For mastering audio recordings, usually you have to look for studio monitors such as that Edifier Studio 7 (a.k.a Edifier R2700) shown earlier. Looking at your budget, you may want to consider Edifier Studio 8 (a.k.a Edifier R2800) which is a step up (and they are massive speakers as well)... icon_idea.gif

perghhhhhh. sooooo bigggggg. i need small one. i dont have much space. like krk rokit 5

QUOTE(lex @ Aug 13 2014, 04:13 PM)
Those are kinda small, plus they are one way passive speakers (single driver per channel) only. Thus not sure how well they sound, but do not expect great trebles (esepcially) nor nice bass from them (since it uses a single full range driver only). You will need an audio power amplifier as well...  hmm.gif

an audio interface is consider an audio power amp ahhh?

Then can go for Edifier Studio 7 (a.k.a Edifier R2700) which is a little smaller than Edifier Studio 8 (a.k.a Edifier R2800). Not sure how much space you have on your desk, for comparison that's a 22-inch widescreen LCD monitor (1680x1050 native resolution) in the picture above. Much smaller than that would be Edifier R1600T III (also an active studio monitor). Can check this review here: Gecid.com Ukrainian IT-portal: Edifier R1600TIII 2.0 Speaker System review and testing which can see that the frequency response is totally flat (which is a requirement for studio monitors). But if you are willing to spend, then you can go ahead and get KRK Rokit 5 speakers... hmm.gif

Nopes. To use those Aune X3 speakers, you will need an audio power amplifier such as Aune X2 amplifier. Have to beware that those small speakers are rated at 15W maximum only (thus have to watch that volume dial)... tongue.gif
*
thank! Edifier R1600T III is cheaper. than krk rokit 5 g3. will look out for more review. Maybe i can expend my space for my speakers.
im will to invest for krk but i need more choices to pick.

the amplifier looks similar to an audio interface tho. thats why i ask. lol
fuction of the amplifier is what ahh?

QUOTE(ktek @ Aug 13 2014, 04:46 PM)
Aune is too small for full range reproduction. Plus i believe the tuning is not towards flat eq

interface is not amp. Amp use watt rating. Rokit got built in amp

cheap monitor speaker that i know is from m-audio and wharfedale pro
*
yes. but my friend told is not really good. not sure in term of what.. hmm.gif

recording /playback interface is control the audio path & convert analog --digital signal.
amp is provide electric power to speaker, make it push away from magnet.

no good because cheap = small monitor. mid & higher note are flat tuned, but still cannot reproduce low frequency range instrument.

thanks for the info! notworthy.gif

QUOTE(lex @ Aug 13 2014, 06:06 PM)
Besides R1600T III, there's also R1800T III which is of similar size though may not be available here. If you have the space then go for Edifier Studio 7 (a.k.a Edifier R2700). For your information, that Edifier Studio 7 (a.k.a Edifier R2700) won numerous acclaim as well, for example: Ixbt.com: Acoustic Roundup August 2012 outgunning other speakers of the same class and budget...  nod.gif

The main purpose of an audio power amplifier is to drive big (passive) speakers. Usually the most power output from a LINE OUT audio output (from computers) is around 0.1W which may be enough to drive a tiny speaker or headphones/headset, but certainly not enough to drive big speakers. Those small Aune X3 speakers will require more than 0.1W to produce anything useful (audibly)... tongue.gif

Single full range driver weakness has always been the high frequency reproduction (trebles are weak and/or often simply missing). Furthermore it does not seem to have other tricks such as phase plug or whizzer (a.k.a "double cone") for improved high frequency reproduction. Add to the small size of the full range driver and the size of the speaker enclosure, bass will be weak also (difficulty in reproducing low frequencies)... icon_rolleyes.gif

already found where to get these speakers (Ideal Tech)
will go check the speakers there and maybe find my usb cable for the audio interface

what happen if the big speakers not using the amplifier?

single full range? what is that?

quick question
how do i connect the speakers using my audio interface? (input)

weak sound or nothing happen at all, becos unable to move speaker cone away from magnet.

buy USB type A to B cable (same as printer cable)
u need custom made audio cable.

pre-sonus, use 2pcs of mono phono jack plug into MAIN OUT L--R
edifier, use 2pcs of RCA plug into PC input
*
so i need 2 adapter, RCA to mono phono right?

