from gmx to z623, bass more boomy but gmx much solid from my opinion. satellites gmx 2.1 better comapred to z623. if u want an upgrade, go straight to edifier s730 bro

the soundsticks will definitely sound way better than the R501 but it is not as 'full' as R501 in terms of sound body
and for movies wise it lacks the impact of an 8" subwoofer


either way I'd suggest you to get the Soundsticks 3 because it is very good in multimedia
