capped at 14 days a year, these are entitlement, paid leave. on the 15th days - it's considered as UNPAID LEAVE and not unpaid medical leave.

but then again who would retain a service of someone who takes full 14 days of medical leave a year?
*
MC is not an entitlement, the entitlement is the pay you'll get when you on MC

for the 30 days, the company have to grant the leave for each valid MC, then you will use your annual leave even with valid MC.

Once you finish all your entitled leave, you have to "apply" for unpaid leave which the company have to rights to reject.
*
your statement doesn't reflect all the companies in Sg

If you want to play words then ok, it is possible for you to obtain 365days/year MC from doctor.
the rest of us are talking about MC in the context of company MC policies and hence the limit for entitlement.

Since when all the companies in Sg have the same benefits? So my statement are true for gov agencies and some private companies.

Even your company accept unlimited MCs that doesn't reflect all the companies in Sg either.
*
i did not play with the words, it's already there. Only some ppl fail to interprets it.

and never in my post did i use the word 'company', not part of my discussion anyway. It was your post that you use the term 'the company'.

Hi guys, if I want to make calls back to Msia, what's the best choice? Skype credit or typical mobile line?

And btw, have anyone been issued a WP/SP/EP with only one year validity? What's probably the reason?
*
no many people knew this but you could actually call skype local calling centre in Singapore and from there they will route using ivoip to your desire landline number. in short, means u can Skype call using normal land phone to another land phone. rate is cheap too. I'm using that by the way.

Dear Sifus,

Anybody here working in Loyang area? Loyang Cresent to be precise. Got an offer from OnG company there with salary of SGD 7.2k but I'm not sure about the accommodation around the area. Seems like they jack up the rental there compared to other part of Singapore. Another thing, is the offer on the high side or lower side as I'm also got around the same figure here in Malaysia.
*
I couldn't recall there's an OnG company at Loyang. Mostly at Jurong area or at Jurong Island.

Confirm ?
Bcz as i read through MOM page
There written worl permit cannot drive unless ur job scope is related to driving lk lorry driver, dispatch etc
*
I think that's true. Nothing really regulates you from driving local cars other that a Sg driving license. The work permit kind of regulations is more towards foreign registered car. You can't drive a foreign vehicle if you are a resident of Singapore.

A friend once gave me some advice b4 I leave for Sg. He said : Do not treat your M'sia friends who are working in Sg the same way you treat Singaporeans.

Is there really such a big gap between Malaysians and Singaporeans? Is it true that Malaysians will always have a gap with Singaporeans, no matter what? Have anyone met any Singaporeans that do not inherit their darker side of the Singaporean character?
*
yeah. your friend is right. you should not doubt him since he's your friend. I once saw a Singaporean bleeds, blood come out is green color one. We Malaysian bleeds red.

Current situation: 2nd yr degree major Finance from a local reputable private U, starts with letter T,  interning in EY (though job-scope not finance-related) till sem starts, 2nd upper class grades, strong coco back in high school.
*
There is no such reputable private U that you were mentioning, in Malaysia. In fact, there isn't even a decent one. 2nd Upper Class grades could get you into some small MNC I guess.

Thank you yhoong12, lester1987, mackiddo, and seantang for the inputs.

ROFL to my own ignorance about reputable U part, appreciated it for waking me up.  biggrin.gif

If that is the case, could I at least make my resume shines through (with solid achievement of course)? Cause having my resume instant-dump into the paper shredder just because of not being from UM is kinda... O_O

And is there such a thing as minimum wage for degree holder? Like $2.2k?
*
a single minimum wage, degree or not degree is to protect workers, especially lowly educate workers from being exploit by the employers. I'm sure you are smart enough from being exploit by the employer(s) nod.gif

Hi guys, want to ask if it is okay if I apply for PR when still in probation period? (meaning join in less than 3 months =,=)
*
of coz it's ok. The odds of getting the PR is probably slightly better than striking TOTO 1st price.

this kinda thing is pretty common in Malaysia. Have to be extra careful, crime rate are increasing. I normally just throw all my stuff into my backpack.

Hi guys,

Just checking if my passport expire in 10 July 2013, and today is 13 January, which means my passport expiry is less than 6 months, am I still able to travel to Singapore thru JB custom?

Many thanks.
*
the requirement is minimum 6 months validity. You could try your luck though. I'm sure some have managed to passed thru and some have been turned back.

the lowest so far i've seen is S$299 with $50 Choice/Cold Storage vouchers rebate @ COURTS. I didn't recall it selling at NTUC. Another brand is Fumiyama, retailing at around S$200.

any of you owned credit card from Sg?
i thinking of having one, since it is so difficult to purchase online without having credit card.
which bank offer the best? any particular type of credit card u can recommend?
of course my aim is to get then one with very low registration n anual fees- or even waiver!
generous in reward/points and can get more discount in many places...well this one optional coz my aim is for online purchasing, not for shopping around..
what is the cons part of having credit card in Sg? e.g. fees? high interest?? any stict TnC for anual income and foreigner??
....hopefully i get sincere answer, not from credit card sales that might roaming around....
*
I know in Malaysia there's one cc company (citibank?) that issue out virtual card number for the sole purpose of online transaction. You can generate a pair of credit card number just for your one purchase and then void it after that. A excellent way to prevent fraud. But now that's actually a better protection via PayPal. I don't think there any cc that have the advantage over the other in term on online purchases benefits.
