This abscess exist for at least several months already and may be longer, since it only draw my attention several month ago after i feel pain on my butt when i sit on a chair. From a mirror i managed to look at the abscess part, the round shape abscess is very small estimate to have a diameter of about 5mm. The abscess is about 10cm away from anal and located on my left butt. I can see a hole on the center of the abscess which is dark red in color. Yesterday, suddenly got blood drain out from the hole together with some pus. This is the second time i saw blood come out from the abscess part. By the way, this may not related, some time i will feel itchy on the left portion of my anal. At first i thought it is only a small problem and will heal on it own in short time, but now after several month the problem still the same. I have no idea what is this, anybody can give me some advice?

10cm away from your anus? then it should not be fistula-in-ano. but its difficult to judge just by your description.

don't poke it or press it. see a GP or a general surgeon for treatment.

Medical term -- pilonidal cyst. If it gets serious, take a look at surgery required: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZx3opghl7U

Can last several months, comes and goes. Suggestions, sit on a U shaped pillow opening towards the back, resting weight forwards to avoid squeezing buttocks.

To avoid mess and hold creams, cross cut small strips of sanitary napkins (yes, guys too) and stick on the opposite side butt cheek.

Strangely enough, silicone gels have helped some, very fast relief too. Monistat chafing gel good but hard to get here. Try some clear women's make-up base like Revlon. Expensive but a little lasts a long time.

This problem is probably very common in the tropics but people shy to reveal.

Damn it do you even know what's a pilonidal cyst? He already said it's on the left butt, not the butt crack.

It need not necessarily be a fistula if there's not communication inside anus to the outside.

But if it is, it could be a high, low or supra fistula, many types. If it's low, cut it open or excised. If high, cutting seton to bring it lower then cut it open after a few months.

It could also be a one way dead end sinus tract.

That can be surgically removed like a fistulectomy and there will be a huge gaping hole left to heal from inside out. Should healed up in about 4-6 weeks.

a friend of mine had this. he had to get it removed in the hospital. they basically drained the puss out and according to him, it smelled like dead rat. :/

like the others said, visit a GP. its pretty normal to get abscess there. dont try to puncture it urself. who knows, u might aggravate it and it may lead to infection.

No, a GP is useless.

See a specialist, like a general surgeon. Or colorectal surgeon.

GP will only lance or just give you antibiotics and send you home. Then the cycle repeats.

Jeez so excitable! If it is. it is. If it ain't, it ain't. What, fist up there?!!? Original description not medically accurate either.

Info discussed here might help somebody else. Normally people try simple remedies then see a GP. It is not easy or affordable to straight away get an appointment with a specialist.

It is likely you have sebaceous cyst, a growth on your butt.

Wikipedia Link - Sebaceous Cyst

As ttan777 has correctly mentioned, the cyst can be removed by form of surgery. A relatively easy, straightforward and painless process(after you've been injected of course). The whole process will last approximately between 15 to 30 minutes.

The cyst is not harmful if you choose not to go for surgery to have it removed, but it will cause a lot of discomfort whenever you sit down on the chair. So it is best that you have it removed. The only thing you'll get on your butt is a scar, but not a big deal.

The cyst has come back this week, on the same place of my butt. Last time, it healed automatically since 8 months ago, i never thought that the cyst will come back again. Few days ago, that small part of my butt start to bulge until yesterday with some blood and pus leaked out, i think it is broken. Today that small part no bulge any more, no blood and no pus leak out as well just feel slightly pain on the surface of that part of my butt. Since it gone and come back, i am worrying whether any serious problem happened to me, anybody can give me some advise?

Thank you.

it is very likely a gluteal abscess or perianal abscess, but could be a fistula also. no sure way of knowing, unless u see ur stool coming out with pus and blood as well, which is rarely the case.

abscess tends to be recurrent, and quite often in the same or similar spot. some people are more predisposed to develop abscess, E.g. diabetic, poor hygiene, overweight.

You need to see a surgeon, and remove the whole thing. Sometimes an abscess can break and heal by itself, but the residual pocket is vulnerable to develop an abscess again in the future.
