TRy to open with Maybank Sgp. The advantage is when you transfer your funds back from Sgp to Msia, you can use the Remittance feature on their Maybank2U.sg platform. The charge previously was S$15 per transaction. However, that fee is being waived for the time being.

Hopefully, you have a Msian Maybank acct., or open one if you have to.

If you do a transfer before 4pm on a business day, you get the money on the same day in your Msian Maybank acct.

Several reasons to use DBS instead, eg you can link your Phillip Securities account only with DBS, also DBS is very independent unlike Maybank in case Malaysia implement capital control.
*
Ahh,.. yes, that's right. DBS is among the panel of banks on which e-dividend can be implemented upon, directly from Phillips-Cap and the other stockborkers. When I first started many years ago, I recalled only the SG banks, namely DBS, UOB and OCBC were in this panel. I believed the list has grown since then, however, I have not heard of Maybank SG beingincluded into the list. Wondered why ?

Yes, ou will need one of the panel banks too for e-dividend purposes. DBS has a feature called Cash-Only acct, and the minimum brokerage charge is only $18 instead of the usual $25 imposed by the other SG banks, hence the other advantage of using DBS. ANotr advantage is DBS has ATMs everywhere on the island, and this number of ATM has grown since DBS merged wth POsBank a few years ago.

I have a few accts,.. and I Giro my funds to and fro among the banks, and with iFast today, you can get your funds in the ATM of another bank within the same day if you do the iFast transfer before 4 pm,....

Im Malaysian, I brought cold hard cash into Singapore often, then change my ringgit into sgd at JB or lucky plaza for better rate. Or sometimes I transfer to my HSBC SG from my HSBC MY dual currency account, subsequently transfer to my DBS.

DBS accept Malaysians without being resident.

Onemore tip : Try Maybank SG at Battery Road,.... and DBS Rochor Branch.

AV and the othr holders, good choice. rclxms.gif NOt for me though,...my average price is too low. I will always be averaging-up instead. Look at SIngpost tooif you are for the dividend-growers. Singpost just increased their dividend the last few months from a yearly 6.25 ctsto 7.00 cts. And their path of transformation from being a mail business (which is dying),... to an e-commerce and logistics business is going very well,... under Mr Wolfgang.

Ok,.. tq for the suggestion. All down for today's mkt. For REIT, Parkway LIfe bounced back up. I would hold. FREIT - dropped to 0.56 during 2008/9 if my memory serves me correctly. I would advise patience in the nearest future.

I feel it is better to savebullets if we have a lower TP in view in this mkt. Save bullets to be able to catch more units rather than keep on averaging down. 'I have been there,... a few times',...

btw, what is the minimum deposit for your acc and what is the name?  biggrin.gif
*
I'll try to help : There will be numerous accts that you canopen. Look for the most suitable for you. I use SavingsPLus, very old type of acct.. Minimum deposit is $500 average daily for me, but I heard from my friends in DBS Legal Panel that this minimum amt has been incaresd to $1K ! I also heard that if you don't meet the minimum amt, you will be charged a service fee of, something like,... below $10,... on the 31st of the month. Sorry, I'm giving you vague replies, for I hav not checked with DBS personally.

Come to think of it, there is another advantage of opening an acct with DBS,... you can open a MUlti-Currency Acct (MCA) with them too. YOU can actually deposit notes into this MCA, and withdraw notes from the bank provided the branch you are visiting has stocks in-hand. But there is a minimum equivalent bal per day of S$3000. Otherwise, they will charge you a Service Fee again at the end of the month. Don't know the amt..

Hoped this limited info is of help. I only know the accts that I hold, but I hav not experienced the service fees yet.

Reading this announcement, are we getting 3.92 SG cents per unit?

Does Croesus pay half yearly?
*
Yes, this payment is for a half-year period. And yes, you are getting 3.92 S cents per unit or SGD0.0392 per unit. But read further on the Mandatory Dividend ann't, you wil be entitled to 100% of this dividend ONLY if you hold the units in the form of a local or foreign individual or joint account. Othrwise, you will be ubjected to tax ON THE TAXABLE COMPONENT of the dividend,... can't remember,... I think 10% of the component. The dividend payout is comprised of three components.

Corrected a typo error.

i set my prices to the yields i am comfy with. Some are quite nice right now.
*
Yes, tht is one way,... for myself, if I should buy now and average-up, what happens is my yield will go down, that is the end-result, unless the ctr increases the DPU, then the yield might move up too,.. nearer to my earlier yield. A good eg would be FREIT, its dividend has been increasing, hence, th current yield value will be 'chasing' my earlier yield value. If I should average-up much more further, the new yield will NEVER be able to catch-up with my earlier yield.

Mind-boggling rclxub.gif

You are putting road blocks yourself in your own journey.

Just because you bought a reit cheap previously, you set yourself a hurdle that the future purchase must be cheaper than the previous one

You are more concern to protect your yield % then making more money in absolute term. Of course, if you can find other reits with higher yield, why not ? But if you feel that the potential for this reit is there, then why do you limit yourself just because you bought the reit cheaper last time ?

