The rep from CapitalM said Amazon might be coming here 2nd quarter. That s d price for CMT is still not stable and bit difficult to go sky high.

She also said eCommerce has also become a competitor to retail mall biz too. Haizzzzz
*
That's why the future of malls will be food, services (saloon, cinema, etc) and fresh produce (vege, fruits, seafood and meat). Retail will deteriorate further.

Malls wil be affected

Yeap. i hv just finish talking with Std Chart Relationship mgr.

transfer in shares.. cash.. to the value of SGD200K.

can even open the account from malaysia.

But then huge cash reserves sitting there not earning..!!?
*
You will have a whole range of structured products and conventional products for you to choose with that cash reserve. Very wide range depending on your risk and return preference.

Opens up totally another alternative to stock market. Offers from single digit to double digit returns

I would say not for everyone though. Some products are very complicated

HI Sifus here,

Recently I am thinking of scaling down on some of my industrial reits holdings.

currently, i am holding AIMS,Cambridge and Soilbuild.

my two biggest holding are AIMS and Soilbuild. Both r in profit, while my cambridge holdings are losing bit money.

I am thinking of maintaining my AIMS holdings, while not too sure abt holding Soilbuild, what r ur thoughts on it? The price made a big recovery, i was previously in the red until recently. Good for long term holding?

I plan to sell my cambridge holdings if the price improves.

Good idea to spread to different sector

We must be creative now,...things are brewing further,.....

But no more dividend payout from 1st July onwards,... that's how I look at it,... the only return is at the end after the buyout is successful, whichever the offeror is,....
*
I remember last time this counter declare special bonus before the corporate exercise ?

I think it is normal for Reits to declare the available cash before the exercise takes effect. Maybe the declaration will happen after everything is confirm...

Hi bro,... you mean Croesus manager might declare the dpu for the period July to September when the buyout by Cyrus Bidco is confirmed ? The ann't has already mentioned 'the dividend payout for January to October 2017 is 4.06 Cts and will be given out together with the offer price if unitholders agree to sellout,... They won't be giving out anything more,...
*
I will wait for the papers for final details....

So was I , a gold man in 2002. Well prepared for the 2008-09. We are getting to the 10 year anniversary. So any thing can happen!  biggrin.gif

My gold holdings have 'yielded' around average 23% p.a  drool.gif

about 10.5% CAGR    biggrin.gif

In MYR terms of course.  Not too shabby. better than any FD returns.
*
Yea gold is the livelihood of people like Mike Maloney and Peter Schiff. So, they go around telling people stock market crash is coming, fiat money is useless etc. They make money when people buy gold and their books about gold/silver, so the opinion is biased

While you are a genuine gold investor for risk diversification. Gold is one investment I still lack. How many % of gold is in your portfolio ? Just curious how much should I allocate the risk...

Well. everyone has their own biases, especially when their livelihood depends on it!
I do think they go a bit over board. However, the fundamentals are there for all to see.
Bot gold in 2002. I got out of banking stocks in 2005-6.

once I had 40% of my portfolio in gold!  sweat.gif  That was because of the spike in price. Nowadays, I have about 10% in gold, out of which I trade 3% of it.
However, I may tweak it some what if I do not feel good about the financial world.

Thru mining stock ? SPDR ? physical ? bank gold account ? I think I better start soon biggrin.gif

Another million dollar questions on which currencies to hold :

If market crash really happen in the near future, how would it affect our currencies ? (USD, S$, A$, GBP, CNY, JPY.....)

My guess will be US market will start the ball rolling. So, USD will come down first. And fund manager will scramble to other safer markets (JPY ?). So other currencies will gain over USD

And Gold will soar, Bond will be snatch up....

How would RM perform ? Will RM still peg to USD ? Should we hold RM or change to S$ or A$ or JPY NOW in anticipation of picking up good value stocks IF market crash ?

Good question, impt to be prepared!

If u look at the last 6 months, usd index already dropped 8%.

The rate hikes have all been priced in, maybe overdone.

During this period, euro gained most, rmb next, yen a bit.

Sgd gained, aud not much.

Rm gained against usd but lost to all the rest of majors.

Rm lost to thai baht too, now at 7.9.

If market crashes, usd index can fall another 5 or 10pc, and that has happened before, $ index below 75.

Rm will likely gain against usd but lose to others as usual.

Money will flock to traditional safe havens.

For that, i think easiest from here, hedge with gold, sgd, euro.
*
Yea RM doesn't look good be the market up or down. Very disappointed with it

hmm.. similar situation U & i.

Currently holding only about 1% of my liquid assets in "paper gold", accumulated bit by bit during the slide through the past few years via PBank Gold Investment a/c - 4% charges. Haven't been accumulating for awhile since the current RM gold price is way higher than my total average cost.

Planning to have about 3% to 5% (depending on gold price's ups/downs) but future purchases will be via GLD unless it's hard to transfer $ out to my TDA-SG account. If there is still the sekatan, then PB lor (about 4% spread buy/sell).

However, my reasons for gold is not because of fear of currency crashes coz all the big boys did their version of QEs and i'm no seer/oracle to know what will go down/up. Thus, my simplistic reasoning & approach is just for asset allocation purposes - gold being a % of my "cash" - which it is looooong time ago laugh.gif

Dead simple reasoning & execution - i can't handle complex  sweat.gif

Always good to hold some investment which hedge against market crash. A small % might turn out to be the counter balance to the whole portfolio during bad times thumbup.gif

I think for Gold investments, it is a known fact that there is no yield,... it is not a dividend play,... if you want returns, you have to sell,....

After reading all the above, I discovered one counter in the ASX that is a 'reverse performance' counter, ie, there are many short positions as its underlyings,... this counter will do very well when the mkt crashes,... and this counter still pays a dividend,.. the code is ALF,...
*
Bro it's a small fund. If you don't mind the liquidity then ok.

Also it is a higher risk counter ?

Do not confuse company declaration and the buyout offer. They are independent of each other.

Don't waste your time lah. This is not the first time minority shareholders got screwed.

In the end, the acquisition will go through and small shareholders become silent

Invest in share market as small players have to expect this kind of things will happen, often. Just move on and put your effort to pick other good companies.

Anyway, all in all, I am happy having invested in Croesus over these years

Yeah,... I noticed this too,.... whatever that has higher yield at current prices will surely have some flaws, some risks somewhere, eg gearing too high (iREIT Global and KIT, w Basslink), heavy reliance on one property (SPH REIT), the INdustrial REIT (uncertain sector), well, these are some I have studied,...

The most recent opportunity to go in is UMS,...

Manulife US REIT - don't know-lar,... everybody said it is good,... but recently, I noticed their result has one flaw,... so, I'm thinking not to average my price up anymore,..

If really,... no chance at all in SG mkt anymore,... then I will TT my funds to AUSTRALIA,....

After this posting,... I think I don't want to struggle in SGX anymore till the conditions are conducive again,... need to move-on already,.... Singapura already Maju,....
*
Part of risk management. I am at the age which prefer lower risk (hence lower return). Don't want to "Pia" to win anymore biggrin.gif Until I am more comfortable and go in again...

What sort of structured products are you in?

I am invested in US  companies offering and managing this sort of products.

The products are from banks. So many variables to suit different risk and return appetite. I am more into principal guaranteed products now. Kiasi sweat.gif

Mine from Sg bank for preferred/private banking. Better to sit down with your banker to explain to you how the products work. Each product is slightly different and may be complicated.
