm just curious on how it works. If you are recommended does it mean they bypass stages in the interview process or just generally more inclined to hiring you?

Its difficult getting into a good company in Singapore without a referral unless you're the creme of the crop in Malaysia