QUOTE(ktek @ Aug 13 2014, 09:52 PM)
single a.k.a. 1 way speaker.
only 1 piece of speaker cone to cover low--mid--high frequency & instrument & vocal & backing chorus etc..
very good at low volume, u hear full range sound like headphone
very bad at high volume, the cone become distort & bunyi pecah like old laptop speaker.

2 way, got a cone and a tweeter.
audio is separated by crossover, so that bass to vocal mid is the main cone coverage, around 2000hz & above is tweeter's job.

3way, got sub, got main cone, got tweeter.
crossover separate low--mid--high.
sub handle from lowest note to 150hz (pc standard)
main cone play everything after sub.
tweeter play higher Hz after main cone.
*
i see
usually the cheap2 one is 1 way speaker right? because of the 1 cone producing low-mid-high right?
and the 3 way speaker is the expensive one like the Edifier R1600T III right? or not?

QUOTE(power911 @ Aug 13 2014, 10:06 PM)
buy a headphone adapter like the picture shown below and plug it to your "phones" out
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

or

connect it via RCA with 2 "1/4 male to female rca" adapters like the picture shown below and plug correspondingly to your main left right out

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

I'd recommend you go with the 2nd option
*
yeahhh. i need to do the second option. currently using the first one.
leceh nak tukar2 speaker dgn headphone.

QUOTE(lex @ Aug 13 2014, 10:16 PM)
Have you finally resolved that USB cable issue, and found the right cable?  hmm.gif

Then the cone can hardly move (very tiny displacement only) resulting in very tiny sound and/or almost inaudible sound... tongue.gif

One single speaker/driver trying to cover the entire (audible) audio frequency spectrum. Usually these single full range speakers/drivers in reality cannot cover the whole range adequately/properly (weakness on the lower and upper frequency regions)...  icon_idea.gif

First of all, get a pair of these adapters... wink.gif

[attachmentid=4093401]

Then simply use a RCA stereo cable to connect to the active speaker system inputs. Its that simple. Other than that, can use DIY cables if you cannot find those adapters... nod.gif
*
not yet. i need to find DIY'ers that make the usb cable
all u recommend didnt do usb cable. lol sweat.gif
looking for someone else right now

hahaha. okayyyy. i understand. the amplifier is act as booster for speakers.
how come the Aune X3 need amplifer? it's a small speaker right? or it's because of the power output needed?

example of 2 way speakers and 3 way speakers? it would be nice if there's a diagram for 2 way and 3 way.
i understand what u explaining tho

thinking to make my own cable. hmm hmm.gif
any guidance?

If you had tried many cables without success then there could be some factors, such as the size of the USB connector core (as mentioned before in another thread) and/or some problem on your USB audio device (possibly loose contact which the connectivity can be affected by the core size, and/or possible cracked solder joints inside). If those I've recommended don't make USB cables, then can try me (PM me if interested)... hmm.gif

Headphones are really good examples of small/tiny speakers. That Aune X3 is considered small compared to other usual HiFi studio speakers, plus it requires some power to get the cone moving. You can do the maths, 15W (speaker) divide by 0.1W (line out) is 150. In other words, you need to amplify the line out power by 150 time to fully maximise that speaker. And that is the main job of audio power amplifiers... tongue.gif

You've already seen them. Edifier R1600T III and KRK Rokit 5 are 2-way speakers (have tweeter and woofer). Edifier Studio 7 (a.k.a Edifier R2700) and Edifier Studio 8 (a.k.a Edifier R2800) are 3-way speakers (have tweeter, midrange and woofer)...  nod.gif

Lots of tutorials on the web, as well as on Youtube... icon_rolleyes.gif
*
sure. i'll pm u if i need your help. when i really desperate. dont really like to interrupt people life notworthy.gif

mostly speakers got its own amplifiers right? e.g. Edifier R1600T III
the higher the W, better the sound produced?