If you must protect your existing yield, then the only way is to find reits which is averaging down. Then your yield % will go up (assuming DPU remains)
*
Showtime, thank you. Yes, I am keen to protect my yield, whch means making more money compared to the amt that I put in. Otherwise, if I am averaging-up, then I must as well diversify into another instrmnt to protect my wealth.

Hence, your, third paragraph is correct ! I am still trying to finds REITs which will help me to average down,.. I think what you meant is averaging down the total yield of my whole SGREIT portfolio, by finding new REITs which are not in my portfolio yet. Which means I will have to 'take another chance with another new REIT'.

I am comfortable with my current REIT and Yield Stocks portfolio, which has proven to be resilient against mkt cycles and are increasing their DPUs respectivly as time goes by. Taking upon another risk by dipping into another REIT or yield counter, is, to me,... risky in itself.

If you call it a roadblock, then so be it. The roadblock here is getting cramped in-between the risk of developing a better overall yield by adding and taking chances on new REITs with higher yield and by waiting for the current REITs that I have in-hand to drop back to my earlier Buy prices, for whch the day may nvr come.

Anyway, I'm sure I can find other productive ways of using tht SGD that keeps pouring in every quarter,... now that ASx Fixed Price funds are out for me for the moment.

In view of the current global dip, plan to invest in REIT and like to do some study first.

Which one is better, M-REIT or S-REIT?

AA
My lay-person's view, thought REIT started at the same time for the 2 countries, I feel that the RE prices have shot up more in Spore, a more matured market there now. Thus limited upside for S-REIT compared to M-REIT. Your view?

BB
Any tax advantage or disadvantage for Msian investing in S-REIT?

CC
Annual dividend for S and M REIT are both around 6% in a study I saw. So no advantage for either one. But maybe S$ advantage. So what is the real advantage in having S REIT over M REIT?

DD
Any other important points to consider?

Many thanks.
*
My replies :-

AA - Do the MREITs 'swing' their DPUs in accordance with the market ? Dothey abide strictlyby the rule of paying out almost 100% of their earnings every yr regardless of the mkt cycles and the price swings ? I know that SGREITs' DPUs abide strictly and do not fillow mkt cycles and price swings. Unless, of course, if the earnings drop due to mkt downturn effects, then that's a different story.

BB - INvest as an individual or joint account with your wife.

CC - Wait for dips for SREITs, then buy. I saw Al-Aqar REIT has a yield of up to 8% at current price, but will the DPU drop nex year ?

DD - At a glance, I saw most MREITs paying-out the dividends twice a yr. Many SGREITs pay out their divyies 4x per year. It's better to get your money earlier, than you can re-invest faster and not lose out on opportunity cost.

BB
Please clarify on the benefits. Income tax reduction?

DD
Good to know this difference.
In your view, do you feel that the upside in S REIT is limited due to its high prices now (compared to Msia)?

EE

Is there a REIT index I can follow?

Many thanks.

YOu are most welcome,... plumberly,...

Further on BB : Yes, if you invest as an individual or in an individual joint account, you will get the whole amount of the DPU as declared, ie NOT TAXED at all for now. DPU = Dividend Per UNit. Otherwise, if you invest as, say a company, you may be subjected to a certain percentage of tax on one of the three components that make up the dividend of an SG REIT. Yield Stocks and TRusts may not have these three components of the dividend payout.

Open an individual account with the SG CDP, but you need to do this via a registered SG brokerage. Then you will be regarded as an individual, and will be ableto enjoy no tax status for the time being. IRAS - Internal REvenue Authority of Singapore. IRAS is the equivalent of our Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN).

Continue to monitor news in the IRAS. As investors in SG, we need to monitor ongoing news and changes in the IRAS. SG Elections are coming....

DD : I am not sure of investing in MREITs yet,... and for me, I am more keen on the ability of a REIT to be able to grow its dividend based on further acquisitions and asset enhancement initiatives (AEIs). If you buy now, you will get around 6 to 7% yield for some REITs, eg FREIT. BUt as the DPU grows, you will enjoy a higher yield.

Then the question becomes, how will the DPU be able to grow ? For FREIT, availability of a strong pipeline of healthcare assets for purchase based on a Right-of-First-Refusal (ROFR) basis.

If the above are satisfied, in SG, the price of the REIT WILL GROW as time goes by.

EE : I normally use this : http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/index...?CountryCode=xx

... but I also 'normally' take a bottoms-up approach to SG REITs investing, ie, I target directly the company concerned, rather than target the company from a macro view downwards.

Nope the above helps....

To all Starhub and potential Starhub supporters,... following is an important piece of news. Starhub gives out a DPU of 20 cents per year, divided into 5 cts per quarter per share.

YOu can calculate the yield with the current share price.

There is a 4th Telco coming in SG. Trials are starting soon. As per foll article :-

Hello My4thTelco Supporters,

Mark the date 22 October 2015 on your calendars. It's full steam ahead for MyRepublic's first mobility trial!

Our mobility trial will be held in Jurong East, as permitted by the IDA.

The Jurong East MRT and Bus Interchange will have our trial's network coverage by November 2015.

Relax,... it's not easy to time the mkt,... if I knew that the SG REITs would dip and then recover in a few days, I would have sold all my ASx, convert into the SGD even at the current high rates, and the buy-up all the REITs at the point of dipping. Hind-sight investment is too easy....
