Preliminary observations I got from the
(a)35Summilux+A7R vs (b)RX1R+35F2 shows that (a) has more of that "3D pop" and smoother bokeh, but (b) has those uniform sharpness corner to corner and that nice "grain" look that I prefer compared to the noise on (a). (a) has details but comes with the price of not so nice looking "noise", very coarse looking noise. (b) still has noise, but the noise is in the form of "grainy look" that I like. (a) still prone to CA, (b) is virtually free. If you do a lot of portrait on 35mm, I prefer (a)'s look than (b), the micro-contrast and 3D contrast is very revealing, almost in-your-face in fact. If you do landscape, I prefer (b) over (a) for that corner to corner sharpness. (a) is still king in lowlight (no-brainer there), and when push comes to shove and I know that I had to go into situations where I need to push it wide open, I still go for (a). *i hate flash btw* Different rendering for different looks. Don't ask me to choose please. They're unique characteristically. |
