Hi all,
Just bought a compaq V2404TU presario notebook. I would like to seek your advise on how to preserve the battery life of the notebook. Do i have to take out the battery while using it at home? What is the general life span of 6 cell battery ? Does it have a charge cycle ? Meaning the more frequent i charge it will die off fast Thankl

Getting Started

Not sure about some people saying that taking off the baterry would help the baterry to live longer.
But with my notebook which is almost 2 years old now, the baterry is doing good. I did not take out the batery but I do plug in the power all the time when I was at school and home. In other words when you are not on the move and you get reach of a power source, keep the power adapter ON.
Hope this will help : )

QUOTE(assaopi @ Feb 11 2006, 06:35 PM) Not sure about some people saying that taking off the baterry would help the baterry to live longer. Yeah. Many will say that but I have read somewhere that you should actually always have the battery in the laptop while using the computer when it is plugged in. If you experience any problems with the current such as surges or voltage drop offs, the battery acts as a moderating influence since the power is first going through the battery. Anyway, that does not mean you should always leave the battery in. The battery should be removed when not using the computer. Also, the machine should be run on battery power only occassionaly, just to allow the batter to discharge now and then and help preserve it's overall life. Personally, i always leave it inside... as a backup power incase theres no electricity or someone tripped the wire... This post has been edited by Shinigami: Feb 11 2006, 06:56 PM
