it can happen for stocks not listed in that country.

i experienced once with cimb/nyse counter.

it was frozen for a few days due to uncertainties from the counter undergoing a reverse split.

i was told the local entity did not have all the details on the exercise and as a normal practice, had to freeze until all is clear to prevent misunderstanding by some customers.

me, i just hold my 5 counters to collect 5.7-7.9% yield, do nothing else... happy enough.

as the yields aren't too high, i hope they keep going, no nonsense like going private.

if that happens to any of them, i'll just dump it and hold the rest, no eye see! tongue.gif

started with 8 about 5 years ago.

ireit and kdc came later.

eventually dropped sabana, ireit, starhill, firstreit, soilbuildbiz.

just 5 for last 2 years.

i'm quite happy that way - more of the 5 counters, less bank charges (i'm on trustee acc) for every div, easier to monitor.

suntec almost at all time high, 1.825, yield 5.5%.

btw, i converted some dividends and sales proceeds sgd->rm yesterday at 3.054.

u r one of the millions with this "problem".

the biggest hedge funds also have this problem.

lately, they had dumped tens of billions in oil stocks, put them into tech stocks.

so u see all the exxons and schlumbergers diving; amazons and googles flying.

until the valuations don't make sense!

i see global markets incl sgx continuing to rise, sheer market momentum, from superb liquidity.

sg reits... most of them can still go higher.

counters and bourses not going higher or going down - more reason to dump them.

the prop cycle is very long.

buy at right time, u profit big time within a year or 2.

buy at wrong time, u suffer for a decade or more.

i have experienced 2 cycles - lost in one, made in the other, ok. biggrin.gif

as tech gets everything moving faster, coupled with new trillions floating around, everything has changed.

more and greater risks of bubbles everywhere.

in the old days, one can put all money in just prop, will work good.

today, gotta diversify enough not to get caught bad when one bubble burst.

or stay within acceptable liquidity levels to get out/in fast enough!
