Hello everyone ! I am hopefully joining UUM this september. Btw I have some questions to you guys that are quite important for me.

1) I am not really comfortable to live in dorms sharing with lot of unknown people. Can I just rent a house/condo nearby UUM ? I just searched websites and it appears to be some variants for rent.

2) I've been to UUM several times to ask questions and bring my papers to register and the campus seems to be very big (which is very good, it green also). Bus services are very irregular. Can i just drive my own car to campus ?

I heard there are some issues to drive cars to campus which is understandable as they are trying to control traffic inside uni. But maybe if you pay some money , this question can be resolved or how ?

3) My source of income is closely related to internet. Is internet really good in there or not ? Actually if it's possible to live outside campus, it's not that important.

Thank you guys for answering my questions, I am joining undergraduate program and I am an international student.

Hi, what I stated here (#1 and #2) are rules for local malaysian students, I'm not too sure if it's really applicable to international students like you.

1) You can stay outside, but need to apply to the uni to stay outside. But I think, they won't allow that for 1st year students.

2) Apply car stickers, but the rules have been diperketatkan recently, again 1st year students get the short end of the stick normally tongue.gif They would consider if you're really active in uni activities and hold high positions in societies.

3) Internet speed is like shiat. Sometimes ok, most of the times like a snail.

Car stickers have always been a b!tch to get. Even in my days. You have to be superfarking active in extracurricular activities and you need to have a vast network with the powers-that-be (read: cronies, thanks BN!) to smoothen the process of obtaining vehicle stickers.

I am applying for Bachelor of Hospitality Management. From Russia , in academic affairs they said I am a first Russian student in UUM but have some Uzbeks also.

So, I can apply for broadband in UUM. Can I apply for TM modem ? I use it now in KL and speed is ok for me.
*
well for sure you're not the first Russian student in UUM's history. I had a Russian classmate before in Sea Transportation class.

In UUM's hostel, you can't use the TM wired broadband, you have to apply for wireless broadbands (the one using USB type) from Celcom/Maxis/Digi. I heard P1 sucks there.

Depends on your CGPA. I heard at least 3.6-3.7 required to compete with other applicants here. And last time circa 2011 there's requirement for at least B-grade in STPM's history subjects for applicants, not sure if they still have the requirement now.
