My cousin,in his late 20's intend to board KTM intercity train from KL-Singapore for 2 job interviews(scheduled at 3rd Jan 2013) at one of the leading Law Firm in Singapore.
At 11pm,announcement from KTM."Train rescheduled to 11:15pm"

Without nothing to lose and plenty of time left,he walked to KTMB ticket selling counter located at Level 2.He put his sling bag on one of the waiting bench chair and look up at train arrival&departure time table just opposite the counter.As when he turned back,his sling bag is now missing out of no where!The whole incident took less than 25 sec.
Police report had been made.

What's inside the bag?
-M'sia International passport(worth RM15-20K,syndicate's market price)
-All original certificates(priceless)
-Mobile phone(less than RM1000)
-pendrive with personal info on it(priceless)
-clothes(RM150-RM200)
-anti-radiation glasses(less than RM20)
-Sg's smrt card with value(SGD20)

-2 job interviews had gone(potentially priceless)
Moral of the story
`never leave your belongings out of your eyesight,not even a split second.
`try to put your ipad,tablet inside your bigger clothes luggage and not to use it,not to draw attention from the others.As scum thinks that it is filled with clothes only,less attractive and heavier to hand carry for them.
`attire should be as casual as possible.
`when someone staring at you,just be prepared and alert all the times.
`from him,and from my own limited knowledge.Most of the time cctv inside the building is non-operational.Even there were fully functional,too many blind spots to dodge from being capture.
If you do not take care on your own,no one would.Once it happened,the consequences that came after might be too hefty or unbearable for some time.

Is it easy to get an engineering job in singapore? I'm considering applying there but it must be tough since lots of malaysians AND singaporeans are competing for jobs. But man the pay, it pays.

Firstly I don't think SG has the infrastructure in place to cope with 7 million people.
Secondly, PAP knows the general, very strong ill feeling of Singaporeans towards foreigners. The Punggol by-election is a wake up call for them.
Thridly Singapore cannot create that many jobs for both foreigners and singaporeans. And if that happens, the ill feelings of Singaporeans towards foreigners will be intensified

Half the taikors posting here like seantang, mackiddo, keelim, mercury are elites earning 15-25k+++ monthly. Don't assume that Malaysians are universally low paid in SG because of your ONE friend. Although I understand how you feel cos I am low paid bank clerk as well.

I'm beginning to see some belt tightening happening in the chemicals/polymers industry... mainly expenditure control for now, like travel restrictions, taking back company mobile phones etc. That's usually a precursor to retrenchments later on unless something picks up in the economy.

Yes. I don't think PR has expiry date, as long as you stay in SG, forever, and don't go out for holiday or work. REP allow  you to travel out and keep the PR only.

Call ICA, or don't bother. They never ask about the paper so far. You get to reprint new REP next time you change your passport and update in the website.

funny coz i got no problem printing and saving end of last year. If you already have the hardcopy then it's fine

you are supposed to carry the REP with you when you exit/entry Singapore.

I spent RM500 to book last minute ticket to come SG interview from penang.
Even take unpaid leave to come interview.
1 month later, phfff, here I am. Earning same figure as i earn in Msia.
Only in SGD rather than RM.
