So, we already knew that Samsung current flagship is Galaxy S3 with it quad core smartphones, that beat iPhone 4S all of the way including basic specs and market sales.

And one of its closest rival in terms of multi-core processor, is HTC One X, which also equipped with quad core processor.

Now, Sony is also trying to pushing back their names on the top by releasing few flagship units in their launching event such as Xperia V and Xperia T, which only equipped with dual core processor but comes with extra features: Water & Dust Resistant!

However, based on benchmark scores in below, it shows that roughly, a dual core phones is performing slightly better compared to quad core phones. More processor means more heat, and less battery life. Is this one of the reason why other smartphone manufacturer choose to use dual core processor instead of quad core phone? what do you guys think?

in terms of pi calculation, definitely a faster processor wins since it does not utilize multi-core processor power. however, the overall test shows that Xperia V is performing as good as Galaxy S3, which is considered one of the best current smartphone. however, there are still no official review on those phones. i wonder if its goes as smooth as S3 and 4S.

Its unfair to use next gen chip vs current chip set .

Back to topic , quad is not needed as android not multi taking like windows . dual a9 is enough for all of the apps now on market .

However , its no harm to get more cpu  rolleyes.gif  rolleyes.gif  rolleyes.gif
