This is prolly asked alot and I have been reading around but still can't come up with a definitive choice. My budget is about 2.5 to 3k for an amp. I will mostly use it for movies and music. Should be about 50/50 distribution among the two........

Now I have auditioned a set of Onkyo 414 with Jamo 606 ( i think it's 606 ) but it doesn't sound any good at all. The bass was very bad till the point the speakers were crackling..like farting.......I am not sure if it's because the speakers were already abused which cause it to sound like this or it's the amps inability to drive it but I was not impressed.

Long story short...the Onkyo 616 seems like the choice to go but alot are saying that if I want sound quality, I should look at marantz or denon.......then again there's yamaha......the 673 caught my eye but why is the output per channel only at 90W???

What do you guys recommend? I understand that Onkyo is all about power but I am very picky with sound....I don't want all power with muffed out sounds......so.........recommendation guys??

I don't know what speakers to get yet. Jamo?? Any better ones?? Budget would be about 4k for a 5.0 system. Subwoofer can come later......
