Hi guys, I'm looking for a 5.1 speaker system for my mini home theatre setup, after much research, it came down to the following 2 model: Edifier S550 Logitech Z906 Initially I was pretty much convinced to get the Logitech Z5500, but unfortunately it's discontinued. So I'm kinda hanging around between Edifier S550 and Logitech Z906. FYI, I'm a bass head and will mainly use it to watch movie, second listen to music. So may I know which speaker would you recommend? And why? I have a friend who suggested that always choose wood as speaker material, is it true? Will the plastic material for Z906 effect the sound quality? How about short term and long term? Thank you in advance!

QUOTE(ktek @ Jul 28 2014, 07:28 AM) being thx certified, 906 can go loud. But its not recommended for big room. fibre optic port dolby & dts decoding ready, no need sound card s550 analog input, u will need a good sound card Thanks for the reply. I'm going to port directly from TV, I don't think there's any sound card in the TV. So in this case, I guess my best option between the 2 is Z906?

Thank you guys for giving valuable suggestion.

S760D indeed has better spec, but it's way exceeded my budget. In fact Z906 exceed my budget too, but I don't mind to chip in a hundred or two for better "future proof". I'll just follow ktek suggestion to go for Z906, the DTS decoding feature is a good point and deal maker for me.
