first of all, hats off to robbie di matteo for shuffling his pack and trying something DIFFERENT. many here were already seeing signs of him being 'degil,' glad he proved us wrong. i don't think it has anything to do with roman paying a visit to the boys either. our passing game was a bit too concentrated in the middle sometimes, but u could see RDM saw what was happening and introduced moses. terry came in late in the game, mikel off for lamps, perfect subs imo. even if we ended up with a 0-0 draw, i honestly couldn't find much to complain about. the gaffer was brave hence that was the biggest positive apart from the result.
my oh my oscar, do we have a talent on our hands. let's raid brazil some more! hard to believe we and tottenham were the only teams that were seriously interested in him. still looks like a schoolboy, but his touch and awareness are that of a seasoned pro. mata has stepped up at the right time, just as hazard was looking a bit off colour. count on the little spaniard to get us ticking again, weighing in with a sublime touch for cole to tap home. sexy stuff. best move of the game which deserved a goal.
defence was pretty solid but u could see stoke tried the park the bus routine on us which didn't work. hence the back four were far from being overworked. luiz had an almost flawless game, bar that moment of pure madness when he went in for a two footed challenge. could've been easily sent off for that to be honest. needs to watch his back vs arsenal, i have a feeling the officials will be looking for an excuse to send him to an early bath. i liked how moses just came in and clicked with the team, and u could sense this "i'm not fazed by all these skinny star players around me, i'm gonna do my own thing" aura around him and it showed in his performance. no excessive dribbles, touches, or showboating, and slotted right into the ebb and flow of the game. will make that RW slot his own if robbie let's him. i'm tipping victor for a start vs arsenal. torres at least looked more involved but again he needs to do more. more shots, more runs, and above all more CONCENTRATION. how'd he miskick that perfect pass from mata only he knows.
team to beat is arsenal. they had city on the ropes with their possession and running off the ball. i just feel they've looked really dangerous and solid against tough opposition. first off its the capital one cup, so i'm looking forward to azpi, studge, marin and piazon getting some minutes. 3 out of the four mentioned would still be fantastic. oh and congrats to terry for making one of the best decisions of his international career. why play for a country which doesn't appreciate nor want u in their team. only mistake he made is he didn't do it two years earlier. gets to concentrate on chelsea now, which is perfect for us. as JT would put it, UP THE CHELS!
note : sweet goal by lukaku, it shows if u don't try, u won't score (torres, take note). i don't think even he expected that to go in, but it caught the keeper by surprise and turned out to be the winning strike. de bruyne already 2 goals in 4 games as well. sweet!