Great! high possibilities i will buy Edifier R1600T III since it's the same type of speaker.
Really like the Edifier R1600T III. Very good looking wub.gif
I will consider Edifier Studio Models. Comparing it and such.

will check tutorials at youtube. will ask questions at DIY Cable pin tered icon_rolleyes.gif

i wonder..
compare krk rokit 5 g3 and edifier R1600T III
which one is better?
or the difference is not much?

r1600 is 2 way, u can see the obvious 2 separate piece.
ini 3 way, u can see the obvious 3 piece of small--medium--big size speaker. port is not counted.

For your information, I have quite a number of those USB printer type cables but mine comes from old school USB external 3.5" hard drives and USB external 5.25" CD/DVD drive. And those were yesteryear cables (have to dig them up back if required). Not sure what's the difference between ye olde cables and the new ones nowadays (in terms of connections and quality)... unsure.gif

That Edifier R1600T III is an active speaker system, which means it has its own power amplifier inside to drive the woofer and tweeter (each driven separately as it uses bi-amplifier design)... flex.gif

Yups, that one is a 3-way speaker also...  nod.gif
*
so you can help me get the cable? if can i would really grateful.

great! is there any major differences between Edifier R1600T III and KRK Rokit 5 G3?

QUOTE(ktek @ Aug 14 2014, 05:07 PM)
U never mention la bro, mana i tau dah beli byk cable yawn.gif
well, have to find high quality one, like my akai midi controller, only stable when using ori usb cable.
get from lex, easy senang.

generally, high watt got more force to push magnet  =louder.
less chance of clipping & distort etc.. Electronic formulae that require sifu2 sekalian to explain
*
hehehe sweat.gif
sorry la. mine ori cable cannot use already..

okay. i get it.

people in audiophile section is very kind. so much learn for here notworthy.gif

As mentioned earlier, have to dig them up (packed them up in a box somewhere). I would strongly suggest bringing your audio device to test the USB cable first, as do you not want to end up with another useless USB cable again. May also check the reason for being "picky" about USB cables... hmm.gif

Differences are too many including pricing, brand, appearance (such as color, texture, shape, etc), size (dimensions), weight, features (such as remote control), volume and tone control location, etc. Technically the main differences are... wink.gif

Edifier R1600T III
- Class D (digital) bi-amplifiers
- single power supply
- 4-inch woofers
- 30WRMS per speaker, total of 60WRMS
- Unbalanced RCA inputs only (standard connection)

KRK Rokit 5 G3
- Class AB (analogue) bi-amplifiers
- split power supply (each speaker has its own power supply)
- 5-inch woofers
- 50WRMS per speaker, total of 100WRMS
- Unbalanced RCA inputs as well as balanced TRS and XLR inputs (professional grade connection)

Obviously with bigger woofer on the KRK Rokit 5, can expect better low frequency response. That Edifier R1600T III on the other hand is considered as a very affordable high quality studio monitor. Of course, immediately those differences are reflected in the pricing as well (as that KRK Rokit 5 costs about 3 to 4 times more than Edifier R1600T III).  icon_idea.gif

Anyway, here is a review: Gecid.com Ukrainian IT-portal: Logitech Multimedia Speakers Z240 review that clearly highlights/demonstrates the problem of using single full range drivers. Can see from the frequency response graph the main weaknesses of using a single full range driver as I've already mentioned earlier...  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
great news! i have replace my cable. i use it from old camera cable. the cable charge and transfer picture to pc.

alright. thanks for the comparison! if i have extra money. i'll bought my krk rokit 5. if not, i'll go for edifier R1600T III.
the low frequency responses on krk rokit 5 and Edifier R1600T III is not really a lot of differences right? since the Edifier R1600T III 4-inch woofer and KRK Rokit 5 have 5-inch woofer? hmm.gif
