Hi, really need some advise in buying new speaker.
60% music + 10% gaming + 30% movie
budget is around Rm300... so not sure whether 2.0 or 2.1 to go for..
Any recommendation?
Prefer smooth bass and vocal, not Boomy boomy type (way too old for that)
or if budget available, RM400-500 also can be consider depends on the speaker.

the ud100??
i would say a 2.0 is a better setup for you, since you lots of music, take a look at the swan hivi series
*
Yup, that is what i have in mind, a get of 2.0.
Since Edifier R2700 is quite a nice choice, but it is quite expensive to postage from penisular to sarawak where i live in. (estimate RM2xx postage).
Any other lower budget 2.0 ?

what is your bugget again??
basically a good 2.0 will cost you more then 500 is sad but thats the nature of it

Ok, since you put it that way, how is Swan D1080-IV if compare to R2700? for me, the D1080-IV get quite balance in vocal and Bass, Swan M200 have a much richer vocal and detail compare to D1080-IV (but the price is way out of my league, plus i think the vocal kind of overwhelm the bass, but that just personal opinion)..but i havent get the chance the try R2700.. not sure how is the taste of the speaker..

bassically the d1080 iv is more balance like what you say but is still coloured i heard the r2700 before but since is in a computer shop i cant really comment much but bassically with a bigger woofer you should get more low-ed end respond
*
yup, Anyway, D1080-Iv is a 2-way crossover speaker, and R2700 kind of advantage due to its 3-ways crossover. Really seldom see some home use 2.0 comes with 3-ways crossovers since the mid-range usually cost a lot more then the tweeter and mid-bass. Theoretically, R2700 should be a lot batter in vocal, but u know, its all about our own ear. So i think wont be rushing to choose between D1080-Iv and R2700. Will wait for the real audit first before making that decision. Just wonder am i able to find R2700 in east malaysia. sad.gif

Not sure =/ What's the difference?Price wise worth?

Usually 3-ways cost more then 2-ways and rarely seen on desktop 2.0 speaker. Theoretically, 3-ways speaker can get more fluence in terms of continuity of high frequency to low frequency due to the High-Mid speaker.

In other words, 2.0 speaker only got tweeter (for high frequency sound) and mid-bass unit ( for mid-low frequency sound). Which will exist a gap between the frequency which both the tweeter and mid-bass can't cover.

And that is the function for the other unit, the high-mid speaker (middle size), which can cover the frequency that the tweeter and the mid-bass can't.

But, the point is, high end 2.0 speaker even if 2-ways, can cover those frequency quite nicely and almost makes no difference with 3-ways. So just trust your ear and not those 2-ways, 3-ways. smile.gif

That just my little opinion, since myself also looking for a set of 2.0 speaker regardless of 3-ways or 2-ways. tongue.gif

Wow thanks for the information.Erm regarding this then I am okay regardless 2 or 3 ways  laugh.gif As long as it fits my budget, the sound and design is decent, then I'm happy  laugh.gif My budget is around 500 bucks including sound card smile.gif Erm prefer 2.1 speakers

Hmm...if Rm500 includes soundcard..For me, i might go for a Asus sound card (Xonar DGX) and Swan M10 if you want 2.1 speaker. If you like Boom Boom BOOM sound..just go for logitech then. But that is just my opinion, try to get suggestion from others smile.gif

Hmm...which model if Logitech?Any recommendation for Edifier?
*
If compare logitech and Edifier, for me sure won't go for Logitech, coz myself dislike the Boom Boom BOOM kind of sound. Edifier if your budget Rm500 includes speaker and soundcard, perhaps Edifier HCS2330 or maybe squeeze a little bit to get Edifier C3.

Hmm..I dont mind forking out extra 100 bucks for Edifier C3 if it's worth smile.gif So the sound card that u recommends is Asus Xonar DGX?
*
emm, if your budget is around that, i think Asus Xonar DGX should be a much batter choice compare Creative sound card in Rm100+ range. Coz in my opinion, Rm100+ Creative sound card just not worth it. Unless you go for the RM400+ Creative sound card. biggrin.gif

hi all (hope this is the right thread to ask :|)

I need your recommendation of 2.0 or 2.1 speaker system for my LCD tv in my living room. 100% for movies & music

currently I'm using Edifier C2+ (HCS2330), & plan to upgrade to Edifier C3.

Went to Lowyat today, the promoter give some advice for me not to upgrade to C3, because C2 has better bass/sub, C2 also give more total RMS (watt) than C3, the promoter make me confused, is it more watts is more powerful (in term of producing better sound)?

instead, he suggest me to upgrade to Edifier R2600, is R2600 good for watching movies?

btw, my budget is around RM500, any brand is welcome, please advice good 2.0 / 2.1 speaker system (with wireless remote) for LCD TV in my small living room

thanking all of you in advance smile.gif

If your main purpose is to put with LCD for movie, then i suggest you went for a 2.1 system instead of 2.0, 2.0 speaker is great if your main purpose is to put at living room and listen to music. My opinion is, usually movies need a sub-woofer unit to produce a deep strong bass for some of the scene and that is just what 2.0 speaker usually can't give you. Just not sure which 2.1 model should you go for.. hmm.gif

tongue.gif Hopefully got other Audio Fan can help you choose. Never audit C5 before. Since you got budget to go for C5, for me i will no doubt choose the Swan M50W, tongue.gif coz i don't need remote. With right sound card, the M50W will blown you away cool2.gif

Does anyone know where I can audition the HIVI M200MKIII around KL area?

That's easy, go to the market place and go to the music instrument part. Look for swan /hivi, I think most of the dealer locate at KL.

Hi guys, I am new to the audiophile section, eager to learn more from the seasoned veteran here. Currently I am using an old school Altec Lansing ACS 45.1 and it still sounds ok to me but I want to look for an upgrade. My music ranges from club, house, TOP 40s, Techno, Rock and dubstep which are a bit towards the mids and lows and I like the bass.
Here comes the part I guess: 40% music 40% gaming 20% video
Budget RM 800
2.1 speakers
PS: Does DAC really helps?
Any suggestions or questions will be welcomed. Thanks! smile.gif

My opinion, if ur budget is around 800, you got plenty of choice, if my interest is more toward bass and techno, I think edifier s530d or hivi m50w would be my 1st target. Audit both for ur self before you make any decision, trust ur own ear.
